You will have some problems getting the user authentification to work on an W2k Zope Server. That was my experience. I recompiled and created a package for the LDAP Userfolder so that now I can use the LDAPUserfolder and python-ldap to authenticate users with the Active Direcory Domain Server. If you need ODBC, you should use an W2k Server otherwise Linux. (My personal opinion!!!) I have an External method that uses os.system to execute a linux command on a local host. I am trying to pass a file name to the findDocs function (see below) to locate the location (path) of the wanted file and print it out on a dtml document. Can someone please show me how to make this work? Thanks in advanced for any suggestions. #Python script to find location/path of local file import os unixCommand = 'find /home/uploads/ -name %' def findDocs(arg): os.system(unixCommand%arg) DTML: <dtml-call "externalMethodName(arg=fileName)">

JavaScript Menu & Zope - set dynamic paths
by Simon Forster 25 Jun '03

25 Jun '03

Some advice please. I have a dynamic menu written in JavaScript which is called from a number of different sub-folders. Seeing as Zope gives me the option of re-writing paths, I thought I'd use this to make life easier. So question: Given a code fragment such as: <a href="../Welcome/index.html" onmouseover="changeImages('Welcome', '../images/Welcome-over.png'); return true;" onmouseout="changeImages('Welcome', '../images/Welcome.png'); return true;"> <img name="Welcome" src="../images/Welcome.png" width="170" height="42" border="0"> </a> what's the best way to create the paths dynamically? At the moment I'm using: <a href="../Welcome/index.html" onmouseover="changeImages('Welcome', '../images/Welcome-over.png'); return true;" onmouseout="changeImages('Welcome', '../images/Welcome.png'); return true;" tal:attributes="href here/Welcome/index.html/absolute_url"> <img name="Welcome" src="../images/Welcome.png" width="170" height="42" border="0" alt="" tal:attributes="src here/images/Welcome.png/absolute_url"> </a> but of course this isn't changing the path references in the JavaScript function - that's my next task. This has to be a regularly performed routine and I'm interested in knowing what the preferred method(s) is as I want to get into good habits. As the owner of all currently available Zope books (in English, anyway), I highly recommend the Zope Bible by Bernstein, Robertson, et al... Poll Tag & other Poll/Survey stuff
by Paul K 25 Jun '03

25 Jun '03

Hiya Everybody, I'm trying to use the Poll Tag product in Zope, anyone got any ideas what I'm supposed to do with it? If I put it in my Products folder and restart Zope it doesn't show up in my Add To list. I'm unable to import the folder into ZMI because you can (apparently) only import files. I'm unable to copy the folder from my local machine and paste it into ZMI. So: what now? Is the Poll Tag the best or standard product to use for this? Are there other Poll/Survey products of interest? Thanks in advance y'all, Paul -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup CareerBuilder.com has over 400,000 jobs. Adding roles in Product code
by drew nichols 25 Jun '03

25 Jun '03

How can i add a role automatically when creating my new instance of my class that extends ObjectManager?? REQUEST.set ( 'role', 'Void' ) self.manage_defined_roles ( "Add Role", REQUEST ) This throws a *get* error so i assume that the REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect returned from the manage_defined_roles won't work from my python code. OS choice for Intranet
by Peter Chauncy 25 Jun '03

25 Jun '03

I am investigating the use of Zope to host an Intranet. The main network is Windows NT/2000, presently using an NT Domain, but planning to move to Active Directory shortly. I am interested in what the advantages/disadvantages of hosting zope on a linux or Win32 platform. My experience is mostly with hosting on linux. Some things that already occur to me are user authentication and ODBC drivers, which I think would tend to favour win32. Any thoughts and experience or links to resources gratefully accepted. Peter
