zpt calls openflow?
by nagendra prasad 18 Jun '03

hi, i have set up plone & zope in linux. All these days i have used formulator + DTML(to design forms )& dtml alks to openflow & that works fine. As i was not able to make dtml call zpt( as my dtml is currently talking to openflow--didn't want to change the sequence), i had to go with zpt talking to openflow. is that possible , plz help me, how do i do this. Below mentioned is what i have done. this is my macros in zpt.here this form action points to dtml script. ----------------------------------------------------------------- <tr tal:define="startdate request/startdate|nothing"> <th align="left"> Start Date: </th> <td><input type="text" name="startdate" tal:replace="structure python:form.startdate.render(startdate)" > </td> </tr> ----------------------------------------------------------------- this is my dtml script(talks to openflow) that tries to call zpt ---------------------------------------------------------- <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var document_title></h2> <dtml-let instance="workflow.addInstance('request', AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName(), 'no comment', 'Request for Grant by ' + AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName(), activation=0)" instobj="_.getattr(workflow,instance)"> <dtml-call "instobj.manage_addProperty('startdate', startdate, 'string')"> <dtml-call "workflow.startInstance(instance)"> </dtml-let> <a href="index_html">To frontpage</a> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ it always gives an error like Error Type NameError Error Value name 'startdate' is not defined what is the problem Thanks Prasad

Using win32com in Zope
by Ashley Lloyd 18 Jun '03

I have been trying to write to Excel from Zope, using win32com. If I try the following in python, it works fine: >>>from win32com.client import Dispatch >>>o=Dispatch("Excel.Application") >>> >>>o.Visible=1 >>>o.Workbooks.Add() <COMObject Add> >>>o.Cells(1,1).Value = "Hello" >>>o.Cells(1,2).Value = "World" However, attempting to do this with an external method from within Zope (having done my best to get all of the files it depends on copied over into Zope sub-directories in bin/lib): def launchExcel(self): from win32com.client import Dispatch o=Dispatch("Excel.Application") o.Visible=1 o.Workbooks.Add() o.Cells(1,1).Value = "Hello" o.Cells(1,2).Value = "World" I get the following error when attempting to test the external method: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Error Type ImportError Error Value cannot import name Dispatch Error Trace Traceback (innermost last): File C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: launchExcel) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: launchExcel) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\Products\ExternalMethod\ExternalMethod.py, line 205, in __call__ (Object: launchExcel) (Info: ((), {}, None)) File C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\Extensions\excelstuff.py, line 11, in launchExcel (Object: Excel) ImportError: cannot import name Dispatch -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dispatch is defined in win32com/client/__init__.py: def Dispatch(dispatch, userName = None, resultCLSID = None, typeinfo = None, UnicodeToString=NeedUnicodeConversions, clsctx = pythoncom.CLSCTX_SERVER): """Creates a Dispatch based COM object. Using ZPT to include a file
by Simon Forster 18 Jun '03

18 Jun '03

As you'll guess, I'm a complete beginner with Zope so I'll be asking some damn irritating questions - that's by way of an apology in advance :-) I've waded through great chunks of the Zope Book so get some of the principles but of course I've forgotten as much as I remember because I've not applied any of it yet. FWIW, I'm reasonably confident that once I've got my head around Zope's way of working, things'll be OK but there's a whole host of new concepts being thrown at me. While we're on FWIWs, the process of being introduced to Zope is quite a hairy one. As someone going through the learning procedure, my first call was to subscribe to this mailing list and to download the pdf version of the Zope Book. Generally, the mailing list talks about specific problems where I don't even understand the problem being addressed - but that's OK, part of the learning curve etc. Reading the Zope Book, quite quickly I got to examples that just didn't work. At this point I queried the list and was told that much of this had been fixed in a later Zope Book only available online. Respectfully, archive the old versions of the book. The new book's structure is sufficiently different that you don't know what you've read and what you haven't - irritating if you're halfway through the previous version of the book. And people like me HATE starting again from the beginning! Archiving the old versions would seem to be quite low fruit in terms of preventing new users from starting off on the wrong foot! Anyway, onto ?s. Firstly, a couple of generic ones: - As a rule, I'm taking it that Zope Page Templates (ZPTs) are the way to go rather than DTML when we're talking about HTML pages? This broad rule seems to be the takeout from the latest Zope Book. - As another rule, all logic goes into Python Scripts? Pages don't show logic unless it's presentation logic (if new user, display Welcome New User type of thing). I just want to make sure that I start out with good habits. A more specific ?: I've got an existing site I'll adapt to run in Zope. This site has been put together in a very structured manner so should translate to Zope quite smoothly. Unfortunately, I'm failing at the first page. The structure of the site is such that I have a bunch of folders inside the sites root folder. One of these folders (Welcome) contains the default site page. What I'd like to do is include the content of this page in the index_html page at the site root. As Zope works back up the namespace hierarchy, the logical (to me) tag Welcome to LDML Ltd returns an error. How do I get Zope to include pages found in sub-folders? Basic stuff but we've all got to start somewhere. Tino, You are correct, as long as you take into account that MySQL has limitations as does zope. External Methods may help but not completely. The fact is that as the MySQL 4 is very buggy and incorrectly documented also it does allow mixed inserts and updates... so im still using 3.23. Actually i hate MySQL now... it is crap. Im moving over to PostGreSQL. atleast it is DBAPI-2.0 complient...better to bite my tounge though... mysql in our dev environ is hopelessly sad.. makes me go koo-koo. --- In zope(a)yahoogroups.com, Tino Wildenhain <tino@w...> wrote: > Hi Wayne, > > would it not be far more easy to > just use a MySQLDA (mysql zope > database adaptor) and write your > statements to ZSQL Methods? > > The problem with classes and objects > not prepared for the zope security > engine - you cannot access their > data in the worst case. > > Regards > Tino > > Wayne Connolly wrote: > > Phil, > > > > Thanks for the reply. > > > > It is a python script not a external method in zope. > > The python script is at the domain root. > > > > I read here > > http://images.devshed.com/Server_Side/Python/PythonMySQL/PythonMySQL.pdf > > that its possible and baiscaliy repurposed it for my > > own needs. > > > > I really need this py script to connect to the mysql > > db to do an UPDATE (then if the UPDATE fails) do a > > INSERT. > > > > Any idea's? > > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope@z... > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > (Related lists - > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Re: [Zope] Authentication Error on python script db submit
by Wayne Connolly 18 Jun '03

Phil, Thanks for the reply. It is a python script not a external method in zope. The python script is at the domain root. I read here http://images.devshed.com/Server_Side/Python/PythonMySQL/PythonMySQL.pdf that its possible and baiscaliy repurposed it for my own needs. I really need this py script to connect to the mysql db to do an UPDATE (then if the UPDATE fails) do a INSERT. Any idea's? Zope.org Python & Python.org Python
by Samir Mishra 18 Jun '03

Hello all, I was wondering if it's possible for me to use the instance of Python 2.1.3 created by the installer instead of Python that comes with Zope? I.e., in z2.py, change c:\zope-dir\python\python.exe c:\zope-dir\zope\z2.py ... other args ... to - c:\python213-dir\python.exe c:\zope-dir\zope\z2.py ... other args ... Are there differences between the way Python is compiled in the 2 instances? I'm on Win32. TIA. Regards, Samir

you first calculate how many hours in advance you wish to set the time. Ie. in 6 months (24 * 365/2) and then add this to the GMT time as below in zpt format... cheers, wayne --- In zope(a)yahoogroups.com, drew nichols <drew@m...> wrote: > How do i add 6 months to a new DateTime() > > TIA > > -------- > > > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope@z... > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > (Related lists - > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
