Data.fs corruption, __before_publishing_traverse__ and POSKeyError
by Alexander James Tucker 22 May '03

22 May '03

Hi, I'm currently trying to rebuild a system after some kind soul installed a rootkit, and having some difficulty bringing back a Zope installation. I copied out the 1/2Gb Zope database, reinstalled everything from scratch, including an upgrade to Zope 2.6.1, and copied back the Data.fs, expecting at least to be able to get at the management interface to see what damage was left to patch up, which products I had to install etc. However, the first problem is that it seems the database is quite corrupt. Zope starts, but accessing any page including management screens gives me AttributeError: __before_publishing_traverse__ I have tried various incarnations of the fsrecover.py script, which most of the time gets rid of the corruption but leaves me with the same error. I did once manage to get the database to a stage where I could get in, albeit having rolled back to August 2002 (I guess the last time anyone did a pack!) However, I then came across a couple of POSKeyErrors :( Has anyone come across the first error before? Is there any way I can get some useful traceback to indicate what's causing the error, since looking at the page source there is no trace information. Hopefully, Alex.

Flash Problem with Zope
by beno 22 May '03

22 May '03

Hi; I need to redirect the index_html page to different Flash files based on screen res. I have done this successfully before, but with the strange effect that I've had to put the .swf file in the root dir of the site. I prefer to have it in a higher dir. Has anyone else had this problem? Am I doing something wrong? TIA, beno

Re: How to Add a File Dynamically??

> While adding a new folder I would like to add 3 files by default into the > folder (like when i add a folder object through ZMI) > 1) index_html - (Page Template) > 2) tree.py - (Python Script) > 3) getPath.zsql - (ZSQL Method) I did it for a DTMLMethod, but I think it is similar to the other cases. In my case, I just created an external method with this: from OFS import DTMLMethod def createMethod(folderObj, id, title, text): # Creates a dtml Method DTMLMethod.addDTMLMethod(self=folderObj,id=id,title=title) #Gets a reference to the created object ob=folderObj._getOb(id) #Changes the contents of the created object ob.manage_edit(data=text,title=title) You just have to look at the html source code of the Zope's manage interface and see what methods are called when creating/editing a python script, page template and a ZSQL Method. Then, you have to search the implementation of this methods to see what parameters you need and which packages you have to import. Regards, Josef

Fresh install fails in minutes
by Scott Wunsch 22 May '03

22 May '03

I've just set up a fresh new Red Hat 9 installation, and dropped in a fresh install of Zope 2.6.1 (from the binary tarball on the Zope site, which I believe includes its own Python interpreter). I'm currently testing it out by starting it like this: su - zope -s /bin/sh -c "/opt/zope/start" Yes, the /opt/zope/var directory is properly owned by the zope user. It works fine for a few minutes, but after I poke around a bit (especially once I hit the management interface), it suddenly stops responding to requests. The process is still running, and it's still accepting connections, but it completely ignores those connections. Nothing is logged (not even the requests I'm making) after it stops responding. I'm running it through Apache via FastCGI, but I've also tried running only the HTTP server on port 8080, and the same thing happens there. Any ideas what I should be looking for? -- Take care, Scott \\'unsch ... Oh give me a phone, with a modem on loan...

Wanted: links for backup, optimizing, db adaptors, gui editors, troubleshooting?
by Robert Nagle 22 May '03

Hi, I'm a relative newbie to the zope world and am putting together a list of favorite how-to's/articles/install/config articles. The online Zope Book is excellent, and I know some excellent how to's have been written. (For example, the excellent list on plone.org http://plone.org/documentation/howto/) But sometimes it's hard to tell what's current or interesting. And for the newbie, it's a little overwhelming to know where to start. I've pretty much looked over all the how-to's on http://www.zope.org/Documentation and was curious if anyone had articles on their own sites or know of any non-zope.org content I may have missed. In particular I'm looking for topics such as: backup optimizing performance db adaptors gui editors and zope troubleshooting product installations Feel free to throw links my way. (Actually, in the interest of reducing mailing list traffic, I would ask that you send it directly to me rather than the list, and then next week I'll post the url for the links page I put up (and forward it to anybody who responded). Thanks for your help. Robert Nagle, idiotprogrammer, Houston, Texas __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo. http://search.yahoo.com

Hi, Sorry David, Andreas, and Dennis for the short email that did not explain my problem fully (had to go to a meeting). I use dtml mostly but I'm starting to see the power of Python. I am creating a web based system to collect test data during our manufaturing process. I can generate a serial number but depending on the part the items within a this serial number can be 4, 10, 24, 34 items. I need to create these records first so they can update them as they are testing. With my zsql method, I am creating records with 3 fields populated using David's dtml-in method: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('cell_number', 0)"> <dtml-in "_.range(10)"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('cell_stack_number', cell_number+1)"> <dtml-call expr="create_atp_fields_record(REQUEST)"> </dtml-in> But an error message: Error Type: sql.error Error Value: ('23000', -1605, '[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship. Change the data in the field or fields that contain duplicate data, remove the index, or redefine the index to permit duplicate entries and try again.') I have no indexes or primary key set. Any sugesstions? Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: David Hassalevris [mailto:bluepaul@earthlink.net] Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2003 4:05 PM To: McDonnell, Larry; 'Zope@Zope. Hi, Wondering why RedHat doesn't provide RPMs for Zope, I spent a weekend to make one of the most popular web application servers availible for one of the most popular linux distributions. You can download RPMs for RedHat 8.0 and 9, SuSE 8.x and Debian/woody deb from my member site http://www.zope.org/Members/medienlabor/packages or from the mirror of German/Deutsche Zope User Group (DZUG) http://www.dzug.org/Download Feel free to use this service.
