Conditionally selected option with ZPT
by Fabio Rolando 23 Apr '03

23 Apr '03

Hi. I need to write a Page Template with a conditionally selected <OPTION>. In DTML I would write <select name="numero_bimestre"> <option value="1" <dtml-if expr="propertysheets.props.numero_bimestre==1">selected</dtml-if>>gen-feb</option> <option value="2" <dtml-if expr="propertysheets.props.numero_bimestre==2">selected</dtml-if>>mar-apr</option> ... </select> Well, I don't find a way to do this with "tal" statements. I hope you can help me. Than you in advance Regards Fabio

Adding LDAPUserFolder
by Braun Brelin 23 Apr '03

23 Apr '03

Hello, I've installed LDAPUserFolder 2.1 and I'm trying to instantiate the LDAPUserFolder within my Plone portal. The problem I'm having is that I fill in all the fields in the create menu for the LDAPUserFolder, but when I click "add" it seems to fail silently. At least, the LDAPUserFolder doesn't get created and it doesn't fail with any errors. How the heck do I debug this if I can't get at least some sort of error? I've looked at the help pages and the README's but I'm not getting any sort of info there that will help me with this. I'm filling in the Add LDAP User Folder with the following values: Title: LDAPUserFolder LDAP Server[:Port] 111.75.75.70:389 Read-only (checked) Login Name Attribute: UID RDN Attribute: UID Users Base DN: ou=occupations, oc=departments,ou=personnel, dc=myclient,dc=ie Scope: Subtree Groups Base DN: oc=groups,dc=myclient,dc=ie Groups Storage: Groups stored on LDAP Server Scope: Subtree Manager DN: manager Password: mypasswd Use Password Encryption: crypt Default User Roles: Anonymous Anybody have any suggestions? I'm running Zope 2.6.1 and LDAPUserFolder 2.1 on a Linux Red Hat 8 platform. Thanks, Braun Brelin ------------------------------------------------- This mail sent through IMP: http://horde.org/imp/

Re: [Zope] Newbie - passing a list to an External Method
by Ashley Lloyd 23 Apr '03

Chris, Thanks for your email, much appreciated. I've tried as you suggested, and again I can retrieve the values from within the External Method (if I just return fileID or lines, without actually trying to do anything with them, it works fine), but if I attempt to get at the strings inside the lines variable, it fails. If I am correct, the error I seem to get (removing the try..except from the script, this is the error shown in the dtml-method) is: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Error Type AttributeError Error Value __getitem__ Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Try.py", line 149, in render_try_except result = render_blocks(self.section, md) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Let.py", line 75, in render else: d[name]=expr(md) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Util.py", line 159, in eval return eval(code, d) File "", line 2, in f File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\Products\ExternalMethod\ExternalMethod.py", line 205, in __call__ return apply(f,(self.aq_parent.this(),)+args,kw) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\Extensions\formatted-strings.py", line 29, in run for line in lines: AttributeError: __getitem__ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The part of run() it seems to refer to: y = 20 for line in lines: sping.stringformat.drawString(canvas, line, 10,y) y = y + 20 Again, if I just return lines, or fileId, just before "for line in lines", it returns fine. Thanks again .. to everyone! Ashley _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself with cool emoticons http://www.msn.co.uk/messenger

Thanks again for your help Dylan. If I set the External Method parameters to (self, fileID, Lines), and call it in this manner: <dtml-let link="sping2(fileID='myPDFfile.pdf',lines=mylines)"> (sping2 being the ID of the External Method - and the external method returning the fileID that is passed in as the filename to generate) I get the following error: Error Type TypeError Error Value run() takes exactly 3 non-keyword arguments (0 given) Error Trace Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Try.py", line 149, in render_try_except result = render_blocks(self.section, md) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Let.py", line 75, in render else: d[name]=expr(md) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Util.py", line 159, in eval return eval(code, d) File "", line 2, in f File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\Products\ExternalMethod\ExternalMethod.py", line 198, in __call__ try: return apply(f,args,kw) TypeError: run() takes exactly 3 non-keyword arguments (0 given) Thanks again Ashley _________________________________________________________________ Worried what your kids see online? Having problem with accessing zclass property sheets
by Sridevi Vanka 23 Apr '03

23 Apr '03

Hi, I have a zclass with 2 property sheets named public and private, for which I am creating instances through DTML method using the following lines: <dtml-with "manage_addProduct[ 'xxxxx' ]"> <dtml-call "Newcommit.createInObjectManager(REQUEST[ 'id' ], REQUEST )"> I am able to create an instance with the above lines. I would like to view property sheet of that particular instance immediatly so that the users can enter the properties while creating the instance. So I tried the change properties using the following line under the <dtml-with> tag: <dtml-call "propertysheets.public.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> But it gives me an error saying Error Type: Attribute error Error Value: Public Here public is the name of the property sheet. For the Zclass I did install a view with name edit and method as propertysheets.public.manage Where am I making a mistake? Re: AW: [Zope] Newbie question: Log out completely
by Mico Siahaan 23 Apr '03

23 Apr '03

Well, I used a form and cookie based auth already. I used exUserFolder product. I did try using CookieCrumbler, but I had difficulties to log into Zope Management Interface (I have written about this in this list). :) Thanks. -mico- -------Original Message------- From: Germer, Carsten Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2003 6:30:54 PM To: 'Mico Siahaan' Subject: AW: [Zope] Newbie question: Log out completely This has been discussed lengthly on the list :) If you use the standard authentification which gives users the popup window (HTTP-Basic-Auth) then there is hardly any logout possible. The browser caches the usn/pwd for the site and unless closed it will send the uns/pwd again when challenged. You can use the "Cookie Crumbler" product to switch to a form and cookie based auth. Afaik Zopes "logout" will then work. /Gem

RE: [Zope] Display status updates/preventing timeouts during long operation
by Passin, Tom 22 Apr '03

Processing of each > line of the CSV > file takes up to 1 second (I'm querying some external > systems, among other > things). These user-uploaded files can contain several > thousand lines, and > timeouts are happening before the data processing is completed. > > How can I change the process to report status and prevent > timeouts? The > user is not going to like looking at a blank page for hours > on end...I don't > either, for that matter. :) > You should change the concept of operations of the process. You should not try to keep a connection to the user's browser open for such a length of time. This ties up resources and may prevent the user from using her browser for other things. Also, with only a few requests you could easily bring your server to its knees for lack of threads. You can try to use HTTP methods, or change completely. Here are some possibilities - 1) Have your server email the results to the user when they are ready. 2) Process teh data off-line, and use the 202 (Accepted) HTTP status code, which seems to be designed for this kind of processing. Here is the definition of this status code, from RFC 2616 - "202 Accepted The request has been accepted for processing, but the processing has not been completed. The request might or might not eventually be acted upon, as it might be disallowed when processing actually takes place. There is no facility for re-sending a status code from an asynchronous operation such as this. The 202 response is intentionally non-committal. Its purpose is to allow a server to accept a request for some other process (perhaps a batch-oriented process that is only run once per day) without requiring that the user agent's connection to the server persist until the process is completed. The entity returned with this response SHOULD include an indication of the request's current status and either a pointer to a status monitor or some estimate of when the user can expect the request to be fulfilled. " Cheers, Tom P
