AW: [Zope] Caching prob with headers or reverse proxy?
by Germer, Carsten 24 Apr '03

Sorry for the late answer. Yes, that works :) but I would need to do a lot of work by hand. I understand that "Accellerated HTTP Cache Manager" doesn't do the trick? Why is it in the distribution then, anyway? Is there a way to write a function that is called on delivery of _every_ object? I could write the cache headers in there and even set them different based on Object type, Parameters, etc etc. That would do the trick that AHCM should be doing and more. /Gem > -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- > Von: Dylan Reinhardt [mailto:zope@dylanreinhardt.com] > Gesendet: Donnerstag, 17. Hello list, What is the information the session-IDs consists of (of course in crypted form)? Or asked in another way: What are the criteria to create a new one? I think it's something like: - browser id Here is also the question: What is in it? - user - kind of browser (e.g. netscape, ie) - client hostname - ??? - timestamp (or better: the previous session has ended) Is there a possibility to differ requests sent from different browser windows? Thanks in advance, Ulla.

skip the XXX_addForm
by Fabio Rolando 24 Apr '03

Hi Is it somehow possible so make the addForm for a ZClasses to be automatically posted with a generated ID? I know how to do it in Javascript but I'd rather avoid using it at this stage, is there any other way to go directly to the XXX_add script? I do generate a unique id for my objects but I still have to press the button for actually calling the XXX_add script. I've built a few Zclasses with highly customized addForm, but I need the same form to be present for changing the properties already created objects. I'd rather have an automatic creation of the object and then directing the user into the property page. In this way I would have only one form page to mantain and update and I'd also handle the automatic cataloging only in the "changeProperties" context. Thank you

It seems to have been solved, so a very big thank you to: Oliver, Dylan, Chris, Dieter, Josef, and Tom (I don't think I missed anyone, if I did, sorry!!). Thank you all so very much for all of your time and effort. The suggestion from Oliver seems to have sorted it. By the way, .. >Look at the source of the page where you see that, if your browser >tries to interpret the return value as html, this will hide things like ><type 'bla'>. You were right, I can't believe I didn't even think of looking at the source (although the things I've managed not to think of over the last couple of days have been quite amazing - sorry everyone, I hope I'm not the only one who sometimes misses the obvious under duress!). by Fearless Froggie 24 Apr '03

I noticed the other week somebody asked whether HTMLArea worked with Zope. Well, somebody is working on a zope adaptation of it: http://www.zope.org/Members/to_be/htmlarea. I haven't tried the original or the Zope version myself, but this is exactly what I'm looking for so I'm very excited! Hopefully I'll still be very excited once I've had a chance to try it out :) Rita. __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. How to use CMF with own view methods? (was: Re: [Zope] Zope Lockup (ZPublisher stops responding?)
by Jaroslav Lukesh 23 Apr '03

Hi, I have another question, but I try suggest You another point of view to Zope locking. How about your operating system? Do you have linux 2.4.21 kernel or you have something different, or different platform? In case of BSD, here are known problem with locking, see mailning list archive. With Linux 2.4 kernels <=2.4.20 here are many general problems with slowdown and locking (as I was read at czech linux mailing list). Same Zope lockout I was find in Windows NT 2000. I was move to Linux (Mandrake 9.1 with 2.4.21 kernel) and I have no problem for 3 weeks, before in windows Zope locks each 2-3 days with no significant load. I use Zope without any frontend directly from port 80, only non-intelligent corporate firewall is before. Now I have my question - would you reccomend me how to use CMF or Plone with my own view method? My view method render whole content of given folder from index_html, if here are few documents, it renders it as page segments (STX or HTML) with possible image. But I am absolutelly new to CMF, I have installed it last week and no have time to play. Many thanks, J. Lukesh ---------- Odesílatel: Jean-Francois.Doyon(a)CCRS.NRCan.gc.ca happen during a day, since we use the CMF features only for internal authoring of your site. I'd think this "locking" issue would be a problem

Josef, Thanks very much for the email. I have tried as you suggested, changing the function definition to: def run(self, fileID='mydefaultID.pdf',lines=['Error','no lines passed in']): and calling it with: <dtml-let link="sping2(fileID=fileId,lines=mylines)"> But, again I seem to get the same (or a similar) error: ===================================================================== Error Type AttributeError Error Value __getitem__ Traceback (most recent call last): File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Try.py", line 149, in render_try_except result = render_blocks(self.section, md) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Let.py", line 75, in render else: d[name]=expr(md) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Util.py", line 159, in eval return eval(code, d) File "", line 2, in f File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\lib\python\Products\ExternalMethod\ExternalMethod.py", line 205, in __call__ return apply(f,(self.aq_parent.this(),)+args,kw) File "C:\PROGRA~1\ZopeSite\Extensions\formatted-strings.py", line 29, in run for line in lines: AttributeError: __getitem__ ===================================================================== Again, if I just return lines, or fileID, before this loop, it returns the value fine. Thanks again for your help. You could write them to a file, or return them to zope, something like this - def test(lines): return `lines` In Zope, you can display the return value with <dtml-var "test(lines)"> (assuming of course that Zope knows what "lines" is, which you think you have handled already). If "lines" is truly a list of strings, the display will show that. If it is not, it is no wonder your code is not working right. Let us know the results. Cheers, Tom P
