Re: [Zope] Dreamweaver or FrontPage templates

: Odesílatel: Robert Jean <robertjean2(a)yahoo.com> : Does someone have some experience integrating : Dreamweaver or FrontPage templates into Zope or CMF? : The idea is that a Dreamweaver or FrontPage template : would be "recognized" and processed by Zope or CMF in : order to present a nice UI to the content author. Zope uses acquisition by default, so make directory tree for your site structure (eg., one page=one folder). Then you could easily make automatic navigations and templates for each group of pages just by modifying standard_html_header and standard_html_footer or other design definitions in css file. Re: [Zope] status of SOAP, XML-RPC and WebServices support in Zope2

> due to pressing needs I need to know what the status of SOAP, XML-RPC > and > WebServices support in Zope2 are. > Zope has complete, extensive support for XML-RPC. It's really quite amazing. I wrote an XML-RPC proxy some years ago that lets you proxy requests from a Zope server to another XML-RPC server (it's on zope.org) As far as I know, SOAP is not really supported by Zope directly. I suspect it could be added pretty painlessly, since there are some really nice SOAP implementations in python, but I've not really looked into it further since XML-RPC works between Java and Zope, and that has been my only non-python need so far :)

Using symlinks in CVS repository?
by Jean Jordaan 08 Apr '03

08 Apr '03

I'm asking here since Zope has been working with symlinks in its CVS repository for a while now. We're working on a number of Python Zope products, each checked in as a CVS module. We want to make a client release incorporating various of these products, and we would like to be able to cvs tag and branch the client release as a whole. We were thinking of creating symlinks inside the CVS repository:: .../product1 .../product2 .../client/project/<symlink to product1> .../client/project/<symlink to product2> The idea is that we can then say 'cvs co client/project', 'cvs tag -b client-rel-1_1-branch', tagging both product1 and product2. Will this "just work"? Are there pitfalls waiting to swallow us? -- Jean Jordaan http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za

HTML anchor using DTML?
by Herianto Tan 08 Apr '03

08 Apr '03

Hi, I'm designing a static HTML pages using DTML. Basically each page is divided into 2 sections, the header and the content. such as: <dtml-var services-navig.htm> <dtml-var services-cont.htm> In some pages, the content is too long, and they are divided into some sub-content which is linked through sub-header. The website is: http://www.gem.com.sg/services.htm For the above examples, there are 3 subheaders: 'Laboratory', 'consultation' and 'onsite' If I click on the subheading, I want it to display immediately on top of the page. I can use 'Anchor' if I use the HTML FRAME But how to do this in DTML? regards, Heri

Topics are really meant for stuff like this. If you're going to use CMF, you might take a look at CMFCommerce at the Collective on SourceForge. It's on my list of things to install, but, well, it's still on my list. --jcc

I know. __setstate__ is what I called "implicit update". But AFAIK objects which are already in memory don't get updated until the next time they get unpickeled. That's why I prefere a explicit update. I called this method refresh() in my python product. > Ok. Can you explain exactly what your refresh() method does? Example from zope mailinglist: Imaginge you have a class Foo, and some instances are already in the ZODB. Now you want to add a birthday. class Foo: def __init__(self): self.birthday=time.time() ==> Only new created objects get a birthday. Old ones don't have this attribute. You could do this: #Example (1) class Foo: birthday=0 But sometimes it is better to have a method which "refreshes" exiting objects to changes in the python source. #Example (2) class Foo: def refresh(self): if not hasattr(self, "birthday"): self.birthday=0 Then your application can have a method like refreshAllObjects(), which calls refresh on all objects. I know this does not scale if you have several thousand objects already in the ZODB, but it works for my solution. This example could be solved with the code from example 1, but sometimes you have more complex update logic which, I think, needs to be done in a method like in example 2.
