Version and lock
by Pino Silvestre 07 Apr '03

07 Apr '03

Hello everyone, is there any method (usable from script) to understand if a document is locked by a version or if a version is opened? I tried locked_in_version but it returns always true (it does not worry if the object is locked or not). Thanks to all, Pino _________________________________________________________________ Invia messaggi istantanei gratuitamente! http://www.msn.it/messenger/

Re: [Zope] Zope performance documentation - pound proxy?
by Jaroslav Lukesh 07 Apr '03

: Odesílatel: Dylan Reinhardt <zope(a)dylanreinhardt.com> : Running Apache as a front end is a good idea for any number of reasons: : : 1. Easier to run Zope *and* other services : 2. Way faster service of static files : 3. More sophisticated caching : 4. Better pattern matching : 5. Better support for SSL : 6. Better protection against DOS attacks : 7. Legacy integration : 8. And more... And what about pound proxy? www.apsis.ch/pound/ I was use pound (little older version, i think 0.8 or 0.9) before I was move Zope to Linux. minus for apache: you have need to define each virtual web in Zope and in apache together. So I need to visit our central office, log into linuxbox (it is not possible go ssh thru firewall) and make changes. If you use pound proxy, you could define virtual webs in Zope VHM only. Does somebody have similar stability reference for pound proxy? Many thanks, J. Lukesh

RE: [Zope] Python 2.2.2 & Zope 2.6.1

That was my conclusion too, and this from previous posts on this mailing list. I just wanted to make sure before I undertake this task. -----Original Message----- From: Bill Anderson [mailto:bill@libc.org] Sent: Monday, April 07, 2003 09:22 To: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] Python 2.2.2 & Zope 2.6.1 On Sun, 2003-04-06 at 23:14, Oliver Sakki wrote: > Rather use Python 2.1.3 for Zope 2.6.1, it's globally known that 2.2.2 > doesn't work with that :) I believe the official word is "not supported". I've been running it w/o problem on 2.2.2. _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Python 2.2.2 & Zope 2.6.1
by Samir Mishra 07 Apr '03

Morning all, I was planning install Python 2.2.2 from source on RH Linux (2.4.19). and I'd like to use this instance of Python for Zope too. Can I compile Zope with the above version of Zope? Is it difficult (?) I'm also new to Linux? Where can I find more information to help me along (if the answer to the above 2 questions is 'yes' and 'no)? Thanks in advance. Regards, Samir.

Move pmathml.xsl to a local folder in your Zope installation (w/ anonymous view rights) and use - <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="<dtml-var expr="BASE0 + '/path-to-xsl-file/pmathml.xsl'">"?> -----Original Message----- From: Sebastian Queißer [mailto:sebastian@queisser-net.de] Sent: Sunday, April 06, 2003 19:37 To: Dieter Maurer Cc: Zope Subject: Re: [Zope] XHTML and Zope Dieter Maurer schrieb: > Sebastian Queißer wrote at 2003-3-31 15:26 +0200: > > I've got a XHTML-Document with MathML. I think I know the problem: The xsl stylesheet I use lies in zope, when I use this one from www.w3.org it works. How can I include a stylesheet lying in Zope? The tag I use is: <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="http://www.w3.org/Math/XSL/pmathml.xsl"?> Thanks Sebastian _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Streaming Response
by Danny W. Adair 06 Apr '03

06 Apr '03

Hi, I would like to show status messages while calling a couple of functions from within a Python Script: While the script is running, I want to successively output messages like ------------------------ Doing this...ok Doing that...ok Done ------------------------ and then either redirect or display a button to move on. 1. I do _not_ want to use JavaScript 2. I do _not_ want to use the meta tag "refresh" I would like to use Response.write() to push my status messages on the fly. Since I don't know which function calls will succeed and which will fail, I do not know "Content-Length" in advance. Therefore, I would like to use a streaming/chunked response as specified in HTTP 1.1. How do I do this in Zope? I tried to do "response.setHeader('Content-Type', 'multipart/x-mixed-replace')" but couldn't get it working. (Also, it looks as if this will only work in Netscape but not IE. True?) I also tried to leave the header alone and just "Response.write()" the multipart content-type and its boundary and the content-type's of the parts, but ZPublisher just returned the plain text... I guess the answer lies somewhere in "Transfer-Encoding: chunked" but I can't figure out how to actually do it. :-) Maybe one of you guys working on HTTPResponse (Fred, Chris, Brian, Toby, Andreas) knows how to accomplish this? Thank you very much for your help, Danny P.S.: Please include my address in your reply ("Reply All") since I am currently not subscribed to this list. Thank you.

OS X problems?
by Marc Burgauer 06 Apr '03

06 Apr '03

Question for people using Mac OS X: I am experiencing some funny behaviours when using Mozilla/Netscape and Safari when trying to access Zope's management screens. Especially when accessing the root (http://www.mysite.com/manage) I often see the VIEW of the site root in the main pane of the management screen instead of the directory content. Also, with Safari, it looks like embedded content (sometimes even images, but quite consistently things like flash and audio) is not being delivered. Mozilla sometimes seem to "rewrite" management links on the fly, so that when I click on a file for editing, I get the VIEW instead. I was wondering if this is a problem of my machine's setup or if other Mac users experience similar problems. The only browser that behaves fine is IE. However I absolutely love Mozilla's tabs. I have only experienced any of these problems with Zope. (Zope 2.3 and 2.4 being used here.) Cheers Marc

XHTML and Zope
by Sebastian Queißer 06 Apr '03

06 Apr '03

Hi! I've got a XHTML-Document with MathML. This document is static and should only be served by zope. The problem is, that in older versions than 2.6.0 it is working, but since this version the document my browser (mozilla) starts loading the document, shows the title and the stops without error. This is strange, because the document is valid and it works with an older version of zope. Is this a bug or did I do something wrong? Thanks Sebastian
