Newbie - installing DirectoryStorage.
by FNk 03 Apr '03

Hi all, I'm having problems installing DirectoryStorage (both the stable and beta versions). I'm running zope-2.6.0 on a Linux Redhat distribution with a ext3 filesystem. The installation seems to be going well (e.g. everything get installed without error), but when a start Zope, I can't manage to logon. I run zope with the -u switch. Apparently, "the best workaround is to drop root privileges sooner, before starting Zope". Can somebody tell me what this means exactly ? cause I believed that I've tried this but without success. My second question is: Is there a way of installing Zope without having to use the -u switch ? Thanks for any help. FNk

Mozilla User Agent and WebDAV
by Brian Brinegar 03 Apr '03

03 Apr '03

Howdy, We have a Zope server behind an Apache Server. The Apache Server has rewrite rules that check User Agents and redirect WebDAV clients to the WebDAV port on the Zope machine. We would like to do this with Moziilla Composer. However Mozilla composer sends the same User Agent as the Mozilla browser (As best I can tell). Has anyone run into this? Is there a way to differentiate between Mozillas browser and composer? Thank you, -Brian Brinegar ECN Web Systems Developer Purdue University

Translation Web Service
by Stephan Richter 03 Apr '03

03 Apr '03

Hi all, after discussing the issues of managing translations the last two week, we had a vision of a science fiction Translation Web Service. So I sat down this morning and wrote up how I think it should work. http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/ComponentArchitecture/Translatio… Please have a read through it and comment on it. Thanks! BTW, sorry for the cross post, but I thought that this document might be of interest outside the Zope 3 Dev sub-community as well. Vocabularies and DateRangeIndexes
by Paavo Parkkinen 03 Apr '03

How do I add a vocabulary to a catalog so that the singlechars option is set, from a python script? It needs the extra.splitterSingleChars set, but I have no idea how to do that. The same problem with the DateRangeIndexes. How do I set the extra.since_field and extra.until_field? -- paavo. wu wei er wu bu wei

RE: [Zope] Problem with Python Win32 Extensions

I do not agreee with Dieter :-), I just installed Zope on a windows machine and I got the following modules: [c:\program files\zope\bin]dir win32*.* /s1b C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32 C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32\win32api.pyd C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32\win32clipboard.pyd C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32\win32event.pyd [...] C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32\lib\win32serviceutil.py C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32\lib\win32serviceutil.pyc C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32\lib\win32traceutil.py C:\Program Files\Zope\bin\lib\win32\lib\win32traceutil.pyc Perhaps Igor made an upgrade from an older Version and his z2.py got overwritten. I had the same problem. The install progam modified the swhome and the update not. # This is required path hackery for the win32 binary distribution # that ensures that the bundled python libraries are used. In a # win32 binary distribution, the installer will have replaced the # marker string with the actual software home. If that has not # happened, then the path munging code is skipped. swhome=r'C:\Program Files\Zope' if swhome != 'INSERT_SOFTWARE_HOME': import sys sys.path.insert(0, '%s/lib/python' % swhome) sys.path.insert(1, '%s/bin/lib' % swhome) sys.path.insert(2, '%s/bin/lib/plat-win' % swhome) sys.path.insert(3, '%s/bin/lib/win32' % swhome) sys.path.insert(4, '%s/bin/lib/win32/lib' % swhome) sys.path.insert(5, '%s' % swhome) Kind regards, Volker -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Maurer [mailto:dieter@handshake.de] Sent: Mittwoch, 2.
