Newbie (again) using PIDDLE with Zope

Hi, I asked a question about this a few weeks ago, and didn't get very far, so I have a more specific question for anyone using PIDDLE with Zope (or anyone else with any ideas): I am using Zope 2.5.1, Win 2000 (sorry), PIDDLE 1.0.15. As you will soon learn I am quite new to Zope, and Python, and even OOP as a whole, so please bear with me! I am hoping to use piddle to generate PDF documents on-the-fly, and the current train of thought is: in response to a user request, create a PDF document in a localfs instance, then open that document. I am currently trying to just get testpdfgen.py to work from inside Zope, as an external method. (For those unfamiliar with piddle, this should just create a test pdf document, demonstrating that it works). I have changed testpdfgen.py only very slightly - giving a (hopefully) valid filename in the localfs instance for file creation. testpdfgen is in the Extensions folder, and a few methods it requires (pdfgen, pdfutils, pdfdoc, pdfgeom, pdfmetrics) have been copied into my_Zope_Instance/bin/lib. I have an external method in Zope, called testpdfgen, which is linked to the run function in testpdfgen.py. Why a file form doesn't work in a "showModalDialog" javascript

Hi all, I included the following code in a web page to be able to upload an image into the zodb: <form method="POST" name="frmImageUpload" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="uploadImage"> Upload Image: <BR> <input type="file" name="file" size="40"/> <input type="submit" name="upload" value="upload"/> </form> The processor script "ploadImage.py begins with : ## Script (Python) "uploadImage" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace= ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath #parameters: file='' ##title=Upload an image file = context.REQUEST.get('file', '') filename = file.filename . The form works well if I use it in a web page, but when I call this webpage using a showModalDialog javascript function (I need to do this to retrieve values from the webpage when the window is closed.), the form doesn't work anymore. Actually, the uploadImage script thinks that "file" is a String and not a file anymore --> it can't retrieve the filename attribute and the rest of the script will crash. And this is just if my webpage is called from a showModalDialog javascript function. Is there any "context" related tricks here ??? Any clue on this? -- Jean

http authentication with custom forms

Hi! Quick question: Is cookieCrumbler the only Product-solution to do authentication with custom defined forms? (Leaving aside CMF, I mean...) Is there any other solution to authenticate in a Zope User Folder using custom forms and not the authentication http pop-up ? MailHost under Zope 2.6.1

Hello, I just used mailhost=getattr(context, context.superValues('Mail Host')[0].id) mailhost.send('Hello', 'you(a)something.org', 'me(a)anything.org', 'Test') to send mails under Zope 2.5.x. Once I updated to Zope 2.6.1 Mails via this method are quite strange. They have no subject in the Mail header but the body part contains: Subject: Test To: you(a)something.org From: me(a)anything.org Date: Mon, 31 Mar 2003 10:24:00 +0200 Hello This is really strange and so I searched the web and found http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/zope-List/1412602 Unfortunately that is not the solution but a hint to search the list archive for the problem. sendmail error

Hi everyone, I would like to send an email to all the users in my EasyPulbisher acl_users folder, however if the email address is wrong it breaks out of the loop. Any ideas anyone? How do I trap the errors raised by the sendmail tag?
