sendmail error
by Marie Robichon 01 Apr '03

Hi everyone, I would like to send an email to all the users in my EasyPulbisher acl_users folder, however if the email address is wrong it breaks out of the loop. My form processor is as follows: <dtml-in "acl_users.getUserNames()"> <dtml-if "acl_users.getUser(_['sequence-item']).ec_email==None"> <dtml-else> <dtml-sendmail mailhost="EasyMailService"> To: <dtml-var "acl_users.getUser(_['sequence-item']).ec_email"> From: <dtml-var "AUTHENTICATED_USER.getUserName()">@esrf.fr Subj: <dtml-var reason> <dtml-var message> </dtml-sendmail> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> Thank you! Your message to ESRF zope users was sent successfully. I have tried putting a <dtml-try> and <dtml-except> in the code but nonetheless the loop breaks and only the users up to the user where the error occurs gets my mail. Any ideas anyone? How do I trap the errors raised by the sendmail tag? Using an object's permissions and ownership properties
by Michael Long 01 Apr '03

01 Apr '03

Hi all, Is it possible to restrict access to an object to the owner of the object without creating separate roles for each object. If I have the following structure: root -- addressbook1 -- addressbook2 -- addressbook3 where each addressbook is owned by a different user. I would like to set up permissions within a product to control access to to the various methods that manipulate the data in each of these addressbooks. Some of the methods should only be available if the user has both the permission and is the owner of the addressbook. Other methods would be available to all users with the appropriate permissions regardless of ownership. I can't find much documentation showing how to use an objects ownership attribute to control access to an object. Is this a sane approach and if so how would I go about implementing this? Thanks, Mike

Detecting Mozilla based browsers
by Gilles Lenfant 01 Apr '03

01 Apr '03

Sorry, this is perhaps some OT, but perhaps some of you made this... I'm trying to detect (server side) Mozilla+Midas compatible browsers. Since this feature (Midas) is new, finding "Gecko" in the user agent signature doesn't seem to be enough. Any clue ? Does it need a Javascript helper ? Thanks in advance --Gilles

Re: [Zope-CMF] How to use the caching policy manager?
by J Cameron Cooper 01 Apr '03

Sorry, that was just a dash-off about caching. That happens when one doesn't think too hard before starting to write. >Ok, I'll reformulate the question: Would anybody provide tested examples on >what strings to use in the text fields to enable a new caching policy >manager's policy, to cache something like all images in a portal? > >I'm stuck on this subject as all I get are error tracebacks, so instead of >just fooling around asking the list whether there's a bug or not (as I >already sent the parameters I used and the resulting traceback, with no >response at all), I'd feel happy with just a few simple lines (examples) >about the right tested way to use that tool. > id: images predicate... python: content.portal_type == "Image" mod-time (default): content/modified max age: 300 Works for me. No errors in adding, at the very least. The predicate could also use meta_type, or perhaps some method of the object that decided about caching or whatnot. --jcc

Skins folder for python (non-cmf) product
by Chad Nantais 01 Apr '03

01 Apr '03

I am making a product which will act as the 'core' for a site which uses some of my customer products like 'customer' and 'salesperson'. I want any request for a page to be handled by the core product which will provide skins like main_template, customer_search_form, salesperson_add_form. What sort of hack do I need to perform so that when, for example, someone requests customer_search_form while they are in the Customer folder, the search form gets acquired from my core object? I am currently doing this by defining variables in my 'class Core:' for each possible skin. However, I want to get away from defining each skin in the core class. I want each skin in the filesystem directory Core/www to become available to all subobjects. Any hints? Thanks. Chad

RE: [Zope] Detecting Mozilla based browsers

[Gilles Lenfant] > I'm trying to detect (server side) Mozilla+Midas compatible browsers. > Since this feature (Midas) is new, finding "Gecko" in the user agent > signature doesn't seem to be enough. > > Any clue ? Does it need a Javascript helper ? > IE does not use the name "cssRules" as per the DOM Rec, while Moz does. You can discover this somewhat as follows - var stylesheet=document.styleSheets[0] var rules=stylesheet.rules var UA if (rules) { // Must be IE UA = 'IE' } else { rules = stylesheet.cssRules if (rules) { // Correct DOM name - probably Moz UA = 'Moz' } } For this to work, there must be a css stylesheet in the document, or document.stylesSheets[0] will fail. Now it may happen that some other browser would pass this test, so you would want to try several such tests. One possibility is the XMLHTTPREQUEST object, which exists in both browsers but gets instantiated differently - see http://jibbering.com/2002/4/httprequest.html Cheers, Tom P
