Call Product Constructor
by Matt Ficken 30 Mar '03

30 Mar '03

This is the __init__.py of my product (ZID): from ZIDProduct import ZID def initialize ( context ): context.registerClass( ZID, constructors = ( ZID.manage_addZIDForm, ZID.manage_addZID, ZID.manage_add_folder ) ) I want the constructor ZID.manage_add_folder to get called at the end of the initialize function. How do I do this? -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup

who is using webdav to build zope site?
by Gilles 30 Mar '03

30 Mar '03

Hello I am just curious: I try to use webdav to edit my web-sites (it was looking more promising than the external editor). Up to now I have tried the Jedit Dav plugin and skunkdav. Skundav seams much more useful. Question: what is the best (free) webdav client/editor that you have used? Thanks Gilles

I haven't used it, but I think ExternalEditor lets you launch an editor like DreamWeaver to edit an HTML document w/o the need to explicitely download it. Matt

Zope PCGI under OSX
by Victor Ng 29 Mar '03

29 Mar '03

I'm trying to get Zope to run with Apache on my OSX machine (10.2.4), but I can't figure out how to configure PCGI. I've compiled the pcgi-wrapper executable, but I'm not sure if it works - is there a way I can test it? The zope server is currently running under it's own user named 'zope' and I can access it normally under port 8080 - including the management screens. I don't seem to have a Zope.cgi (or pcgi) file created after I installed Zope 2.6.1 from source. I've tried hand building a Zope.cgi and placing it under /Library/WebServer/CGI-Executables with the following contents: #!/usr/local/zope-2_6_1/pcgi/pcgi-wrapperPCGI_NAME=Zope PCGI_PORT=8090 PCGI_MODULE_PATH=/usr/local/zope-2_6_1/lib/python/Main.py PCGI_PUBLISHER=/usr/local/zope-2_6_1/pcgi/pcgi_publisher.py PCGI_EXE=/usr/local/zope-2_6_1/pcgi PCGI_SOCKET_FILE=/usr/local/zope-2_6_1/pcgi/pcgi.soc PCGI_PID_FILE=/usr/local/zope-2_6_1/pcgi/pcgi.pid PCGI_ERROR_LOG=/usr/local/zope-2_6_1/pcgi/pcgi.log PCGI_DISPLAY_ERRORS=1 BOBO_REALM=Zope BOBO_DEBUG_MODE=1 INSTANCE_HOME=/usr/local/zope-2_6_1 How do I glue Apache to Zope using PCGI? Where can I find documentation on how to use PCGI? I get the feeling that I'm doing something wrong with permissions - but I'm lost as to what to do. vic

newbie - howto get a local javascript file to become a object in Zope
by Danny 29 Mar '03

29 Mar '03

Hi First I would like to excuse those stupid questions, but allthough Im trying its hard to find the information elsewhere. I have a javascript file located at my local harddisk and I want it to become an object in zope. I have already tried to use manage_addFile, but it doesnt seem to find the file. In Zope mangement view its easy enough to create a txt-file and get it on working, but when I want to do the exact same thing in a Product created with Python, it just wont! So far I have also tried to find some other objects that I might use instead of manage_addFile, but havent succeded yet. any idears? Regards Danny Nielsen

ZopeTree: another patch
by Jean Jordaan 29 Mar '03

29 Mar '03

Hi Philipp and all Herewith, another patch against ZopeTree-1-1. It corrects a bug in the previous patch, and changes the functionality to allow pre-expanded trees. What the patch does: - TreeObjectWrapper.__init__: signature changed to (self, obj, path=None), making path optional and getting it from obj if not provided. (Breaks backward compatability.) - ZopeTree.__init__: expanded_nodes=[] added as keyword argument, so that the tree may be primed by passing in a list of expanded nodes. If request_variable is on request, the tree has been browsed, and request_variable overrides expanded_nodes. If ZopeTree is passed a TreeObjectWrapper instance, get path from it; otherwise get it using getPhysicalPath. Included path in the cookie which is set, to stop Mozilla from setting multiple cookies at different paths. -- Jean Jordaan http://www.upfrontsystems.co.za diff -u /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py --- /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py Thu Mar 13 10:34:38 2003 +++ ZopeTree/TreeObjectWrapper.py Fri Mar 28 10:46:22 2003 @@ -29,8 +29,11 @@ __allow_access_to_unprotected_subobjects__ = 1 - def __init__(self, path, obj): - self.path = path + def __init__(self, obj, path=None): + if path: + self.path = path + else: + self.path = '/'.join(obj.getPhysicalPath()); self.object = obj self.id = obj.getId() self.folderish = obj.isPrincipiaFolderish @@ -44,7 +47,7 @@ for id in objectIds: path = posix_path_join(self.path, id) obj = getattr(self.object, id) - children.append(TreeObjectWrapper(path, obj)) + children.append(TreeObjectWrapper(obj, path)) return children def getFolderishChildren(self): diff -u /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py --- /usr/local/zope/Products/ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py Thu Mar 27 09:27:54 2003 +++ ZopeTree/ZopeTree.py Fri Mar 28 15:47:24 2003 @@ -100,15 +100,17 @@ __allow_access_to_unprotected_subobjects__ = 1 - def __init__(self, root_object, id_attr='getId', children_attr='objectValues', - request=None, request_variable='tree-expansion'): + def __init__(self, root_object, id_attr='getId', + children_attr='objectValues', request=None, + request_variable='tree-expansion', expanded_nodes=[]): tree_expansion = request.get(request_variable, "") + path = getattr(root_object, 'path', None) + if not path: + path = '/'.join(root_object.getPhysicalPath()) if tree_expansion: - request.RESPONSE.setCookie(request_variable, tree_expansion) # set a cookie right away + request.RESPONSE.setCookie(request_variable, tree_expansion, path=path) # set a cookie right away expanded_nodes = self.decodeTreeExpansion(tree_expansion) - else: - expanded_nodes = [] - + Node.__init__(self, root_object, 0, id_attr, children_attr, expanded_nodes) self.expand()

Re: [Zope] ExternalEditor/OpenOffice

It works better (oowriter.exe starts) since I put the following line: editor="F:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org1.0\program\soffice.exe" "%1" into ZopeEdit.in (Thanks to Paul!) but: after oowriter.exe has been started, I get the error-message: "ExternalEditor lost connection to Editor Process". fyi: apache + ssl + zope + zope management interface example
by Ricardo Anguiano 29 Mar '03

29 Mar '03

Greetings, Here is an example apache httpd.conf fragment which gets apache + ssl + zope to all play nicely together. If someone has a nicer way of doing this, chime in. The bonus in these instructions is that I also got the management interface to come up via ssl. I really struggled getting the RewriteRules to work right. These instructions worked for me using apache 2.0.20 and zope 2.6.1. Prerequisites ============= apache + mod_ssl are installed and functioning correctly. www.example.com and manage.example.com have the same ip address. zope runs on www.example.com port 8080. zope has a Virtual Host Monster object in the root folder. zope has a folder named "example" in the root folder. Warnings ======== - Understand SSL, and get your certificates and options right for your needs. - Verify that no important plaintext is transmitted. - Restrict remote access to port 8080 or else folks will be able to connect to the zope management interface remotely without using SSL. - Your mileage may vary. Usage and Indications ====================== - http://www.example.com serves content from zope's "example" folder. - https://www.example.com serves content from zope's "example" folder, via SSL. - http://www.example.com/manage is forbidden. - https://www.example.com/manage is forbidden. - https://manage.example.com/ brings up the "Zope Quick Start" page. - https://manage.example.com/manage brings up an authentication dialog box for the zope management interface. httpd.conf - virtual hosts section ========== NameVirtualHost * NameVirtualHost *:443 # NON-SSL EXAMPLE.COM SERVING CONTENT FROM THE "EXAMPLE" FOLDER # MANAGE INTERFACE FORBIDDEN <VirtualHost *> ServerName www.example.com RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} manage RewriteRule manage - [F] RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/www.example.com:80/example/Virtu… [P,L] </VirtualHost> # SSL EXAMPLE.COM SERVING CONTENT FROM THE "EXAMPLE" FOLDER # MANAGE INTERFACE FORBIDDEN <VirtualHost *:443> ServerName www.example.com # SSL SSLEngine on SSLCipherSuite ALL:!ADH:!EXPORT56:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+LOW:+SSLv2:+EXP:+eNULL SSLCertificateFile /etc/httpd/conf/ssl.crt/server.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/httpd/conf/ssl.key/server.key SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0 # REWRITE RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} manage RewriteRule manage - [F] RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/https/www.example.com:443/example/Vir… [P,L] </VirtualHost> # MANAGEMENT INTERFACE VIA SSL <VirtualHost *:443> ServerName manage.example.com # SSL SSLEngine on SSLCipherSuite ALL:!ADH:!EXPORT56:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+LOW:+SSLv2:+EXP:+eNULL SSLCertificateFile /etc/httpd/conf/ssl.crt/server.crt SSLCertificateKeyFile /etc/httpd/conf/ssl.key/server.key SetEnvIf User-Agent ".*MSIE.*" nokeepalive ssl-unclean-shutdown downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0 # REWRITE RewriteEngine on RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/https/manage.example.com:443/VirtualH… [P,L] </VirtualHost> -- Ricardo Anguiano http://www.codesourcery.com
