(It solves the keyword part but not the namespace argument passing that I also uses.) Now, next questions. I still have allot of DTML methods that uses variables in the namespace (by passing _.None,_) Calling these from ZPT breaks the namespace. (How) could I send the current namespace to the DTML sub-methods? how to access content inside folders of zclasses?
by einar jensen 22 Mar '03

22 Mar '03

I have this zclass "Contentbox" in the product "contentProduct". Inside the zclass i have a folder "manage_images" with some pictures. How do I reference to the content of the folder when I have instanciated my zclass? Also in the ZMI. It all looks something like this: | |-[Control Panel] | | | [ContentProduct] | | | [Contentboxzclass] | | | [folder] | | | Pic1 | Pic2 |-[testfolder] | | | [ContentboxInstance] | | | index_html | So: I want to reference the images both in the index_html in my instance of contentbox, AND in the ZMI. Is there an reference on how to do this somewhere? Best regards Einar Jensen

Problem with Versions in 2.6.1
by DeCaf 22 Mar '03

22 Mar '03

Hi, I'm a Zope newbie who just started looking at this thing. The Version functions seemed really neat up until when I tried them and I couldn't find any way to save the changes I did in my version. I tried replicating what I did on a fresh install of Zope on RedHat Linux 8.0 using the binary .tgz from zope.org. This is step-by-step what I did just after installing and starting the server (after setting some permissions and IP-adresses and stuff): I entered the ZMI and entered the Root Folder. I added a new folder with id='test' Entered folder '/test' Created version id='myversion' Entered version 'myversion' Chose "Start working in version..." Entered folder '/test' Add new DTML Document id='index_html' Entered index_html and made some changes to it. Chose 'Save Changes' Entered folder '/test' Entered version 'myversion' Chose "Quit working in ... " Entered the "Save/Discard" tab. Clicked the "Save" button. This is what I thought I should do to make the changes I did in the version public, but apparently that wasn't quite it. After this I entered the folder '/test', but there was no index_html object there, only the version object 'myversion' existed. The '/test' folder still had the red diamond and the lock after its name. If I entered the version and save/discard tab again it read "No non-empty versions" or something like that. Same thing if I went to the Control-Panel and Version Management. Is it me who is doing something wrong? Or is there a bug in Zope? Sincerely, Peter.

RE: [Zope] Need a way to prevent new members form subscribing DIR ECTLY
by Samir Mishra 22 Mar '03

I'd also be interested in finding out if there's a pre-packaged product for this. It would help me improve my code/logic. I needed to use similar logic and had to program this in. All new users have to select the appropriate approval manager (in my case, a group manager) when their account is created. The username is stored in a 'pending' list (a property associated with the group manager, i.e., a dictionary with group manager names corresponding to list of new usernames). When a group manager logs in, a list of all pending membership requests are displayed on his/her start page. The group manager will either approve the request or disallow membership, providing appropriate reasons for this to the user, etc. On approval, I move the username to a list named 'authorized', which also has a global equivalent, similar to the 'pending' list. I still haven't been able to figure out a good way of handling a user who has already been turned down for membership. - How do I handle their logins when they return? Do I redirect them? - How do I prevent him/her from applying again? (I don't think I can) I've consider allowing them to believe they've been approved when they haven't, and not providing access to certain resources. Another idea is to move them to a pre-defined group (e.g., 'Approved') with special privileges. There's no right answer, I guess I'll just have to figure out what works best for me. We're still in alpha testing. I used a combination of DTML, for display, and Python scripts, mainly for constructing/managing the property sheet(s). Of course, I'm giving you a simplified version of what we actually had to do, but the principles remains the same. HTH. I would like to put new members on "pending state" and then give the manager the ability to either approve the subscription or reject the subscription. Is there a way to do this in Plone? Is there a product available to do that? -- Jean
