Mailhost problem
by AM 21 Mar '03

21 Mar '03

I have been using the mailhost send API call to send email. I found that you cant use the character ':' (colon) in the body of the message or else the behaviour is wierd. ie email that it sends out has nothing in the subject and other fields and they are inserted in the body of the message. For eg: context.mailhost.send(messageText='test : doda\n', mto=<email>, mfrom='email', subject='test') sends in a email like this: test : doda To: aseem(a)neurobs.com From: webmaster(a)neurobs.com Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2003 15:09:59 -0800 Anybody else see this behavior?? Are there any other characters that can cause this knid of behavior and need to be filtered out?? Unable to Pack zope Database
by Mark Stangroom 20 Mar '03

20 Mar '03

Over that last few days I have been unable to pack the zope database. I get an error message saying "CorruptedTansactionError". Also when I view undo transactions I have hundreds of transactions by "Anonymous User" on my main index_html every few minutes. Can anyone tell me what is happening and what I need to do. Thanks Mark Stangroom

ZopeTime error
by Florian Konnertz 20 Mar '03

Hi all, I'm still bothered with the misbehaving ZopeTime object. If you could give me further debugging tips i would be very thankful. The story: I upgraded to 2.6.1 and ZWiki-0.16 and everthing worked well. After a certain time i get ZopeTime errors, the server is running from the beginning. I reproduced these errors with a brandnew installation of 2.6.1 and as the only product ZWiki. As an example of several errors take this one: http://openspirit.homelinux.net/noowiki/IssueTracker The issue tracker needs a catalog. With a clean catalog there are no errors, but with a fresh built one i get this error: Traceback (innermost last): * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 102, in publish * Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 43, in call_object * Module Products.ZWiki.ZWikiPage, line 221, in __call__ * Module Products.ZWiki.ZWikiPage, line 233, in _render * Module Products.ZWiki.ZWikiPage, line 416, in render_stxprelinkdtmlhtml * Module OFS.DTMLDocument, line 134, in __call__ * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_String, line 474, in __call__ * Module OFS.DTMLMethod, line 120, in __call__ * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_String, line 474, in __call__ * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_Let, line 76, in render * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_Let, line 76, in render * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_In, line 705, in renderwob * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_Let, line 75, in render * Module DocumentTemplate.DT_Util, line 204, in eval __traceback_info__: _ * Module <string>, line 2, in f NameError: global name 'ZopeTime' is not defined ----- So i logged some objects in ZWikiPage.py and other places. publishing external files
by martin f krafft 20 Mar '03

20 Mar '03

my users need to publish files from the local filesystem, which change very frequently and automatically. moreover, these files are in the users' homedirectories, so an external filesystem view doesn't work since it is confined to $ZOPEROOT. in addition, there are many new such files a day, so maintaining symlinks under $ZOPEROOT is also not an option. how can i accomplish this? -- martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \____ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:" net@madduck keyserver problems? http://keyserver.kjsl.com/~jharris/keyserver.html get my key here: http://people.debian.org/~madduck/gpg/330c4a75.asc "if they can get you asking the wrong questions, they don't have to worry about answers." -- thomas pynchon (gravity's rainbow)

localfs, how to secure for homedirs...
by Meehan, Francois 20 Mar '03

20 Mar '03

Hi all, I want to implement localfs to give users remote access to their home directories. I want to create a localfs object per user. How can I secure this, so a given user can only see his own stuff and prevent the others for accessing it? Are roles the answers? Francois

True, but why doesn't it work for you? It acts much the same as a folder ... one major difference being that you can't give properties to the contained items. > I > am trying to avoid having user take up space in the data.fs file with them > uploading images. Localfs not a folder
by McDonnell, Larry 20 Mar '03

20 Mar '03

Hi, After some testing, I finally realized that the localfs is not a folder. I am trying to avoid having user take up space in the data.fs file with them uploading images. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can handle this problem, thanks. RE: [Zope] Basic, conceptual help / advice?

My take on this... Better yet, use the CMF and keep your "controller" and "view-assisting" logic in skins code, and your data/model related stuff in your Python Product classes. In trying to explain the CMF's wide-not-deep approach to this to some people I work with, it has become clear to me that coding a Python product for the CMF (if nothing else than becuase of the skins tool) is much cleaner than trying to cram things like acquirable helper utility methods into a specialized folder class and other sorts of strange things, and living by the "logic in content types and tools, presentation and application code in skins" way of the CMF is really the easiest way to accomplish this. My CMF coding is much more compartmentalized and easier to read than the stuff from previous Zope projects I have worked on. Write a Product and put all your logic there in Python, use DTML or ZPT to do your presentation. http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZDG/current/Products.stx will help. -- Andy McKay _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://mail.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Change folders within Zope
by McDonnell, Larry 20 Mar '03

20 Mar '03

Hi, I want to thank everyone for pointing me to the localfs product. This is what I want to store all the images I expect. Now I need to point my dtml document to add these files to the localfs. I have looked at the source for addFile and this would work if I could redirect the folder location from "current" to the localfs. The form action is looking for "manage_addFile". Here's my question, can I redirect my currect folder location to my localfs or is there a place I can get a copy of manage_addFile so I can make (calling it something else) modify it to point to my localfs. Thanks. Larry McDonnell Proton Energy Systems 10 Technology Drive Wallingford, CT 06492 (203) 678-2181 Email:lmcdonnell@protonenergy.com www.protonenergy.com
