ZClass Propertysheets
by Arjan Huijzer 06 Feb '03

06 Feb '03

Hello all, Once again I find myself stuck, hoping someone might help me out: I have created a ZClass and added a propertysheet. However, I am experiencing some problems when defining the separate properties: - When I define a property to be of type 'date' I cannot leave the "value" empty. Is this a bug or is there a specific reason for this? - When I want to add a selection, I added another property of type "lines" to hold the different selection items. However, I do not want this extra property with the lines to show up on my edit screen when I manage my objects. Is this possible? - When I have created a property I cannot seem to change its name. I have tried to find the answers in the available documentation but didn't find it. Can someone please help me out here or point me to some rtelevant information I might have missed? Thanks in advance, Arjan Huijzer __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com

Zope and Sage?
by Matt Carey 06 Feb '03

06 Feb '03

does anyone have any experience of linking zope and sage (the accountancy software)? first some background: a potential new client has an existing website. they are a small book publisher, with about 100 books that they sell. their website has all these as individual static pages. they are looking to expand their line of books, and to add more value to the website. so i've recommended zope as it would be perfect for what they want to do. i'm proposing putting all their book details into a MySQL database, rather than having static pages. all fine so far. now the client has come back to me and asked about purchasing online (the existing site has a system where you can send a 'shopping list' to the publisher and they send you an invoice). they want to do purchasing online *but* they need it to connect with their copy of Sage. this is so a purchase can go directly into their Sage system and not be transfered across by hand etc. i have no idea about Sage and the Sage website talks about its own solutions. anyone got any ideas/helpful hints? cheers matt

linux/unix Apache Zope version recommendations
by Robert Allyn 06 Feb '03

06 Feb '03

Hello, I am looking at setting up a Dell PIII server for a 10 person non-profit. It will act as email and website host, and probably run mySQL. They have Mac and Windows clients. I want to utilize existing content in static HTML and migrate/add new content in Zope. It is very low volume at this point. I am no expert in Zope or Linux/unix but probably know enough to be dangerous. :-) I want to select a linux/unix version that works well with Apache/Zope. Recommendations? Apache 1.X or 2.X? I don't have a lot of time to invest in it, so I am looking for best compatibility, least hassles/work-arounds. Any info/opinions appreciated. - Robert

ANNOUNCE: CMFPortlets 0.5.2 released: Portlets get interactive
by Ausum Studio 06 Feb '03

06 Feb '03

Portlets are dynamic content units, used in corporate, educational and personalization-aware portals, that allow its users a unique and self-made experience of a session. CMFPortlets 0.5.2 is a work in progress, and currently a CMF skinset that takes over the layout of portlets made out of standard skinned folders and other portal types. Current version bundles sample portlets and a new exciting feature: the Interactive Layout. CMFPortlets 0.5.2 features: =================== - Creation of inbound portlets by any member, and inbound and external by managers, using existing syndication products and standard portal types. - Allows to add, delete, rename and set the size properties of any number of published portlets pages (a.k.a. "workspaces"), independently of the user folder existence and the file system. - Allows to add, delete and set the width of any number of columns per page - Allows to add, delete and select the box skin of any number of portlets per column.(Box skins created by managers) - Interactive layout based on Dan George's Option Chooser 1.0 and DynAPI 2.5.6, that enables the selection and switching of portlet boxes by drag and drop. Sample basic portlets features: ==================== - Porlets settings showing properties defined by managers (as public or restricted, changeable only by managers) - Default portlet properties allowing to use any portlet content either embedded within a box or in an iframe window. - External content viewable trough iframes using any already deployed portlet. - Configurable Folder viewer (displays the contents of any folder) - Sample RSS feed. (Needs EIONET's RDFSummary installed) - Interactive RGB color selector, (IE only). - "My Stuff" and "Readme" portlets. "Duplicate Class Ids" Problem while refreshing an ZClass-Based Products
by iap＠t-mode.com.tw 06 Feb '03

06 Feb '03

Hi, I have a ZClass-based product ClassA. Then, I create a folder: $INATANCE_HOME/Products/ClassA And Then `touch refresh.txt` under that folder. And also create a __init__.py (for allowing PythonScripts to use more modules.) After all, I execute manage_refresh to fresh my ClassA(thought, the "Refresh" tab doesn't show up). Below is what I got: --------------------------------------------------------------- An exception occurred during the last refresh. Exception type: Duplicate Class Ids Exception value: None Traceback (innermost last): Module App.RefreshFuncs, line 182, in performSafeRefresh Module App.RefreshFuncs, line 171, in performRefresh Module OFS.Application, line 759, in reinstall_product Module OFS.Application, line 637, in install_product - __traceback_info__: eNotice Module App.Product, line 524, in initializeProduct Module OFS.ObjectManager, line 272, in _setObject Module OFS.ObjectManager, line 280, in manage_afterAdd Module ZClasses.ZClass, line 419, in manage_afterAdd Module ZClasses.ZClass, line 373, in _register Duplicate Class Ids -------------------------------------------------------------------Can I take this issue as a "bug" or I shouldn't abuse ZClass/Refresh like that. Thanks for your attention.Iap, Singuan

Re: [Zope] truncations in form input due to quotes problem
by Chris Beaumont 06 Feb '03

Jim, Yes, I know, and I use sqlvar on the final step, but this is a multi-page form and I use hidden form fields to pass the values from the first page to the second.. *then* I save the data to my database on the last step.. But your suggestion makes me realize that perhaps the multi-page form isn't the way to go, since that seems to be where the truncation is occuring.. Thank you.. -Chris > On Wed, Feb 05, 2003 at 04:08:54PM -0800, Chris Beaumont wrote: > > I have some HTML forms that feed their data to a ZSQL method for > > insertion into a database.. Re: [Zope] Apache and zope
by AM 06 Feb '03

you have two macines a.com and b.com. You want to serve your content only out of a.com. a.com runs apache and b.com runs zope. now in apache on a.com create a virtual host ( ip based not name based - look at apache docs ) which uses rewrite rules as described in the link. on b.com instantiate a VHM and start zope. that will basically take care of all your needs. Now this scenario means that your zope instance is only accessible from a.com. If however you dont want to use a sub domain name, only rewrite rules, that means that your zserver is directly accessible from the outside world and not through a.com One of the main reasons for fronting zope with apache is to prevent this ( stability, robustness and serving static contents too ... ) So if you dont want the sub domain, why dont you fire up an instance of apache on b.com itself and use rewrite rules or mod_proxy hth AM Tiller, Michael (M.M.) wrote: >Now I'm confused. truncations in form input due to quotes problem
by Chris Beaumont 06 Feb '03

06 Feb '03

I have some HTML forms that feed their data to a ZSQL method for insertion into a database.. I've been having a problem with the input to the fields getting truncated.. I think this is due to quotes in the input text.. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Its common for people to use quotes in the input to HTML forms.. Thanks, Chris

Accessing select_variable within a Python product
by Jon Whitener 05 Feb '03

05 Feb '03

I'm trying to develop my first Python product, whose main object class is CableChannel. One of CableChannel's properties is a multiple selection, categories, as below: _properties = ( # ...Other properties... {'id': 'categories', 'type': 'multiple selection', 'select_variable': 'channel_categories', 'mode': 'w'}, ) Within the module, I've assigned a list of strings to channel_categories, but I'm confused about how to access (and 'tal:repeat' over) channel_categories from the product's add form, manage_addCableChannel form (a ZPT). If I assign channel_categories within the CableChannel class / module, how can I access the list from the add form, which lies in a subfolder of the CableChannel directory in the Products directory? Moreover, is there a better place to define channel_categories so that it is more easily accessible not only from the add / edit forms of the product, but also from Zope instance space? (I originally created this class as a ZClass, and channel_categories was a Script (Python) in instance space Root, so I could access it anywhere in instance space.) Thanks in advance, Jon Whitener Detroit Michigan USA
