Session added by product data lost when session is altered by a dtml method.
by Sean K 31 Jan '03

31 Jan '03

Hi all, I have a python product that stores some data in the session object and displays it in it's dtml presentation methods - all good! When I add session data from a dtml-method in the zodb my session data added by the product is lost. My question is Why. The product class inherits SimpleItem.SimpleItem (I can change that if needs be) and I haven't implimented any security declerations yet so the product's methods are not protected. The funny thing is that I can access and change the session variables from another product I have made without killing what is already there but after doing that, I can't alter it with the original product. The second product does have permissions set however the only permission you need is View for the method that alters the session data. Thanks in advance for any advice, Sean Kemplay __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com

[Ann] ZopeProfiler: high and low level timing statistics
by Dieter Maurer 31 Jan '03

31 Jan '03

ZopeProfiler provides profiling support for the development of Zope applications. It can derive both high and low level timing statistics (Zope object call and Python function call level, respectively). Unlike with the standard Zope profiling support, Zope runs normally in multi-threaded mode. Statistics gathering can be enabled/disabled dynamically via the ZopeProfiler object in the Control_Panel. This objects supports most features of Python's pstats.Stats timing analysis class and is much smarter than the standard Zope profiler. Should the features be insufficient, then statistics data can be saved to files and later analysed with Python's Stats class. Acquisition and/or Traversal ?
by D2 30 Jan '03

30 Jan '03

Needing a starting point to understand how traversal and acquisition work, would you give me some hints to solve the type of problem below ? In this example company, a subsidiary must establish proposal based on a product list. If it doesn't have products, it must use the headquarter's ones. 1 with this hierarchy, how can i reach the Product list in the Products Folder from Proposal 1 of Subsidiary 1 ? 2 If Products weren't folder but objects and items weren't contained objects but properties of Products, would the solution be the same ? XML-RPC Error
by Zope＠Stylus 30 Jan '03

30 Jan '03

HI all I am working on an VB.NET client side application that sends requests in XML-RPC to a Zope server running on Linux(Mandrake 8.0) The request calls a python script and it returns a String . But when there are multiple requests (i.e; from different machines on the network) .the XmlRPc Server throws an XML RPC Fault Error. Does XML-RPC Server maintain a record of the IP address of the client machine that sent the request so that it can respond back to the same machine? I am confused as to how exactly the Xml Rpc Server understands where the response is to be sent. Is the error arising because the Server is not sending the response back to the Client from which the request came. I am capturing the IP of the machine from which the request comes and so am able to track if the request comes from a particular machine. 1) I want to clarify if I have to explicitly send the response to the client with respect to the IP I have captured...IF so how can I do this with the exisiting xmlrpc library.Where can I specify which machine the response is to be sent to. 2)Can I send a response to a machine other than the machine from which the request came? 3)Is request and response automatically handled by the XMl RPC server? Help in any form is appreciated. Thanks and Best Regards John Kunchandy --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Niewbie: DTML namespace
by Pino Silvestre 30 Jan '03

30 Jan '03

I'm sorry for this (maybe) silly question, probably I didn't undestand the DTML namespace very well. I have this code quite similare to the guest book on the Zope Book example. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('docRef', _[docId])"> <p> <b> <dtml-with docRef> On <dtml-var "getProperty('date')" fmt="aCommon"> <dtml-var "getProperty('guest_name')" html_quote> says: <br> </dtml-with> <dtml-var docRef html_quote newline_to_br> </b> </p> docId is passed as parameter by a link (something like: <a href="Folder/MethodName?docId=entry>, where entry is the name of a DTML Document) My problem is the variable docRef doesn't reference the object. I can't nor access the properties neither the methods. Result of this is: On None, None says: <text in docRef> Do I get the reference in a wrong way? ZPT for database manipulation
by martin f krafft 30 Jan '03

30 Jan '03

Is there a ZPT framework or some other tool I can use to integrate a database manipulation interface within my ZPT-base site? I want users to be able to pull a record from a database into a web form (SELECT), to be able to submit that form with updates (UPDATE), and to use a different form to create new records (INSERT). Before I start hacking away, I would like to know if this already exists. Thanks, -- Please do not CC me! Setting the "selected" attribute in zpt
by Max M 30 Jan '03

30 Jan '03

I have a Python product with the values: self.languages = ['dk','uk'] self.language = 'uk' I am trying to rewrite a bunch of old proucts with these new-fangled PageTemplates. But I cannot seem to set the selected attribute correctly: <select name="language" class="selector"> <option tal:repeat="langItem here/languages" value="" tal:attributes="value langItem; selected python:langItem==here.language" tal:content="langItem">Language</option> </select> The rendered source looks like this: <select name="language" class="selector"> <option value="dk">dk</option> <option value="uk" selected="selected">uk</option> </select> This (selected="selected") doesn't work in the browsers. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? -- hilsen/regards Max M Rasmussen, Denmark http://www.futureport.dk/ Fremtiden, videnskab, skeptiscisme og transhumanisme

Permissions Problem When Adding ZObject
by Rob Thorne 30 Jan '03

30 Jan '03

I'm trying to figure out a permissions problem. This post from 23 December describes almost exactly my problem. Since I didn't see a solution on the list, here it is: --- In zope(a)yahoogroups.com, Catonano <a.peluso@f...> wrote: > Hello all, > > I'm tring to execute this script: > > lista = [] > folder = container.indice2() #indice2 is a ZCatalog > for file in folder: > if not file.hasProperty('codice'): > lista.append(file.id) > attributes=getattr(folder, file) > attributes.manage_addProperty('codice', 'inserted yet', 'string') > return lista > > I borrowed the idea from the /Examples/GuestBook/addEntry script > > Zope prompts me for a user name and passwd, I type my usual account > data (I'm the only user and I think I have full privileges) and BAM! > > Zope Error > > Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. > > Error Type: Unauthorized > Error Value: You are not allowed to access in this context > > Troubleshooting Suggestions > > * The URL may be incorrect. > * The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. > * A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an > error. > > For more detailed information about the error, please refer to the HTML > source for this page. > > If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. With VerboseSecurity installed, I get the error: *Error Type: Unauthorized* *Error Value: Your user account, Anonymous User, does not have the required permission. Access to 'FarmUserClass' of (FactoryDispatcher instance at 8adcc80) denied. Access requires one of the following roles: ['Manager']. Your roles in this context are ['Anonymous']. or **Error Type: Unauthorized* *Error Value: The object is marked as private. Access to 'propertysheets' of (ZClass instance at 89d2628) denied.* When I execute the script, I'm logged in as a manager user as defined in the top level acl_users folder. The app is a modification of the JobBoard tutorial posted on the Zope.org site (http://www.zope.org/Members/mukhsein/job_board_howto/index_html?pp=1) The tutorial works in my Zope instance, but the adapted version fails as above. I've done the v. 2.2+ suggestion in the tutorial; it doesn't help either. I'll add more detail if someone can suggest what kind of information is relevant. But for now, just finding better information about how permissions work would probably help. Thanks, Rob -- Rob Thorne Torenware Networks http://www.torenware.com

Problem with Zclass Property Sheet
by pieter claassen 30 Jan '03

30 Jan '03

Hello, I have developed a product with ZClasses called Newster. The newsclass contains a subclass called message that contains the messages. Everything works really swell (you can see the frontpage at www.openauth.co.uk <http://www.openauth.co.uk/> ) but I have the following problems: 1. I tried to create a Boolean property in the message class basic property sheet to tick to expire messages. However, when I create a propert_sheet_interface, the template code is generated fine except that for some reason the Boolean property doesn't work properly. I cannot unselect it once it is selected and no matter how much I scratch around in the code, I cannot resolve this issue. In the end I replaced the Boolean property with a string object and just set it from 0 to 1 when I want to expire messaged. Is this a known issue and is there a Boolean based workaround? 2. Also, how do I give my Zope product an icon in the free view? I guess I have to set this somewhere in the Zclass, but how? All help appreciated, Thanks, Pieter
