Inconsistent behaviour in DateTime comparisons

I've got a PostgreSQL DB with date fields, and am using ZpsycopgDa (1.0.13) to connect Zope to it. What I am needing to do is to compare "now" with a date filed stored in the DB. I can get it out just fine, but the comparison is not consistent. I'm doing it in a a Script (Python). (m is smartbrains-enhanced ZSQL result) if DateTime().lessThan( m.expiresdate ): add m to a list else: pass return a list Sometimes it returns correctly, others it returns the opposite of what I want. getting info on permissions

I'm currently in need of some code (for debugging reasons) that will show me what permissions are in affect for a give role in a given context. It needs to include acquired permissions as well. I've looked around for some api calls to get me this info. The closest thing I've found is context.permissionsOfRole(myRole). Unfortunately that only lists permissions defined for that role on that context, not the acquired ones as well. Stop Zope, make backup copies, and so forth so you can return to the current state if you need to. Use the tools in the utilities/ZODB and/or lib/python/ZODB to examine the database. I've used fsrecover.py. Determine the size of Data.fs at the point you want to rollback to. Use a utility (I used dd under linux) to truncate Data.fs to that size. Bring up Zope using the truncated Data.fs and you should be back in business.

TAL: test() or condition Howto?

Hi, I have the followong TAL-expression: <td tal:content="structure python:here.test(myImportantCondition and myExpensiveMethod(), myExpensiveMethod(), 'myDefaultString')">myDefaultString</td> To execute 'myExpensiveMethod()' 'myImportantCondition' must be 'true'. But I want to avoid to execute 'myExpensiveMethod()' two times. How can I achive that? As default-value myDefaultString should be served. I don't know a way with tal:condition 'cause on 'false' there is no way to get 'myDefaultString', isn't it? -- many thanks for your replies, Elena

I think I might also have seen a situation where dd worked to create a large file but tar didn't and ls output an incorrect file size (this was on Debian Potato / SPARC with a 64 bit 2.2 kernel and 32 bit user-space, likely becuase the C library didn't have LFS support and/or the apps I was running as compiled didn't use it). Making sure that your C library, kernel, and Python, and other tools have LFS support is a pain enough, but this is generally solved for you with any newer Linux distribution like Debian 3.0 (Debian python2.1 packages have LFS support - I have had 3-4 GB Data.fs files on a recent Debian box) and newer versions of RedHat. dtml expr question

Hello all, I'm working on a editPropertyForm on the editform of ZWiki. Please help me with this issue: Why can i do: <dtml-var "getPropertyType(x_sequence_key)"> but not: <dtml-let ptype="getPropertyType(x_sequence_key)"> </dtml-let> I get: File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.0-src/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 695, in renderwob (Object: propertyItems) File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.0-src/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_Let.py, line 76, in render (Object: ptype="getPropertyType(x_sequence_key)") KeyError I looked for similar examples and it looks always like < dtml-let variable="method(blah)" > - How can this be done?
