Re: Debunking beehive

Hello, As I stated in my last email I'm more than happy to answer any questions if they are mailed to me. I apologize for this thread. It is absolutely clear to me that the zope(a)zope.org list is for discussing Zope and not beehive, Hans, or myself. For this reason I would like this to be my last posting on this subject. I don't understand why Hans is choosing to be vindictive -- for example accusing former collegues of bad work (articles), pretends to know anything about the operations of beehive, comments by partners and customers supposedly saying things like "Never again!" -- when he had no real personal contact with any of them. His postings are a litany of false accusations, half-truths, baseless personal attacks on myself (even family), and i have difficulty seeing how this is supposed to be helpful in *any form*. Quite the contrary -- its damaging. Everything I wrote in my last email still stands. ZopeMag is being relaunched. Existing subscribers are getting more than what they paid for (in this case more than 1 years worth of content), and I know that people like Nico Grubert, K. Kirchner, and myself are more committed than ever to making this magazine work -- even if we have to work for free! (Imagine that;-) Several people are joining ZopeMag including our new editor Eric-Peter Germain. If you feel that beehive treated you badly, want to blame me or any of the people I have or am working with, have questions, please contact me directly and not this list. This applies to *Hans* as well. Thank you! Mark Pratt -- ZopeMag - the only magazine devoted to Zope!

Debunking beehive

ZopeMag wrote: > ... debunking FUD ... Debunking? That's a good idea. I like that. At June, 20th 2002 beehive has declared insolvency. According to the insolvency lawyer in charge, beehive at August, 31st 2002 has officially terminated any business activity. I have a lawsuit against beehive (by now its insolvency lawyer), involving, among others, unpaid wages and a written testimonial. The lawsuit started before beehive went bankrupt. The wages were contracted, but not paid. German working law entitles employees to a testimonial, as german HR-Managers do believe in testimonials. The date and place in court for the lawsuit will be Tuesday, February, 4th, 2003 at 09:00 hours, Room 105. Arbeitsgericht Berlin Magdeburger Platz 1 10785 Berlin (Entry Magdeburger Platz/Genthiner Str.) Mark Pratt comitted breach of written contracts signed by himself. He has refused to fulfill obligations of german working law, in spite beeing given the opportunity to do so several times. By now, the insolvency lawyer is in charge. Convince yourself. Or email me. ZopeMag wrote: > ... very well received articles ... Well, an allegation is no proof. As for the people having written for ZopeMag, at least Michel Pelletier has left beehive long before bankruptcy. Maybe someone asks Michel, why. His articles still are published ... Thats all the facts, for now. Hi, its quite easy to allow the import of re in your scripts if you want. Just put a directory with an __init__.py file in lib/python/products that has the following content: from Products.PythonScripts.Utility import allow_module allow_module('re') -- Elena

Dynamically generating fielsd in a form
by aborel 21 Jan '03

21 Jan '03

Hello, Some questions on tal:repeat. 1) Generating fields I have an object called 'process' this object contains a list of steps to follow to perform the process. A step have a type that may be 'unique' or 'repeated' For example : an invoice CustomerId : Unique step ProductId : Repeated step (number of repetitions undefined) ProductId : 1 (sub-step) ProductId : 2 (sub-step) ... ProductId : n (sub-step)(repeated until user chosees next step) NetDue : Unique step What i want to do is to generate fields steps by step depending on the type of the step by using tal:repeat to loop over the list of steps and display the rights fields. A 'unique' step will have one submit button : Next Step A 'repeated' step will have to submit buttons : Validate (to fill in a new sub-step) and Next Step. Tal:repeat is useful on 'uniqu'e steps but when i encounter a 'repeated' step, i can't use it as it's not a sequence and the number of repetitions is undefined. Any Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 2) Validating fields Is it possible to use Python scripts instead of Ecma scripts on core events like onBlur, Onclick and so on ? 3) Displaying the fields Each time a field is filled in, i'd like to display it at the end of a listing without re-redenring all the web page, just the changes (understandable ??? ;-)). How this is managed ? 4) Storing the generated objects The form template will be called from various place on the site so how do i indicate the exact place to store the generated objects ? Thanks Andre

RE: [ZOPE] suggestions on getting started

Michael, Your best bets for decent tutorials, as far as I've seen so far (I've only been using it for a little while!) are The Zope Book (http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/current) and the tutorial that comes packaged with Zope. Hope this helps! Cheers, P -----Original Message----- From: Michael.Coll-Barth(a)VerizonWireless.com [mailto:Michael.Coll-Barth@VerizonWireless.com] Sent: Tuesday, 21 January 2003 10:15 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [ZOPE] suggestions on getting started All, Does anyone have any suggestions for reading materials on Zope. I am not looking for books, rather, something along the lines of a spoon feeding. A 'Guido' like tutorial on Zope would be wonderful. I will be working with a group that already has a python/Zope/Apache/RH Linux application up and running. I don't want to drag them down with Zope related questions without trying it on my own. Yes, I did try Zope.org and zopenewbies.net. thanks, Michael _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Edit raw structured text in web form?
by davelehman＠loewen.com 21 Jan '03

21 Jan '03

I have a web form that allows editors to add press releases to our intranet. The main field is called "content" and is structured text. I can render the STX into HTML using: <dtml-var content fmt=structured-text> Now, I would like to create an "editForm" to allow the editor to edit the press release after it's been created. My form shows the existing content field like this: <td>Content:</td> <td><textarea class="text" name="content:text" rows="15" cols="62"><dtml-var content></textarea></td> The content can contain proper typographic elements such as quotes (“ and ”). But in the edit form, the typographic elements are being rendered as a quotation mark, not as the original “. Thus, when the editor saves the edited release, the "content" field now contains the typographic quote instead of the raw "“". Is there a way to force the raw STX to show up in the editForm textarea field (as it does in the ZMI) instead of letting the browser render it into it's typographic equivalent? (Hmmm... I suppose if I knew where to look, I should be able to find this out by browsing the ZMI source?) --dave

There is a good How-To at: http://www.zope.org/Members/markoer2/resources/howtos/redhat_7.3_startup Check the "ZServer + Apache" for some discussion on creating a rewrite rule for Zope. There is also a section on "Running virtual hosts". --dave --- In zope(a)yahoogroups.com, "Moore, Paul" <Paul.Moore@a...> wrote: > This is bound to be trivial. Zope and Apache
by Moore, Paul 20 Jan '03

20 Jan '03

This is bound to be trivial. But I can't find an answer by searching the Zope site, and the list search gave me no obvious hits. So apologies if this is a FAQ - if it is, then a pointer to the appropriate documentation would be much appreciated. I am completely new to Zope - I've just installed it on my machine to investigate it. I want to integrate the Zope site into my existing Apache 2 setup. Looking at the Zope+Apache HOWTO that I found, it seems that what I want is simply to use ProxyPass, via ProxyPass /Zope http://localhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse /Zope http://localhost:8080/ However, when I do this, I get an Apache error "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /Zope on this server.". The Apache installation in question is an out-of-the-box binary install on Windows (I'm not an Apache expert, either...). I'm guessing that I need some sort of permission changes on the Apache side, but I don't know what. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help, Paul.

RE: [Zope] Large File Support (LFS) in Zope
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 20 Jan '03

One option, if you are using Linux and able to use ReiserFS is to consider switching to DirectoryStorage instead of using FileStorage. This should be fairly scalable, but is likely a Linux-only solution for now. http://dirstorage.sf.net Unless you have very, very big objects, the file-size issue becomes a non-issue with this approach, and you don't have to worry about large-file support at all the various layers. Another option is just to compile python from source with LFS yourself (search Google for this), and use that python binary to run Zope from source. Yet a third option is to use Zope 2.6's binary install, which I believe has LFS support built-into its python. For LFS to work, you need a relatively new C library and Linux 2.4 kernel (though 2.2 kernels work fine on 64 bit platforms). Sean -----Original Message----- From: Josef Meile [mailto:jmeile@hotmail.com] Sent: Monday, January 20, 2003 12:26 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Large File Support (LFS) in Zope Hi, last December my Zope crashed because of the large file support or that's what I found searching on the lists. I got the message: Aiieee! 2365 exited with error code: 25 In my previous message: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zope/message/105508 I was told to install a new version of linux and to compile python with large file support, thing that I did in my original installation: Suse 7.3, Zope 2.5.1 I didn't install Suse 8 because, as I read, 7.3 comes already with large file support. (Am I wrong?) Anyway, I just want to know how the people with large databases is handling this. (I mean without using LocalFS or similars) Thanks in advanced, Josef _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )
