Dynamically generating fielsd in a form

Hello, Some questions on tal:repeat. 1) Generating fields I have an object called 'process' this object contains a list of steps to follow to perform the process. A step have a type that may be 'unique' or 'repeated' For example : an invoice CustomerId : Unique step ProductId : Repeated step (number of repetitions undefined) ProductId : 1 (sub-step) ProductId : 2 (sub-step) ... ProductId : n (sub-step)(repeated until user chosees next step) NetDue : Unique step What i want to do is to generate fields steps by step depending on the type of the step by using tal:repeat to loop over the list of steps and display the rights fields. A 'unique' step will have one submit button : Next Step A 'repeated' step will have to submit buttons : Validate (to fill in a new sub-step) and Next Step. Tal:repeat is useful on 'uniqu'e steps but when i encounter a 'repeated' step, i can't use it as it's not a sequence and the number of repetitions is undefined. Any Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 2) Validating fields Is it possible to use Python scripts instead of Ecma scripts on core events like onBlur, Onclick and so on ? 3) Displaying the fields Each time a field is filled in, i'd like to display it at the end of a listing without re-redenring all the web page, just the changes (understandable ??? ;-)). How this is managed ? 4) Storing the generated objects The form template will be called from various place on the site so how do i indicate the exact place to store the generated objects ? Michael, Your best bets for decent tutorials, as far as I've seen so far (I've only been using it for a little while!) are The Zope Book (http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/current) and the tutorial that comes packaged with Zope. Edit raw structured text in web form?

I have a web form that allows editors to add press releases to our intranet. The main field is called "content" and is structured text. I can render the STX into HTML using: <dtml-var content fmt=structured-text> Now, I would like to create an "editForm" to allow the editor to edit the press release after it's been created. My form shows the existing content field like this: <td>Content:</td> <td><textarea class="text" name="content:text" rows="15" cols="62"><dtml-var content></textarea></td> The content can contain proper typographic elements such as quotes (“ and ”). But in the edit form, the typographic elements are being rendered as a quotation mark, not as the original “. Thus, when the editor saves the edited release, the "content" field now contains the typographic quote instead of the raw "“". Is there a way to force the raw STX to show up in the editForm textarea field (as it does in the ZMI) instead of letting the browser render it into it's typographic equivalent? (Hmmm... I suppose if I knew where to look, I should be able to find this out by browsing the ZMI source?) --dave

Zope and Apache

This is bound to be trivial. But I can't find an answer by searching the Zope site, and the list search gave me no obvious hits. So apologies if this is a FAQ - if it is, then a pointer to the appropriate documentation would be much appreciated. I am completely new to Zope - I've just installed it on my machine to investigate it. I want to integrate the Zope site into my existing Apache 2 setup. Looking at the Zope+Apache HOWTO that I found, it seems that what I want is simply to use ProxyPass, via ProxyPass /Zope http://localhost:8080/ ProxyPassReverse /Zope http://localhost:8080/ However, when I do this, I get an Apache error "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /Zope on this server.". The Apache installation in question is an out-of-the-box binary install on Windows (I'm not an Apache expert, either...). I'm guessing that I need some sort of permission changes on the Apache side, but I don't know what. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help, Paul.

One option, if you are using Linux and able to use ReiserFS is to consider switching to DirectoryStorage instead of using FileStorage. This should be fairly scalable, but is likely a Linux-only solution for now. http://dirstorage.sf.net Unless you have very, very big objects, the file-size issue becomes a non-issue with this approach, and you don't have to worry about large-file support at all the various layers. Another option is just to compile python from source with LFS yourself (search Google for this), and use that python binary to run Zope from source. Yet a third option is to use Zope 2.6's binary install, which I believe has LFS support built-into its python. For LFS to work, you need a relatively new C library and Linux 2.4 kernel (though 2.2 kernels work fine on 64 bit platforms). Can't create ZClass constructors

Hi there. My ZOPE 2.6 installation has been working fine so far. However, since the last couple of days I can't create ZClasses constructor objects to my product. That is, I can create a ZClass, but only if I DO NOT check "Create constructor objects?" checkbox. If I DO check it and click on Add button, I get the following error: Error Type: KeyError Error Value: title This happens if I try to add ZClass in any product. Any clues how to fix this?
