Batches in ZPT: not stateful, yet...
by Tom Emerson 22 Jan '03

22 Jan '03

Greetings, I have a question about batches in ZPT (and in <dtml-in>, for that matter.) Given the stateless nature of HTTP, how is the batch itself persisted across calls to display a portion of the batch? For example, if I get a database search returning several hundred (or thousand) rows, of which I display 50 at a time, I (or Batch) presumably needs to cache those values somewhere: or is it assumed that the sequence will be regenerated within the bounds set? Obfuscating Python script
by Satheesh Babu 22 Jan '03

22 Jan '03

Hello, This must sound like the silliest and oxymoronic question, but I apologize in advance :-) I need to make an app running off of an Access DB pretty quickly. There are some confidential validations based on some confidential data. The logic needs to be on for-your-eyes-only basis. My thinking is to implement logic using Python scripts. Is there any way one can obfuscate the script? May be write it as an ExternalMethod and only put in .pyc in Extensions? Another way to do this would be to implement validation only in Javascript which can be pretty easily obfuscated. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Vattekkat S Babu http://vsbabu.org/

RE: [Zope] Returning and showing value of a checkbox

They are either checked or not checked. Your two options are: <input type=checkbox name=whatever checked> <input type=checkbox name=whatever> That's all they do, other attributes will be ignored. In your template file, insert the string "checked" into your tag if the value corresponding to this box is true. If it isn't, don't. The code to do that in DTML and ZPT was posted earlier. When you process the form, use something like the following to get the value of your checkbox: my_box_value = REQUEST.form.get('my_checkbox_name', 0) If the box isn't checked, the name of the box may not be posted to your processing script. In that case, get() provides a not-found value of zero, corresponding to a "false" value you'd want to have received from an un-clicked checkboxes. Does that help? Dylan

I am regrouping and looking at what I am trying to do. Jim, that was a very good idea and what it looks like, maybe I should be using Python to grab the data from my db? Neither the DTML or the ZPT worked in this instance. The form I am bringing in the data that has already been saved, it still does not bring in the check...WAIT! should I be saving the value of the checked box, into my table, as "checked" rather than "1"??? or does it even matter. By further explanation: in the Method before this form, where I issue the call to the dbtable to extract an exact article, I save the value of the checkbox (main) to a variable called Main. I then Set the value to Main in the updateArticle_html (my form to view the data). This is the form that I am having the problem with. It seems that where you issue the <input type="checkbox"...> any value stated is what the value of the checkbox is when you write the value out. But when you want to read the value and the checkbox showing as checked is seems that the form needs to be referencing some other function rather then the <input type="checkbox"...> Am I off? This data was processed in the original form and I saved it to a table in PostgreSQL. I query the table and retrieve the value of the check box. Don: this question is a bit confused.... 1) Do you want to know how to create a form which has a checkbox which is pre-checked depending on the query? 2) Do you want to know how to process forms with checkboxes in them? or 3) both? Returning and showing value of a checkbox
by Don Brooksby 21 Jan '03

I am a 1 year old newbie and 1st time participant to the email group...working on a total website using PostgreSQL in the background. I have hit a wall where help would be appreciated. In a nut-shell, I have an area where employees can submit articles of industry info for our customers. In that article submission they check off a checkbox denoting what specific customer sub-web they want it published. I then have an area where they can go back in and edit the article or delete totally. The only problem I have is showing in the checkboxs what was selected when they first submitted the article. Of course when I have the following: I bring in the value from another DTML Method reading the request from PostgreSQL: <input type=hidden name="main" value="<dtml-var main>"> In the form I have the checkbox show up in the form, but it is not checked if the value pulled from the db is appropriate: <td><b>Main:</b></td> <td><input type="checkbox" name="newmain" value="1"></td> I have tested that the value is appropriate, but cannot figure how to show that checkbox as filled if it is supposed to be (1 as checked and 0 as not checked). I am figuring that Python will be the solution, but if the employee wants to uncheck the box, how is that handled with a dtml instance? Thank you Don Brooksby

Hi I wanted to use load_site.py, but it seemed to fail, because of errors like: 400 Bad Request for .......manage_addFolder and also because I don't have Zpublisher installed. Some files were imported, but no subfolders. The thing is I cannot find out where to download Zpublisher from. Any ideas about what I should be doing will be welcome as I am completely new to Zope Gerhard Venter www.tobintax.org.uk == Download ringtones, logos and picture messages at Ananzi Mobile Fun. http://www.ananzi.co.za/cgi-bin/goto.pl?mobile

DCWorkflow install: CMFCore.utils missing
by Florian Konnertz 21 Jan '03

Hello Zopies, I setup a development Zope instance, it has to look like the production one, so i have to install the DCWorkflow product even i don't need it (yet). Installing and restarting the server as usual throws the following error:: root@grooveway:/usr/local/Zope-2.5.0-src# ./start ------ 2003-01-21T21:42:04 ERROR(200) Zope Could not import Products.DCWorkflow Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.0-src/lib/python/OFS/Application.py, line 531, in import_product File /usr/local/Zope-2.5.0-src/lib/python/Products/DCWorkflow/__init__.py, line 19, in ? ImportError: No module named CMFCore.utils Rest is ok; CMF-1.3. was installed successfully before. CMFCore.utils are part of CMF-1.3, aren'they? So why are they missed? Please point me to the right direction Thank you in advance, Florian -- Florian Konnertz --- http://www.florian-konnertz.de ------------------------------------------------------- http://openspirit.homelinux.net/noowiki/FrontPage Improved ZWiki about all topics, especially consciousness research and wisdom traditions http://www.openmovie.org multimedia project Have a nice day!

Allowed SQL statements for ZSQL
by andreas rippel 21 Jan '03

21 Jan '03

Hi all, I'm looking for the SQL grammar, which is allowed/supported by ZSQL. E.g. the point is, how does ZSQL support sql-transaction expressions. E.g. "select NOW()" is a legal expression for MySQL, but causes a parse-error in ZSQL. There seems to be a "standard" inclusion of a limit clause within ZSQL for security and/or overflow reasons. Does anybody know the grammar? Are there considerations to suit or extend the grammar? Thanks Andreas

Hi! where can I read about the description about the persmissions in zope (access transient data, access contents information, ...) I want to limit the permission of a role to be able to upload/delete a file in his folder using the management window. What permissions should I allow?
