restart from the control pannel ... not restarting
by Gaspard, Bradley S 13 Jan '03

13 Jan '03

I've installed Zope 2.6.0 from source on a linux box (SuSE 7.2). Everything runs fine except it does not restart from the control panel. I'm sure this must be some privilege issue. I am starting Zope as the root user and running Zope (./start -u brad) as just a normal user. Any ideas why it might not be restarting automatically? Is there a log file I can go to to see what exceptions might have been raised?? Thanks in advance.

Separate folder with SQL Methods
by Arjan Huijzer 13 Jan '03

13 Jan '03

Hello, This is my first posting on this list, so I don't know whether this question has been posted before. I am trying to access SQL Methods from a folder that is not a parent, but a sibling: /mywebsite /sql_quesries query1 query2 /html index_html welcome.html Is it possible to use the "query1" and "query2" methods from the DTML methods located in the "html" folder? Thanks in advance! Arjan Huijzer __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com

Re: [Zope-dev] Rendering of objects in DTML

This question belongs to "zope(a)zope.org" (not zope-dev). I redirected the response. Bjorn Stabell wrote at 2003-1-13 17:29 +0800: > When a content is rendered by the Zpublisher, its index_html() is > called. DTML tags support two kinds of object parameters/attributes: * the name attribute and * the expr attribute You are using the first kind: it renders the named object (which means, it calls it when it is callable). The second kind gives you precise control: <dtml-if expr="content"> and <dtml-with expr="content"> is probably what you are looking for. Problems with anonymous access to MetaPublisher 1.2.8
by Elliot Clifton 13 Jan '03

13 Jan '03

Hi, I'm running Zope 2.5.1 on Linux, and I'm having trouble with the MetaPublisher 1.2.8 product. When I try to access meta publisher objects anonymously through the web, I get the following error message: Error Type: Unauthorised Error Value: You are not allowed to access entryIds in this context. I was following the product's tutorial when the error first occurred. What is the point in a publishing product that prevents the site visitors from seeing the published content? If this is a bug, then it's probably a fundamental flaw. So, what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance, Elliot

Script writing to session: bizarre result or just a mistake?
by Redding, Matthew 13 Jan '03

13 Jan '03

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could tell me why this python script (passed no parameters) creates session values for N_prod, N_shed, N_screen, N_pond, N_land, N_soil that are all the same (and TS_*, K_*, P_* values that are similarly the same within their set). What am I doing wrong? Is this a vaguery of the script system, and should I use an external method instead? #This function uses the session data, and a range of coded #values to determine the quantities of TS, N, P, and K #remaining at each step of the process up to land application. #On Entry: requires the Session data values gest, lact, suckers, #weaners, growers, finish, gilt, and boars. #On Exit: returns the modified session data, with additional values #representing the manure produced, Efluent exiting the shed, Effluent #after the screens (if there are any), pond sludge component, pond liquid, #quantities reaching the soil during irrigation, quantity remaining in the soil #following losses: each of these for each of TS, N, P, and K. import math session=context.REQUEST.SESSION #Define loss values: ts_shed=0; ts_screen=20 N_shed=10;N_screen=8;N_sludge=24;N_pond=40;N_irrigation=25;N_soil=25 P_shed=0;P_screen=11;P_sludge=90;P_pond=0;P_irrigation=0;P_soil=0 K_shed=0;K_screen=0;K_sludge=10;K_pond=0;K_irrigation=0;K_soil=0 #Calculate Components at each step, and assign to the session. #_Manure Production session['TS_prod']=session['num_spu']*109.95 #session['N_prod']=round(session['num_spu']*0.081814, 1) session['N_prod']=session['num_spu']*0.081814 #session['P_prod']=round(session['num_spu']*0.33338, 1) session['P_prod']=session['num_spu']*0.33338 #session['K_prod']=round(session['num_spu']*0.8335, 1) session['K_prod']=session['num_spu']*0.8335 #_exiting the shed session['TS_shed']=round(session['TS_prod']*(1-(ts_shed/100)),1) session['N_shed']=round(session['N_prod']*(1-(N_shed/100)),1) session['P_shed']=round(session['P_prod']*(1-(P_shed/100)), 1) session['K_shed']=round(session['K_prod']*(1-(K_shed/100)), 1) #_exiting the screens session['TS_screen']=round(session['TS_shed']*(1-(ts_screen/100)), 1) session['N_screen']=round(session['N_shed']*(1-(N_screen/100)), 1) session['P_screen']=round(session['P_shed']*(1-(P_screen/100)), 1) session['K_screen']=round(session['K_shed']*(1-(K_screen/100)), 1) #_retained in sludge session['N_sludge']=round(session['N_screen']*(N_sludge/100), 1) session['P_sludge']=round(session['P_screen']*(P_sludge/100), 1) session['K_sludge']=round(session['K_screen']*(K_sludge/100), 1) #_retained in the ponds session['N_pond']=round((session['N_screen']-session['N_sludge'])*(1-(N_ pond/ 100)), 1) session['P_pond']=round((session['N_screen']-session['N_sludge'])*(1-(P_ pond/ 100)), 1) session['K_pond']=round((session['N_screen']-session['N_sludge'])*(1-(K_ pond/ 100)), 1) #_reaching the soil session['N_lands']=round(session['N_pond']*(1-(N_irrigation/100)), 1) session['P_lands']=round(session['P_pond']*(1-(P_irrigation/100)), 1) session['K_lands']=round(session['K_pond']*(1-(K_irrigation/100)), 1) #_retained in the soil #session['N_soil']=round(session['N_lands']*(1-(N_soil/100)), 1) session['N_soil']=session['N_lands']*(1-(N_soil/100)) #session['P_soil']=round(session['P_lands']*(1-(P_soil/100)), 1) session['P_soil']=session['P_lands']*(1-(P_soil/100)) #session['K_soil']=round(session['K_lands']*(1-(K_soil/100)), 1) session['K_soil']=session['K_lands']*(1-(K_soil/100)) return ------------------------------------------------------- THanks, Matt Redding ********************************DISCLAIMER**************************** The information contained in the above e-mail message or messages (which includes any attachments) is confidential and may be legally privileged. function pre-declaration?
by philrobinson 13 Jan '03

13 Jan '03

Does python not have a way to predeclare functions, so I can keep 'main()' at the top and the utils at the bottom of a file? AFAIK, I have to go: ######################################## # Utility functions start here def util_func(): return 'a value' # Main starts here do_util() ######################################## but for readability I'd much rather go: ######################################## <some text to predeclare the function goes here> # Main starts here do_util() # Utility functions start here def util_func(): return 'a value' ######################################## Anyone know? I can live without it, but I like to have 'main' at the top so I can see what's supposed to be going on without scrolling to the bottom of a file first... a real "zope shell".
by Anthony Baxter 13 Jan '03

13 Jan '03

There's been various attempts at making "easy access to zope from a unix shell" over the years, here's another one. I recently noticed that zsh (www.zsh.org) a ksh/csh/bash replacement, has grown an inbuilt ftp client (yes, this is a bit nuts) - if you've got zsh installed, man zshzftpsys. As it is today, it doesn't support ftp servers on non-standard ports, but this was a 10-minute hack to add it in. File with History
by Rares Vernica 13 Jan '03

hi I'm trying to add 'History' for a File object. What i have done is this : class File(Persistent, Implicit, PropertyManager, RoleManager, Item_w__name__, Cacheable, History.Historical): ------------------------- !!!! for File class in Image.py from lib/python/OFS After restraing Zope, the History tab was present and working. Is there a way to do the same thing without modifying the Image.py file ?? Something like a 'HotFix' product ?? 10x rares
