Hi Guido and Jeremy, Thanks for meeting me this weekend - you guys were fantastic! There's only thing you do better than writing spam code, well you know what that is. :-) Can't wait to see you again, and don't worry - that happens to every guy once and a while. Better luck next time! Love, Lindsey. O=) xoxoxo

External Methods - Weirdness between two installations of Zope
by Edward Pollard 10 Jan '03

10 Jan '03

So we have a "test" and "production" installation of Zope 2.6. I'm experiencing some very interesting wierdness with external methods on the two systems. Now, I didn't play an integral role to the setup of these services, so the answer may be a simple configuration option I'm unawares of and my tech people are too ambivalent to care about Anyway, I've developed a small application on the test environment that has many external methods. I would often be editing the scripts in a telnet session and then reloading pages to see the new results. No problem. I copy over the product to the production environment - I exported over the zope objects and copied the .py file to the other Extensions folder - and there are a few small bugs to work out. But on THIS instance of zope, changes to the external method are not reflected unless I go into the method object in the ZMI and click "save changes". This stikes me as very unusual. Any advice? I have set up our Zope at https://register.funcom.com to email me whenever errors occur, and during the christmas holidays we got the following strange reports : The billing Zope at register.funcom.com reports an error The error is: KeyError : 1040726440 TRACEBACK: Traceback (innermost last): Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 252, in __call__ Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 283, in _bindAndExec Module Products.PythonScripts.PythonScript, line 315, in _exec Module Script (Python), line 4, in index_html <PythonScript at /newuser/index_html> Line 4 Module ZPublisher.HTTPRequest, line 1189, in __getattr__ Module ZPublisher.HTTPRequest, line 1149, in get Module Products.Sessions.SessionDataManager, line 93, in getSessionData Module Products.Sessions.SessionDataManager, line 180, in _getSessionDataObject Module Products.Transience.Transience, line 175, in new_or_existing Module Products.Transience.Transience, line 786, in get Module Products.Transience.Transience, line 599, in _getCurrentBucket Module Products.Transience.Transience, line 688, in _housekeep KeyError: 1040726440 i got a lot of these reports successively , all with the same key-error, until i restarted the server. It seems to have happened to a series of different users (different IPs , browsers, etc in the REQUESTS) The problem has not reappeared since the 24th of December, but i would really like to figure out what caused it.. Has anyone experienced anything like this? tales expressions issue
by David Bear 09 Jan '03

09 Jan '03

I have a formulator form with 12 form objects -- some text boxes, some check boxes, etc. There are 3 multicheckbox objects that want to populate with objects from a folder object. Ergo, I have a multicheckbox objects called department, population, and institution. I also have folder objects by the SAME name at the same level in the zope heirarchy as the formulator form. I have a python script called listTitles also. Now the strange thing happens when I use a python expression in to populate each of the above mention checkbox fields. I use "python:form.department.listTitles()" to populatre the department formulator object. It works. I use "python:form.population()" to populate the populatio formulator object -- it does NOT work. Same thing for institution. I'm begining to wonder if I can only have one expression on a formulator form. Any idea's what might be happening? I can put in the url "http://server/test/department/listTitles" and I get back a python list of objects in the department folder. Which is what I expect. (so I know acquisition is working as I think it should) -- David Bear College of Public Programs/ASU Mail Code 0803

PAL versus DTML
by Raphael Arlitt 09 Jan '03

09 Jan '03

As a newbie I am kind of confused by different techniques in zope. DTML I understand as a help to modularize websites by limiting a DTML method/document to a certain task. But this generated code is not usuable and workable with WYSIWYG tools and hence PAL is the method of choice since all these XML namespaces hide the stuff to the designers with their dreamweaver. But how do I now modularize my site with PAL in the DTML way? From the handbook I figured that DTML does not seem to be the method of choice since it is not usuable by the designer folks with their tools. So how to accomplish modularisation with PAL and how to transfer/use my old standard_html_header/footer? (I posted a similar inquiry yesterday, but due to high traffic I may and my newbie existense I kind of did not get any answer replying to that specific quest :-) Raphael

How to render tales in strings in a script
by Elena Schulz 09 Jan '03

09 Jan '03

Hi, I need to render a string (not a zpt-object) with tales like <img tal:attributes="src here/images/spacer.gif/absolute_url" src="spacer.gif" alt="" title="" border="0" width="1" height="15" />. Does anybody know how to do this in a script? I already know how to import PageTemplate.py and it should work with read() or pt_render() or document_src() but it does'nt. :( I get unauthorized errors. -- many thanks for your replies, Elena

Hi, hello, this is my first post this list. Im am using: (Zope 2.5.0 (source release, python 2.1, linux2) [SuSE Linux], python 2.2.0, linux2) and have the following question: Given that folder hierarchy: root +my_domain +scripts +generate_link (Python script) +projects +fooproject +index_html (DTML document) where everything but my_domain/p rojects/fooproject/index_html is owned by admin, only my_domain/projects/fooproject/index_html is owned by some standard user (Authenticated role). in index_html I want to call the script generate_link like that: <dtml-var expr="scripts.generate_link('bla.pdf')">The bla document.</a> I'm not using any proxy roles, and get the following traceback: Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Zserver starting error
by F. Troester 09 Jan '03

09 Jan '03

Hello, as a beginner of Zope I have a start problem of the Zserver. I created a Zclass in the Product Folder. It worked very well. Now I get the following error, when I start the ZServer: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------ 2003-01-07T20:36:32 ERROR(200) ZODB Couldn't load state for '\x00\x00\x00\x00\x0 0\x00J\xda' Traceback (innermost last): Module ZODB.Connection, line 533, in setstate ImportError: No module named *2Uv8GXJCU4rgyrZw1NhebQ== ------ 2003-01-07T20:36:32 ERROR(200) Zope A problem was found when checking the global product registry. This is probably due to a Product being uninstalled or renam ed. The traceback follows. Traceback (innermost last): Module OFS.Application, line 218, in checkGlobalRegistry Module ZODB.Connection, line 533, in setstate ImportError: No module named *2Uv8GXJCU4rgyrZw1NhebQ== ------ 2003-01-07T20:36:32 INFO(0) Zope Beginning attempt to rebuild the global ZClass registry. ------ 2003-01-07T20:36:33 INFO(0) Zope The global ZClass registry has successfully bee n rebuilt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------- The code *2Uv8GXJCU4rgyrZw1NhebQ== belongs to my ZClass. When I call an object of this ZClass in any DTML-method, I get an error "Product is broken". I don't know the reason of this error. Can anybody tell me, how to fix this error? Thank you very much Fritz

Mixing authentication techniques at the same site with exUserFolder
by Emmanuel Viennet 09 Jan '03

09 Jan '03

Hi, I'm using Zope product exUserFolder (v 0-10-9) under Zope 2.5.1 Our site has sections using Zope, and other sections using Apache (to use CGI software not under Zope, like for instance mailman or IMP Horde). The Zope sections authenticate users via exUserFolder, OK. The Apache sections use http basic auth, OK. The problem is that when a user navigates (in the same browser session) from one part to another. When entering Zope after authenticating on the other side, we get an error: Traceback (innermost last): File .../lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File .../lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 114, in publish File .../lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: XXXXXXX) File .../lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 89, in publish File .../lib/python/ZPublisher/BaseRequest.py, line 388, in traverse File .../lib/python/Products/exUserFolder/exUserFolder.py, line 1024, in validate (Object: acl_users) File .../lib/python/Products/exUserFolder/exUserFolder.py, line 723, in std_validate (Object: acl_users) ValueError: unpack tuple of wrong size I understand that the auth. cookie has not the form expected by Zope... I tried unsuccessfully to fixe the python code. Do you have any suggestion ? Thank you, Emmanuel -- Emmanuel Viennet LIPN - Institut Galilee - Universite Paris-Nord

DTML Newbie: Using variable as an object in path?
by Patrick Price 09 Jan '03

09 Jan '03

I'd like to set a variable in a DTML document, then call another DTML doc and use that variable as part of an object path:, eg: <dtml-with a_folder_name.the_variable_value> so I can use different objects (files) by passing the filename in the variable. How can I do this? Also, is the correct way to set a DTML variable to use dtml-call REQUEST.set or is there another way? Thanks in advance, Patrick Price
