installation of products with win 95
by Martin Hartmann 21 Nov '02

21 Nov '02

Hello, I tried to intall some products in zope (2.5.1) by copying the product folders to lib/python/Products: AbracadrabaObject, PropertyObject, PropertyFolder. Zope runs under win95. If I start Zope, then there is an error message: "... Error Zope couldn't install PropertyObject File c:\Programme\WebSite\lib\python\OFS\Application.py Line 609, in install_product Import Error: No module named Property Object ..." After that it is possible to work with zope unter win95, but without these products. With Win2000 there is no problem to install these products. Where is the mistake ? Thank you, Martin Hartmann

Zsyncer to Zuploader
by Elena Schulz 21 Nov '02

21 Nov '02

Hi, does anybody know what needs to be done to change the Zsyncer-Product so that it just serves as an uploader without needing to be installed on the client-side (if possible). Or is there an other solution to upload Zope-Objects with properties (without zexp-import) -- many thanks for relpies, Elena

[ANN] AbracadabraObject 1.5, PropertyObject & -folder 1.2 released
by Maik Jablonski 21 Nov '02

21 Nov '02

Hi, today I've released a new bundle of my "Rapid-Database-Application-with-the-ZMI"-package... If you use the ZMI as a "Content-Management-System" [as I do], you will love these tools... AbracadabraObject 1.5 This is a kind of "virtual" object. It allows you to clone pre-configured objects with only one click. For example: You can set up a FAQ-Object for your site [DTMLDocument with some additional properties] and clone it to your current workfolder with one click. Additional features: auto-id-generation, scripting-features, configurable AbracadabraObject-list. http://www.zope.org/Members/mjablonski/AbracadabraObject PropertyObject 1.2 PropertyObject is simply a "lock"- and sortable propertysheet-object, which can be synchronized with all PropertyObjects of the same object-type. You can specify a method for rendering all PropertyObjects of the same object_type. It's the perfect counterpart for AbracadabraObject!!! http://www.zope.org/Members/mjablonski/PropertyObject PropertyFolder 1.2 PropertyFolder is the folderish friend of PropertyObject. Same features as PropertyObject. Additionally you can specify a "default"-view for a PropertyFolder. So you don't have to place different "index_html"'s among your content anymore... http://www.zope.org/Members/mjablonski/PropertyFolder Be zoped, maik jablonski -- German Zope User Group http://www.dzug.org/

How do I get remote http error code?
by Duane Raymond 21 Nov '02

21 Nov '02

Hi, I'm struggling to find a way to return the http error code (i.e. 404, 401, 301, 201) using an External Script and urllib. I can read the file using urllib.urlopen(url).read() and can get general info using urllib.urlopen(url).info() - however I can't find how to return the error code (i.e if the remote page doesn't exist). Anyone know how to resolve this? Cheers, Duane

Re: [Zope] Bug in FileDirectoryView with INSTANCE_HOME on win?
by GIMSPOP 21 Nov '02

Roger, I had a similar problem to yours, and could solve it by going ot root->portal_skins and for each directory view, clicking on the broken directory view (probably all of them), going to the Properties tab and removing the lib\python part in the FileSystem path box. eg. /root/portal_skins/Images' Filesystem path now reads Products\CMFDefault\skins\Images instead of lib\python\Products\CMFDefault\skins\Images. I hope this helps - you can see the thread "ZEXP woes with INSTANCE_HOME'd sites" where Dieter Maurer and Paul Winkler helped me to solve my problem. Regards Etienne Labuschagne Hello Has anybody a solution for to install a FileDirectoryView from CMF on win zope 2.6 with INSTANCE_HOME ? I think there is a bug. The FDV doesn't read the given INSTANCE_HOME path.
