RE: [Zope] ZEXP woes with INSTANCE_HOME'd sites
by Etienne Labuschagne 20 Nov '02

Thanks for the response Dieter, I do not have any Directory View folders, its just a plain CMF site, containing some structured text docs and Folders (CMF Portal Folders). The Folders' icons are broken, even though you can still get into them. When trying to view the portal, I get the error (see the traceback that I posted on p.t.'s request). I can even replicate this consitently with two brand new installations AND brand new CMF sites on any machine. Create a new CMF site, add a Portal Folder, export the site, import it in the other site. The only difference with a new CMF site is that I don't get the error when viewing the imported folder, I only get the standard Zope intro screen instead of the portal rendering. The only difference between the two sites is that one is a instance home'd site and the other is not. I'm quite sure that anyone else should be able to replicate this (on Win32 at least). I don't know if I must rather put this issue in the collector (I need to be sure I'm not doing anything stupid first!) I am not sure, but: CMF DirectoryView saves the path to the folder in a compact way, i.e. if possible not as absolute file path but relative with respect to either "SOFTWARE_HOME" or "INSTANCE_HOME". This, usually is a good thing, as it allows your to move the complete Zope hierarchy without rendering your DirectoryViews disfunctional. But, when you have exported a portal with INSTANCE_HOME relative paths and import in one without an INSTANCE_HOME, then the affected DirectoryViews may no longer work. In this case, the affected DirectoryViews would appear as empty. You need to fix their path to make them working again. Dieter

XUF and destination
by Schmidt, Allen J. 20 Nov '02

20 Nov '02

Having some trouble. I created the sample files for Loginform, etc. in the folder just above the acl_users. When I get my Loginform the destination shows under the box. however, it shows a relative address...all of which is correct for the FULL URL except the http:// part. I have tried variations in the base url field in Membership Sources tab. All to no avail. Suggestions?? Thanks --Allen

How to rotate the detailed log
by Ryan Watts 20 Nov '02

20 Nov '02

I have read Tim's tip on log rotation (http://www.zope.org/Members/tim/logmanagement) and many treads on NIP about how to rotate the standard Z2.log file, but I have not found an easy way to rotate the detailed log file. I have found when I use third part log rotation tools, Zope stops logging as soon as the files rotates. I am running 2.5.1 on Linux. Is there a way to edit Z2.py or would I have to write something custom? I would appreciate any thoughts, - Ryan Watts

including (mysql)-auth-scheme into SimpleUserFolders
by andy toenz 20 Nov '02

20 Nov '02

Hello, SUF works fine for me, using unencrypted passwords from a mysql-database. The problem is: my passwords _are_ encrypted using the sql-method 'Password'. I've found a Zope mysql-scheme patch (http://collector.zope.org/Zope/435/) that provides what i need... But I've no idea how I have to modify SimpleUserFolders to accept the mysql-scheme-patch :/ I've a user.py in SUF thats ihnerited from BasicUser... In BasicUser, there's a authenticate-method. .def authenticate(self, password, request): . passwrd=self._getPassword() . result = AuthEncoding.pw_validate(passwrd, password) . domains=self.getDomains() . if domains: . return result and domainSpecMatch(domains, request) . return result So SUF uses AuthEncoding.pw_validate(passwrd, password) to check my pass, right ? .def pw_validate(reference, attempt): . """Validate the provided password string, which uses LDAP-style encoding . notation. Reference is the correct password, attempt is clear text . password attempt.""" . for id, prefix, scheme in _schemes: . lp = len(prefix) . if reference[:lp] == prefix: . return scheme.validate(reference[lp:], attempt) . # Assume cleartext. . return (reference == attempt) But this looks like LDAP-Style Encoding and not the MySQL-Scheme way. So where do I have to change the code ? Do I have to write a authenticate method in SUF's user.py ? If so: How do I have to do this ?? thanks in advice ! Andy PS: I'm newbie... don't have any python knowledges... ______________________________________________________________________________ Erster Klick - SMS versenden, zweiter Klick - die Telefonnummer im Adressbuch speichern bei: http://freemail.web.de/features/?mc=021151

Re: [Zope] PIL, ImageTag, compression, antialias and mode
by Ausum Studio 20 Nov '02

For PIL specific questions you may want to search the Image-SIG list, searchable through ActiveState's ASPN: http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Archives/image-sig/ Information and suscription: http://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/image-sig As it was treated here before, it is known that current PIL's antialiasing is not as good as ImageMagick's, when compared one to one. For smoother results and better overall image quality, try IM instead.
