Bug in FileDirectoryView with INSTANCE_HOME on win?
by Projekt01, Roger Ineichen 22 Nov '02

22 Nov '02

Hello Has anybody a solution for to install a FileDirectoryView from CMF on win zope 2.6 with INSTANCE_HOME ? I think there is a bug. The FDV doesn't read the given INSTANCE_HOME path. ZCatalog Field indexes
by Tim McLaughlin 22 Nov '02

22 Nov '02

I swear that this used to work, but I think maybe it has changed accidentally somewhere in 2.4+. Catalog(field1='') (where field1 is a 'Field' type index) should return all catalogged objects which have an empty string for that attribute, and it used to (I think). In current versions, ZCatalog just seems to ignore the parameter altogether and return all catalogged objects. This current implementation doesn't make sense to me... dtml-try... again?
by Ken 22 Nov '02

22 Nov '02

I have pages using the dynamic kebas_data technique described in the howto accompanying this very cool product. Occasionally (maybe 2%) I am getting Key Errors for reasons I am trying to figure out. I think the error is due to the dynamic thingy being not too robust when many requests hit simultaneously. There may even be no solution. The good news is that requesting the page a second time always works. The site is in production, so until I figure out how to fix the errors I thought of using something like this: <dtml-try> <dtml-var "mykebas.view()"> <dtml-except KeyError> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect(URL)"> </dtml-try> Something tells me this is asking for trouble even if the error never repeats itself. Apart from rooting out the error, what would be the correct way to handle this? Thanks!

Re: [Zope] ZEXP woes with INSTANCE_HOME'd sites

Thanks Dieter, Paul and P.T, Although Dieter did give me the correct explanation a few mails ago, I did not realise at that time that the Directory View folders in the portal_skins are called just that (I confused it with LocalFS folders) - thanks Paul for pointing that out and telling me exactly where to look - I'm probably at the point where I know just about enough of CMF to be dangerous! Dieter (and Chris!), once again, sorry for the HTML spew, M$ Outlook has a mind of it's own, and will either send HTML or two messages, one HTML and one Text, I am now using Outlook Express to write mails to news groups (I can't uninstall Outlook - company policy) and hope it is better behaved. Anyway, my problem is solved, so now I can go and be the hero on the "Bug in FileDirectoryView with INSTANCE_HOME on win?" thread I have just noticed ;) Thanks again Etienne

Returning a pil generated image from a python product
by Sean K 22 Nov '02

22 Nov '02

I am writing a product that returns an image generated by pil (unfortunately it doesn't): Create image- im = PIL.Image.new('RGB',(width,height)) it is then drawn- draw = ImageDraw.Draw(im) draw.rectangle([0,0,width,height], fill=(250,250,250)) etc etc etc after it is ready to be sent out I "save" it - pic = cStringIO.StringIO() im.save(pic, 'GIF') and send it pic.seek(0) RESPONSE.setHeader("Content-type", "image/gif") RESPONSE.write(pic.read()) my index_html <dtml-var standard_html_header> <IMG src="./dynamicImage?RESPONSE=RESPONSE"> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> the product class inherits Item, Persistent and Implicit the dynamicImage method has an argument RESPONSE When I click on view all I get is an image placeholder box (true as well when using the same image tag in a dtml method in the root folder), however from a dtml method in the root folder <dtml-var expr="TestObject.dynamicImage(RESPONSE)"> will render an image as the only content. any other content in the method is ignored. This is my first attempt at a product, so after much hair pulling I must get it to work. Thank you in advance for any help Sean K --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! In the meantime, Squishdot.org is available from: http://swishdot.personalzope.nipltd.net/squishdot_org I don't know if any of the email addresses @squishdot.org are currently working, if someone could send me some test mail, I'd appreciate it. *sigh* Chris
