Preventing people from joining a CMF site?
by Hamish Lawson 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

I've been playing with the CMF, but I haven't so far found a way to prevent people from joining themselves as members of a CMF site. I want to let either a reviewer or manager decide who can be members. Hamish Lawson

Restricting viewing of documents to members in CMF?
by Hamish Lawson 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

I'm trying to understand how permissions work for CMF. I want to let only members (or reviewers or maangers) view documents. Restricting the 'View' permission to just members (etc.) seems to prevent the login page from being accessed. Which permission is the one that I should use for restricting viewing of documents? Thanks, Hamish Lawson

nfgnav?
by Einar Næss Jensen 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

I have aded an nfgnav-instance in a zclass so that all my objects of that zclass have a similar sitemap. Only problem is: it never shows up for the regular website-user, only for me who have access to the management screens. How do I solve this? My guess is that it has to do with the permissions set for nfgnav, but I cannot figure it out. A helping pinpointer in any direction would be of great help! Automating zexp installation
by Paul 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

My apologies if this is a FAQ, but is there an easy way to automate the installation of the zexp files? Every time we rev our in-house zope modules, we have to do the following: o import the zexp files o install/reload the external methods for each module o install a SiteRoot for each module (because we are using an apache proxy) That's a lot of mouse clicks, and prone to human error. How can I automate the above operations via a shell/python script? Many thanks in advance for any pointers. -- Paul

standard_error_message wired variable expansion
by Ulrich Wisser 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

Hello, i installed my own standard_error_message and it works fine so far. I found that in case of a "NotFound" error the AUTHENTICATED_USER is lost. But what is worse is, that I can not display error_value. error_type is 'NotFound' and I can display it, but if display error_value the Zope default error message (<table ...) is shown. Please find an example output below, here is the code <dtml-var error_type> <dtml-var error_value> Any ideas how to display a correct error message? Even when I display error_tb some variable will expand to this ridiculous html table. Thanks Ulrich NotFound <TABLE BORDER="0" WIDTH="100%"> <TR VALIGN="TOP"> <TD WIDTH="10%" ALIGN="CENTER">   </TD> <TD WIDTH="90%"> <H2>Site Error</H2> <P>An error was encountered while publishing this resource. </P> <P><STRONG>Resource not found</STRONG></P> Sorry, the requested resource does not exist.<p>Check the URL and try again.</p><p><b>Resource:</b> z GET</p> <HR NOSHADE> <P>Troubleshooting Suggestions</P> <UL> <LI>The URL may be incorrect.</LI> <LI>The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect.</LI> <LI>A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error.</LI> </UL> <P>For more detailed information about the error, please refer to the HTML source for this page. </P> <P>If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. RE: [Zope] Maintain Input Variables around forms
by McDonnell, Larry 12 Nov '02

Hi, It does contain nc_report_no from the first form that prompts for this information. I do not have nc_report_no set global. I have the ZSQL query looking for the input without the ':string="%"'. The user will add their info to the next form and I write the record. Most times they will have several of these records. I provide a link to back to the previous form. But if I go back, the <dtml-in> call needs the value of nc_report_no. If I add the global syntax in than the user the first time through will error. The error message would be that the variable was not globally assign yet. If I have the form setup this way: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('nc_report_no', REQUEST.SESSION['nc_report_no'])"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.SESSION.set('nc_report_no', nc_report_no)"> <dtml-in lookup_nc_report_no_query> I get this traceback Traceback (innermost last): File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 114, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 158, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: backup_partb) File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\OFS\DTMLDocument.py, line 127, in __call__ (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_Util.py, line 159, in eval (Object: REQUEST.set('nc_report_no', REQUEST.SESSION['nc_report_no'])) (Info: REQUEST) File <string>, line 2, in f File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\AccessControl\DTML.py, line 32, in guarded_getitem (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\AccessControl\ZopeGuards.py, line 90, in guarded_getitem File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\Products\Transience\TransientObject.py, line 135, in __getitem__ KeyError: (see above) If I remove the lines before the <dtml-in> I will get this traceback the second time through - Missing input variable, nc_report_no Traceback (innermost last): File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 114, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 158, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: backup_partb) File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\Program Files\proton\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\OFS\DTMLDocument.py, line 127, in __call__ (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: update_nonc_partb) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_In.py, line 617, in renderwob (Object: lookup_nc_report_no_query) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\DA.py, line 414, in __call__ (Object: lookup_nc_report_no_query) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_String.py, line 473, in __call__ (Object: <string>) File C:\PROGRA~1\proton\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\sqlvar.py, line 99, in render (Object: nc_report_no) Missing Input: (see above) -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Maurer [mailto:dieter@handshake.de] Sent: Monday, November 11, 2002 2:01 PM To: McDonnell, Larry Cc: 'Zope@Zope. I cannot tell you why. Look at the traceback. It should tell you where exceptions are raised. Dieter

"Dynamic" dtml-with
by Roger Fisher 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

Is there a syntax I can use to include another folder in my namespace, when I wont know which folder until runtime? For example, if I have similarly-named preferences for different customers in folders CUST1 and CUST2, I would like to at run-time be able to do something similar to: <dtml-with "CurrentCustomerString"> to get the correct customer folder in my namespace. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

hide nested classes in a python products -- how?
by Tobias Herp 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

Hi, I'm re-implementing my nested ZClass product as a python product. The ZClass product contains a class 'portal' which is the only one which should be add-able to any ordinary folder, and a cascade of further classes which can be added inside the portal. In my classes I'm able to restrict the list of contained classes via _allowed_meta_types. But in an ordinary Folder, any object can be added. Is it possible to prevent the further classes to show up in the normal list, so that only 'portal's can be added to a normal Folder object? Or is the only solution to throw an exception? tia, Tobias -- (sorry for any unfriendly footer added automatically against my wishes... please ignore it!) Add icons for msword or pdf documents in dtml-tree?
by Greg 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

I did some searching and found some info on Zproducts and Zclasses. Is that what it takes to add an icon to a specific content-type? I found a How-To a few months back about adding icons in your tree tag, but I can find it anywhere now. (I should have printed it when I saw it!) When I add documents to a folder, they are added as meta-type: file. Is there an easy way to associate the icon to the content-type? Or, is it easier to just add the dtml-if statements for each image source I have? This is what I have now: <dtml-tree Public branches="objectValues" sort="title"> <dtml-if "meta_type=='Folder'"> <IMG SRC="<dtml-var icon>" BORDER=0> <b><font style="font-size:10pt;"><dtml-var title></font> </b> <dtml-else> <dtml-if "title == 'Index' or title == 'User Folder'"> <dtml-else> <A HREF="<dtml-var tree-item-url>" target="_new"> <IMG SRC="<dtml-var icon>" BORDER=0> <dtml-var title></A> - I am a <dtml-var content_type> document. </dtml-if> </dtml-if> </dtml-tree> I would like this, <IMG SRC="<dtml-var icon>" BORDER=0> , to show the icon of MSWord, or an Acrobat Icon for PDF. I could do it like this: <IMG SRC="<dtml-if "content-type == 'application/msword"><dtml-var msword.gif><dtml-else><dtml-var icon></dtml-if>" BORDER=0> That just seams like a lot of work if you have several content-types. If you can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. (or, just say I am screwed, just type out the code!) Thanks a bunch! Greg

How to cat strings together that may be NULL?
by Greg 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

I am trying to cat several fields together into one string from a mysql table. I keep getting an error about "Cannot add type "None" to string". I am guessing that some of my feilds are NULL. My goal is to copy the columns from one table and dump them into one column of another. I have this: <dtml-in sqlGetTableColumns> <dtml-call "REQEST.set('tbldata', Field1, Field2, Field3, Field4)"> <dtml-call "sqlInsertDump(DumpCol=tbldata,User=AUTHENTICATED_USER)"> </dtml-in> Field3 and Field4 are usually NULL, but not always, so I want to capture them as well. Any suggestions? Thanks! Greg
