Managing local roles with a script
by Etienne Labuschagne 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

I have a CMF site. In the site there are three folders, A, B and C which I call products. To view a product you need the "Broker" role. I want to be able to "accredit" a user for any combination of product A, B and C. Thus I wrote a script, assigning the local Role "Broker" to a user for the folder A, B or C (according to his accreditation). This works fine. I also want to be able to remove the accreditation. So I wrote a script that removes the local roles for those accreditations that were removed. My problem is with the removing. The script has proxy role Manager, Broker (and just about anything else by now!) but I cannot get it to remove the roles. In the script I have tried: productFolder.manage_delLocalRoles([userId]) AND context.portal_membership.deleteLocalRoles(productFolder, [userId]) Out of the source I understand why the latter doesn't work - it ignores proxy roles and uses manage_delLocalRoles anyway. Why doesn't the first one also not work? Does it also ignore proxy roles? The script works if I am logged in as "Manager", but I want a "BrokerManager" user to also be able to use this script without giving him full "Manager" rights. B.t.w. the above fails silently, no exception, the role removal just doesn't happen. Thanks Etienne

Newbie-Zope/Python: Enclosing Object ID?
by Ted Pollari 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

So here's a question... How, in a zope python-script object, do I determine the enclosing/parent folderish-item of any given object-item without making reference to something like request.PARENTS[0] or something like that? I know it has to be something simple but I'm just not seeing it. Thanks -Ted

ftp connection to remote Zope-Server
by Elena Schulz 12 Nov '02

Hi, I want to connect my local Zope (win98, Zope 2.5.1) to a remote Zope-Server only by ftp-access. The following external method from zopelabs seems to connect somehow but doesn work (no files are sent): 1. How can I log the info from the remote Server to see where the problem is? 2. Is "_ftp.set_pasv(1)" ok to enable passive mode for operating from behind a firewall? Has anybody positive experience with this or other methods of ftp-connection between 2 Zope-server? Thanks for any help and replies, Elena The external-script: """ sendfiles from ZOPE to another machine ftp by runyaga @ zopelabs """ import ftplib from string import split, lower from StringIO import StringIO host='localhost' login='runyaga' password='^%$^@5@#$S' port=21 def ftp(obj, host=host, login=login, password=password, port=port): _ftp = ftplib.FTP() _ftp.set_pasv(1) #for firewall < ######## 2 ############ #_ftp.connect(host, port) _ftp.connect(host) # with default port _ftp.login(login, password) if lower(obj.meta_type)=='file': binary=1 if obj.content_type[:4]=='text': binary=0 ftp_file(_ftp, obj, binary) if lower(obj.meta_type)=='image': ftp_file(_ftp, obj, 1) _ftp.quit() def ftp_file(ftpCon, fileObj, binary): if binary: ftpCon.storbinary("STOR " + fileObj.getId(), StringIO(fileObj.data), 1024) else: f = StringIO() f.readlines(split(fileObj.data, '\n')) f.seek(0) ftpCon.storlines("STOR " + fileObj.getId(), f)

RE: [Zope] joining zcatalog search results
by Meilicke, Scott 12 Nov '02

Could you then stuff your results into a dictionary, using as the key something unique, perhaps path or absolute url? As the dictionary is stuffed with duplicates, they will just get over written. I want to search a zcatalog of dtml pages based on their text content and title. At the moment, I'm doing two separate searches and concatenating the results using a script, much the same as the example in the zope book. When the two results are concatenated duplicates may occur, so I'm looking for a way to join the two correctly. This must be a fairly common requirement, but I can't find any similar examples. Re: [Zope] External Editor problem
by Marie Robichon 12 Nov '02

Hi, Sorry to be so long in replying - had to go on to other projects and leave this one! We are running Easy Publisher 1.7 on top of Zope 2.5.1 on Apache (sun0s5). The browsers that cause the problems are IE 6 (SP1). I thought this problem could be solved with External Editor 0.6 but this does not seem solve the problem. Using Netscape Navigator works fine (however we need IE6 in order to use the wysiwyg editor in Easy Publisher). I can get it to work on my box (Windows98), but attempts on Windows 2000 Professional or NT fail. I think maybe the change I spoke about below came from the upgrade from IE5 to IE6, but since we at that time were also patching Easy Publisher it is difficult to say exactly what had changed. Thanks in advance for your help Marie Robichon At 09:30 27/09/02 -0400, you wrote: >Does it work in another browser? Did anything change on the system from the >time it stopped working until now? IOError while refreshing product
by Thierry Florac 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

Hi, I currently use Zope-2.6.0 on a Debian GNU/Linux system (kernel 2.4.18) with Python-2.1.3 ; it's a "fresh" install of Zope made from sources. I'm writing Zope products and when I try to refresh them, I sometimes get an error message : Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. IOError Sorry, a site error occurred. Traceback (innermost last): * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 150, in publish_module * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 114, in publish * Module Zope, line 171, in zpublisher_exception_hook * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish * Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply * Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object * Module App.Product, line 381, in manage_performRefresh * Module App.RefreshFuncs, line 192, in performFullRefresh * Module App.RefreshFuncs, line 185, in performSafeRefresh * Module App.RefreshFuncs, line 139, in logBadRefresh * Module zLOG, line 130, in LOG * Module ZLogger.ZLogger, line 16, in log_write * Module ZLogger.stupidFileLogger, line 27, in __call__ * Module ZLogger.stupidFileLogger, line 90, in stupid_log_write IOError: [Errno 5] Input/output error (Also, an error occurred while attempting to render the standard error message.) If I try to restart Zope from the ZMI, I receive the same error message. If I restart Zope from start/stop script, everything is OK and I can refresh my products again for some time (until the next error message). Other operations (modification of existing Zope objects, browsing,...) always work correctly. Does anybody encountered such a problem or have any idea ?? Thanks, Thierry Florac P.S. : does refreshable products need special methods or properties to make this function work correctly ??? -- Linux every day, keeps Dr Watson away... http://gpc.sourceforge.net -- http://www.ulthar.net

PCGI Timeout
by Miles Waller 12 Nov '02

12 Nov '02

Hi, Does anyone have any idea how to stop the pcgi wrapper timing out when zope is trundling through a long operation? I don't have access to a windows C compiler either, so I hope I'm not down on my luck here... I've been forced to use IIS on windows 2000, although this is actually working fine other than this timeout thing. If anyone else is trying to use IIS, there's a rewrite tool from qwerksoft <www.qwerksoft.com> which can be used with pcgi to do all the usual rewriting. You have to pay for it (I'm not on commission) but I've found it to be good. Thanks for any help on this timeout issue at all. Miles
