Do not give permission to view management screen and manage users to acl_users folder to specified group of users in his security tab. Do not forget to remove "acquire permission setting" and put these rights to manager and groups what you need to view acl. Regards JL.

database in zope

location of tmp-file while uploading a file

hi, while uploading a file through the ZMI, i'd tried to locate this file on the filesystem on my linux box. with 'df' i saw that the space on /var was used. i've tried to locate the file, but i've had no success. then i used a simple "du -sb /var > out1 && sleep 10 && du -sb /var > out2 && diff -a out1 out2" to find the file. but there was no diff!! but meanwhile /var used about 10MB more space. any help? markus

I took a cue from NuxUserGroups and added a module to my product that overrides the BasicUser.getRolesInContext and BasicUser.allowed methods to also add the result of __ac_local_roles_for_user__(self) to the local roles. I'd rather not be modifying standard Zope objects, but I don't see another way to give a user roles depending on a relationship between its other roles and the folder's name; __ac_local_roles__ when called doesn't get passed the user.

Q: Interested in a Zope/Plone CD at next week's OSCOM?

Howdy all. As a way to promote the Zope/Plone presence at next week's OSCOM Berkeley conference (Jim, Alan, and I are on the program, info below), I was thinking about putting together a little CD to hand out. Basically I'll burn Andy McKay's installer package with perhaps some last-minute surprises. I'm only planning to do this, though, for people that attend the conference. For a more substantial effort, I'll pitch in with others that are working on the same thing. Thus I'm trying to gauge demand: who is planning on going to the conference and is interested in such a beastie? Please email me directly for responses. Diacriticals in ZMI

My problem is the ZMI doesn't seem to be setting an encoding. Mozilla 1.1 notices this and displays all 8 bit characters as '?'. So 'Re'sume`' now shows up as 'R?sum?'. So my questions are: 1) How do I set the ZMI codepage or encoding so the browser knows what's going on? 2) Is there a way to enter é et al. into ZMI Title boxes and have them work rather than entering 8 bit characters? I've tried setting the locale via -L but that isn't helping me any. It seems to refuse to accept most of the locales listed by 'locale -a' and those that Zope accepts seem to result in a non-responsive ZMI.

Handling of objects returned from external methods within zope?

Hi, I'm using Zope 2.5.0 on Linux. I have created an external method in Zope which catalogs and external function. This function just creates on object of a class defined in the external file and returns this. The class looks like this: class x: def y (s): return 1 Within Zope I now try to call the method y() of the object that is returned by the external function. This does not work - zope want's me to (re)login immediately. I guess I'm just not allowed to use classes defined outside of zope within zope. Is there some way to register a class so that it's objects can be used inside of Zope? If so, how can I achieve this? Thanks, Stephan

Debug security settings

I've created a user with the role "Administrator" and allowed many things to this user in a subfolder like Access contents information, View management screens and some other ones for a ZClass I have. The user still can't get into the /manage in this subfolder. The frames come up and the tree menu on the left hand site looks alright, but for the main window it just resides to the index_html method (ie. outside the ZMI) How do I debug to what permission this user fails to aquire? The list of permissions is very long and I can't find the one. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com) Version: 6.0.381 / Virus Database: 214 - Release Date: 2002-08-02
