string to list
by Bryan C. Andregg 18 Sep '02

I have a list that is stored in a database. When I retrieve the list it's returned as a string. I.E., ['a', 'b'] is not iterable. Does anyone have a conventient way to turn the string back into a list or should I just do the store differently? Cheers, -- Bryan C. Parameters for external methods and page templates
by Andreas Tille 18 Sep '02

18 Sep '02

Hello, I'm quiet happy with the example of using External Methods with PIL which can be found at http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1010702887 I can perfectly call this method using <img src="tumb?width=42&height=42"> and get an thumbnail in the size I want it to be. Remark: I had to use a default image name (see below) because I did not found out the correct syntax for specifying an image name. On the other hand I would like to use this external method with pages templates and I failed while having no clue to specify the parameters.s The problem is the first parameter def MakeThumbHi2(self, image="bland.gif", width, height): ^^^^ self. I really have no idea how to put this into the correct syntax from page templates. When reading the Zope Book I noticed that the examples are exclusively realized using Python Scripts and these are glued in a DTML document. Is this the only way to go here to avoid the problem of specifying the "self" argument and arguments of type string? Kind regards Andreas.

RE: [Zope] Zope couldn't be seen from outside!
by sean.upton＠uniontrib.com 18 Sep '02

It could also be noted that there are a myriad of possibilities if this doesn't work. It would be that all incoming ports are blocked by a firewall to your IP, including port 80. It might even be worse, and be NAT'd (network address translation, private IP addr on your box with on-the fly packet proxying, essentially rendering you invisible to the outside world). You best bet is to really, really know your network, or know someone that does. Folderish Product Problems
by Chris A. Bruce 17 Sep '02

17 Sep '02

I am trying to create a Folderish Product that can be accessed via ftp/webdav. I have tried subclassing both (one at a time) ObjectManager and Collection, but when I open the folder in ZMI or ftp, it appears again, nested within itself-it will nest forever. Not sure why? Can someone please offer any advice on why it is doing that? I assume that I am missing a method that needs to be implemented? Thanks, Chris

RE: [Zope] I can't seem to get site-packages to work under Win32
by Friedlander Paul 17 Sep '02

You are right, the debug screen show "sys.path". However, I have tried several times putting the packages into the directory "C:\PROGRA~1\WebSite\bin\lib\site-packages". They all have "__init__.py" and they still can't be found. The only thing that worked was putting them in "C:\PROGRA~1\WebSite\bin\lib". I agree that this shouldn't be. Every other Python installation I have dealt with used the site-packages directory. What I don't know is why or how to change the behavior. And I still can't get the system to find the _image.pyd file. -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Maurer [mailto:dieter@handshake.de] Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 2:43 PM To: Friedlander Paul Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: RE: [Zope] I can't seem to get site-packages to work under Win32 Friedlander Paul writes: > The debug screen shows "C:\PROGRA~1\WebSite\bin\lib\site-packages" under > syspath and Look's like you have been a bit careless: If "syspath" is "sys.path", then if you put the packages you want to have in "site-packages" into "C:\PROGRA~1\WebSite\bin\lib\site-packages", then they will be found. Check that each package contains an "__init__.py". Some archivers delete empty file on unpacking. This causes Python not to recognize a package. Dieter

by Jaroslav Lukesh 17 Sep '02

Hi all, I am very sorry for that easy question. <dtml-if owner_info><dtml-with owner_info mapping>owned by &dtml-id; (&dtml-path;).</dtml-with ><dtml-else>unowned.</dtml-if> I was try with ZCatalog searching and it ignores all real ownerships and print it as my own. I was try to play with "zaprdek.owner_info()['id']" but it gives me error with ZCatalog question like that: <dtml-in "zaprdek(bobobase_modification_time=_.DateTime() - 30, bobobase_modification_time_usage='range:max')" sort=bobobase_modification_time reverse> <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time fmt="%d-%m-%y %H:%M"> <a href="&dtml-getURL;/manage"> <dtml-var "zaprdek.getpath(data_record_id_)"></a> <dtml-if owner_info><dtml-with owner_info mapping> <dtml-id> (<dtml-path>).</dtml-with><dtml-else> unowned.</dtml-if> <br> </dtml-in> Many thanks for your help. Unauthorized error
by Chris Africa 17 Sep '02

17 Sep '02

Well, my student programmer is gone and now suddenly my financials site is not working. It spontaneously asks me to log in, and then gives me an error when I try to view the page. Here's the traceback in the HTML source: It looks like an unauthorized error, but I'm the site manager and I haven't restricted access to any pages for myself. This happens randomly throughout my site, including when I just try to go back to the main manage page and have just logged in. In other words, it seems to be forgetting that I'm the manager who has already logged in. I don't know where to start fixing this problem. Can someone give me an idea?
