Could someone explain how to integrate Zope into IIS (so I'm not running the Zope Web Server in addition to IIS). I would greatly appreciate any help with this! Thanks in advance, Nicholas F.

base href
by Dan Jacobs 15 Sep '02

Hi All, I am trying to get one of my zope sites to comply with W3c as valid HTML. One thing I noticed is that it doesn't seem possible in zope, something todo with the way zope insets its base href= e.g. <base href="http://www.zope.org/" /> See here http://makeashorterlink.com/?B28241AC1 for an example of this. Any thoughts on this? Thanks, Dan

Trouble installing CMF 1.3 on win32 Zope 2.5.1
by Adam Getchell 15 Sep '02

15 Sep '02

Hello all, I'm running Zope 2.5.1 on Windows 2000. I've downloaded and unpacked the CMF folder into the products directory (see directory listing below), several times now (deleting previous attempts). I used PowerArchiver, so I didn't have to uncheck RL/LF for WinZip. C:\DEVEL\lib\python\Products\CMF-1.3>dir Volume in drive C has no label. thin client questions...
by Ali Mualla 15 Sep '02

15 Sep '02

Hi all I just discovered Zope yesterday, when I was searching for a thin-client server software. I hope some of you can help me. I have a workstation at home to which I want to connect a small terminal computer (a thin client). The client does not have any drive at all, so it boots from network. What I am asking is, what does the workstation (which will act as the terminal server) need to get the terminal running? The workstation runs WinME/XPprofessional, I don't want to buy any software, and hoping for something that is free (open source). I don't know what exactly zope does, I know its an application server, but can it fit my needs? Regards, Ali Mualla

Whether you're using 5.5 or AD/200 you can get access to it (as an administrator). There's an example or 2 on www.aspn.activestate.com (I'd give you a link but their having SQL problems right now). [ANN] TextIndexNG 1.05 Beta 1 released
by Andreas Jung 14 Sep '02

14 Sep '02

After a longer period of time, I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG 1.05 beta1 TextIndexNG is a pluggable index for the ZCatalog that enhances the fulltext indexing capabilities of Zope by providing the following features: * support for document converters (HTML, PDF, WinWord, PowerPoint, Postscript). Custom converters can be easily added * stemmer support for 12 languages * optional support for right truncation * similarity search (soundex, metaphone support) (for english) * NEAR search * phrase search * pluggable query parsers (two parsers included) * stop words support * new test tab for interactive testing * faster than Zopes old TextIndex * full unicode support (new) * normalization support (new) * new similarity algorithm: double metaphone (new) * new TXNGSplitter * new vocabulary browser Changes: * added full wildcard support for CLLexicon and StandardLexicon * rewrote Stemmer module (now fully unicode compliant) * unittests code cleanup * query evaluation refactored * Parser API changed to return a parse tree instead of a Python expression * new parse tree evaluator added * PyQueryParser: now accepts a minus sign as prefix of a word to indicate NOT. Searching for "foo -bar" will be recognized as "foo AND NOT bar". In addition the syntax for "ANDNOT" has been changed to "AND NOT". * stopword handling through registry * added double metaphone algorithm for similarity search * Splitter handling changed: The new TXNGSplitter has been added. It supports both strings and unicode strings and supercedes the functionalities of all other existing splitters for Zope. TXNGSplitter is the only splitter that will be used by TextIndexNG. The "index numbers" options has been removed both from the splitter and the ZMI. In addition the splitter now accepts an optional set of characters that are recognized to be valid inside words. This allows you to index common words like "C++" or "python-22.lib" when you specify "+.-" as valid word characters. * Python C extensions compile now under Windows (Binary distribution will be available for Windows) * normalizer support added * full unicode support * the add form for TextIndexNG now uses the registries to obtain informations about registered componenents instead of hardcoded values. * fixed problem with changed API of the Interface packages (backport from Zope 3 to Zope 2.6) * added vocabulary browser * lots of code cleanup * bug fixes... * add statistics tab to ZMI * fixed serious bug in TXNGSplitter due to missing encoding parameter * minor ZMI adjustments * using converters no longer raises an exception when a converter could not be found for the mime-type of a document Requirements: * Zope 2.5 or Zope CVS trunk checkout Documentation: * http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG/wiki Download: * http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG/ or * http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50052 --------------------------------------------------------------------- - Andreas Jung http://www.andreas-jung.com - - EMail: andreas at andreas-jung.com - - "Life is too short to (re)write parsers" - ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem with Security tab, at the root
by Ausum Studio 14 Sep '02

14 Sep '02

This is the second time it happens, though I didn't have the time to replicate sucessfully what drove me there (cause I was ready to upgrade to 251 at that moment). This is what appears when I want to enter the security tab, at Zope's root: 'in ' requires character as left operand (zope logo) Traceback (innermost last): File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 114, in publish File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Zope) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: manage_access) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: manage_access) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\AccessControl\Role.py, line 186, in manage_access (Object: Zope) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 252, in __call__ (Object: _normal_manage_access) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 283, in _bindAndExec (Object: _normal_manage_access) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\App\special_dtml.py, line 172, in _exec (Object: _normal_manage_access) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_With.py, line 76, in render (Object: _.namespace(valid_roles=valid_roles())) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\DocumentTemplate\DT_In.py, line 617, in renderwob (Object: permission_settings) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\AccessControl\Role.py, line 111, in permission_settings (Object: Zope) File D:\ARCHIV~1\Zope251\lib\python\AccessControl\Role.py, line 106, in <lambda> TypeError: (see above) All the other tabs work, including the same 'Security' tabs within each folder. The only place when this error happens is at the root. I'm not sure at what moment the problem could've happened, because I didn't need to look at that tab for quite a time. Has anyone else had this experience? Ausum
