Dtml-tree and subfolders
by Pascal Samuzeau 05 Sep '02

Hi, I have the following hierarchical contents : FolderRoot ----Folders -------FolderA ---------FolderAA ---------FolderAB -------FolderB -------FolderC -------DocumentX I want to display it with Dtml-tree, so I have written : <dtml-let URL=absolute_url> <dtml-tree expr="Folders" leaves=dtcTemplate sort=title> <dtml-var title> </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> By this way I can catch FolderA, FolderB, FolderC and DocumentX. But I can't go inside FolderA, this is due to URL=absolute_url. What I have missing with Dtml-tree to catch the right URL and so open the contents ? Python Script REQUEST namespace not found.
by H.Tan 05 Sep '02

05 Sep '02

Hi, I'm trying to write my first python script by passing parameter through the REQUEST object as following: --------------------------- In the Python Script: Parameter: name="world" return "Hello %s" %name ------------------------ in my DTML-Document: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('name', 'John')"> <dtml-var hello> -------------------------- In this case, I set the name to 'John' in the REQUEST object and call 'hello' object. 'hello' object shall be able to find the 'name' as 'John', but it doesn't The final result after calling the DTML-Document is: 'hello world' Anyone have idea, why the script didn'tt lookup the REQUEST object?

Re: [Zope] form params required error msg

Drew Nichols writes: > > Drew Nichols writes: > > > How do i override the default "form field required" message? > ... > <input name="param:required"> You can't unless you modify the Zope code (--> I think, "ZPublisher/Converters"). But you have at least two different options: * use JavaScript to check for required fields * use the "Formulator" product. I can do "required" checking and a lot more. It is much more flexible than Zope's form variable type suffixes. Dieter

ANNOUNCE: Pound - reverse proxy and load balancer - v0.10
by Robert Segall 05 Sep '02

05 Sep '02

This is to announce the release of Pound v0.10. New in this release: - added required/disallowed headers matching in groups - configurable cyphers/strength for SSL - retry request on discovering dead back-end - configurable logging facility - added configure script - fixed bug in multiple requests per connection (GROUP matching) - (re)fixed missing '~' in URL matching - fixed bug in reading certificate/private-key file What is Pound (from the Web page) - a reverse-proxy: it passes requests from client browsers to one or more back-end servers. - a load balancer: it will distribute the requests from the client browsers among several back-end servers, while keeping session information. - an SSL wrapper: Pound will decrypt HTTPS requests from client browsers and pass them as plain HTTP to the back-end browsers. - an HTTP/HTTPS sanitizer: Pound will verify requests for correctness and accept only well-formed ones. - an HTTP/1.1 to 1.0 proxy. - a fail-over-server: should a back-end server fail, Pound will take note of the fact and stop passing requests to it until it recovers. - a request redirector - it will pass client requests to separate groups of servers, based on required URL and the presence or absence of headers (pattern matching) Pound was specifically developed to serve as a front-end for multiple instances of Zope running on top of a common ZEO storage, but can be used with any other web server. A patch for the Python source of z2.py is available as part of the distribution to allow using Pound's SSL capabilities. Pound is currently in use in several mdeium to large volume sites and seems to be holding up quite well. The speed is well superior to other, equivalent solutions, the configuration is much simpler and the necessary resources (CPU, RAM, disk) are much, much lower. For further information, download, etc. please see http://www.apsis.ch/pound The software is at version 0.10 (beta quality). Further testing (especially under heavy loads), improvements and suggestions are welcome. Pound is distributed under the GPL. Enjoy and let me know how it works for you. -- Robert Segall Apsis GmbH Postfach, Uetikon am See, CH-8707 Tel: +41-1-920 4904

Logout User
by Borislav 05 Sep '02

05 Sep '02

I found this method to logout a user in Zope but apparently it does not work: <dtml-call "REQUEST['RESPONSE'].expireCookie('__ac_czo', path='/')"> The next page containing <b tal:content="user/getUserName">User Name</b> still shows the old user. What is the Zope API to do this from a Python script? Any suggestions why this does not work? Thanks in advance. --Borislav

Tracker Product
by G. Edw. Learned 05 Sep '02

05 Sep '02

I've found the trackerwiki site, with discussions about the Tracker product, but I haven't found anyplace to find the Tracker product itself. Can anyone help? I'm also open to any suggestions of other ticket tracking products I should look at. Thanks Ed

Re: [Zope] Boolean properties ( Zope 2.5)

zope-admin(a)zope.org <mailto:zope-admin@zope.org> scribbled on Thursday, September 05, 2002 9:55 AM: > > Ahh, yes, what was I thinking ;-)?! Sometimes it's easy to forget that > Zope 2.x isn't very "Pythonic" in places. Ok, so if you set a property > "bool", you can test it like this just fine: > > if context.bool: > print "true" > else: > print "false" > return printed > > If you'd like to poll the property in a form from DTML, try this: > <dtml-if bool> > <input type="checkbox" name="fooBool" checked /> <dtml-else? > <input type="checkbox" name="fooBool" /> > </dtml-if> > > So...you won't know what the actual value of a boolean property will > be, and it doesn't seem to be "on", either. I hope this answers your > question...anyone care to explain how PropertyManager handles boolean > objects? Thanks -- that is what I figured out eventually as well -- thought it was perhaps more "logical" than this.

Optimizing Target Size and Target max time in Control_Panel->Database->Cache Parameters
by Sven Rudolph 05 Sep '02

05 Sep '02

Hello all, can anybody tell me something about optimizing "Target Size" and "Target max time between accesses" in "Cache Parameters". Our Server has 1.5GByte of RAM and "Total number of objects in the database" is 324591. I pack the Database every day with "days=1" and "Database size" currently is 915.7M. I restarted the Server 30 minutes ago and "Total number of objects in all caches" is already at 231889. We have about 170000 hits/day. My current values are: Target Size: 110000 Target max time between accesses: 300 (I changed the default values because I thought the server has enough memory for this) Do you have any suggestions/suggested readings? I'm asking this, because I ran into some very diffuse performance/memory problems, and I don't know where to start searching.
