RE: [Zope] suppressing tracebacks

Quick Q: I've been using Zope 2.6a for new development, and find I really miss tracebacks in the html... Is there a way to turn them back on for the Zope instance I'm running on my workstation? Sean -----Original Message----- From: Chris McDonough [mailto:chrism@zope.com] Sent: Monday, September 02, 2002 2:58 PM To: Oliver Skiebe Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] suppressing tracebacks This whole area is much improved on the Zope trunk (aka Zope 2.6). I'd suggest checking it out when you get a chance. Instead of putting tracebacks in HTML responses by default, it consolidates logging into an "error log" object. You can optionally tell the error log object to write errors to the event log (stupid log) as well. As far as Zope 2.5.1 goes... I'm honestly not sure how it's supposed to work. If there was ever a clear and forthright description of the intent of BOBO_DEBUG_MODE and HTTP_TRACEBACK_STYLE, it was lost long ago. ;-) - C On Mon, 2002-09-02 at 17:43, Oliver Skiebe wrote: > hi, > > i´m trying to suppress tracebacks in error messages in zope 2.5.1; > fussing around with BOBO_DEBUG_MODE=0 and HTTP_TRACEBACK_STYLE=none > didn´t do anything; > seems like zope defaults to debug mode (setting -D 0 didn´t work either), > which it shouldn´t do... > > any suggestions? > thank you! > > > _______________________________________________ > Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope > ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** > (Related lists - > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce > http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Xron and PCGI
by Steve Lay 05 Sep '02

Is there any way to make Xron and PCGI working together? At the moment I've got several happy servers running on PCGI but I would now like to install and use Xron on one of them. Unfortunately, after much fiddling about we are unable to get the Xron tasks to fire. We've investigated the sources and it looks like the type of threading Xron relies on is not used when running from PCGI, but I'm a python/threads novice so I could be wrong. My next lead is to try and get Zope running as a web server on some port other than 80 in addition to having stuff routed through pcgi in the hopes that Xron will then start working. Is that possible? Steve

Hello all, I'm willing to pay $30 for a piece of python code that works with this formulator form render code. the solution code should help preserve current-selection-state of multi-selected multi list & checkboxes when editing records in a MySQL table. ------------- formulator form render----- <dtml-in "data_sql()"> <dtml-let row=sequence-item> <dtml-in "data_edit_form.get_fields()"> <dtml-let field=sequence-item> <dtml-var "field.get_value('title')"> <dtml-var "field.render(row[field.getId()],REQUEST)"> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> </dtml-in>

Alan, I'm sorry about e-mailing you directly. Anyway, I tried that context.directory.subdirectory.manage_addFile() and it worked. I know I tried that yesterday, but I guess there some typo error in my code thats why it didn't work. I feel so dumb. Maybe its just the stress. Anyway, thanks! You have been a great help!! RE: [Zope] Boolean properties ( Zope 2.5)

I agre that in the 'a' and 'b' case it's not so much a question of logic as it is value representation. I included it in the discussion because I thought it was interesting. Also, the page I linked to had a definition of Python's true / false: 0, '', [], (), {}, and None are false in a boolean context; everything else is true PS. I have actually used the 'and-or trick' once or twice after I found out about this -----Original Message----- From: Eron Lloyd [mailto:elloyd@lancaster.lib.pa.us] Sent: Thursday, 5 September 2002 10:55 a.m. To: Chris Beaven Cc: Brian Sullivan; zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] Boolean properties ( Zope 2.5) Correct, but that's only when doing a comparison. Python will perform a lazy comparison, returning either the first true value (in an "or" expr.), or the last true value in an "and" expr. In the case stated, it's not so much a question of logic as it is value representation. Honestly, I don't understand why you would ever want the actual *value* returned by a boolean expression, instead of it's state. What needs to be done probably is a re-examination of the problem at hand. In Python, 'and' and 'or' perform boolean logic as you would expect, but they do not return boolean values; they return one of the actual values they are comparing. >>> 'a' and 'b' 'b' >>> '' and 'b' '' >>> 'a' or 'b' 'a' >>> '' or 'b' 'b' http://diveintopython.org/apihelper_andor.html Well, I found it interesting... -----Original Message----- From: Brian Sullivan [mailto:brians@meetingbywire.com] Sent: Thursday, 5 September 2002 2:27 a.m. To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Boolean properties ( Zope 2.5) I a trying to figure out what values are stored in Boolean typed properties of a Zope object in order to display information in and retrieve and set information from form checkboxes. Zope with ZsapdbDA
by Vitor Varalonga 04 Sep '02

Hi, I'm having with the DA for SAP DB (ZsapdbDA) and i was wondering if someone could lean me an helping hand. When i try to create a connection I get an error page with the following text: Invalid connection string: tst@matrix test test Traceback (innermost last): File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 150, in publish_module File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 114, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 159, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Zope) File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 98, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 88, in mapply (Object: manage_addZsapdbConnection) File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 39, in call_object (Object: manage_addZsapdbConnection) File C:\Program Files\Zope2\lib\python\Products\ZsapdbDA\DA.py, line 25, in manage_addZsapdbConnection (Object: Zope) File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\Connection.py, line 60, in __init__ (Object: sapdb_database_connection) File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\Connection.py, line 89, in edit (Object: sapdb_database_connection) File C:\PROGRA~1\Zope2\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB\Connection.py, line 168, in connect (Object: sapdb_database_connection) File C:\Program Files\Zope2\lib\python\Products\ZsapdbDA\db.py, line 37, in __init__ File C:\Program Files\Zope2\lib\python\Products\ZsapdbDA\DCsapdb\sapdbapi.py, line 101, in __init__ BadRequest: (see above) The parameters on the connection are correct since I've connected successfully through SQL Studio. Since this could mean my installation for the DA was not that correct, I'll describe how I've done it. First, I downloaded and copied the adapter to the products folder. Then I've downloaded the python modules and copied the files to the folder ZsapdbDA\DCsapdb\sapdb and I've also copied the file sapdbapi.py to the folder ZsapdbDA\DCsapdb. When I run Zope on the command line I get no error message concerning this product, but when I try to create a connection, kaboom. Any clues/suggestions? thanks in advance, Vitor Varalonga PS: the python modules version I used is 7.3.00.25 for win32 and Python 2.1, but I also test with version 7.3.00.21a.
