I have a site setup, using https. I have a form, that when submitted redirects to a file, which is downloaded. This works using Mozilla, Netscape, curl and wget. IE fails with "The requested site is either unavailabe or cannot be found". The Location in the HTTP 302 redirect is absolute. ? -- /Magnus Heino

passing variables from internal methods

I'm working with converting Squishdot to use ZPT so that it looks more like the rest of our site. Using DTML Squishdot passes variables from an internal method to a DTML method like this, return self.showMessage( self, REQUEST=REQUEST, title='%s Posted' % klass.meta_type, message=message, action=path ) The DTML method then refers to <dtml-var action>. How do I refer to the variable in a TAL statement to have access to "action". Everything I've tried has been a variation on, <span tal:replace="here/action">Action</span> which is undefined. -- Bryan C. Forgot my admin password

Well I get the dummy award. I first installed Zope several months ago. Because of work items I was unable to study it after installing it, and now I'm finally getting to work on it. So I'm following the "The Zope Bible" and navigate to the management page (/manage) and immediately realize I forgot my site admin password. I am root on the SuSE Linux 7.3 Pro box it runs on. Is there a way for me to change or discover the password? Sheepishly, thx

Hey all, I have a macro, as follows: <metal:block define-macro="std"> <tr> <td colspan="3" class="help"> <i><metal:block define-slot="help"></metal:block></i> </td> </tr> <tr> <th align="right" valign="top"> <metal:block define-slot="name">NAME</metal:block> </th> <td colspan="2" class="textEntry" valign="top"> <metal:block define-slot="content">CONTENT</metal:block> </td> </tr> </metal:block> It renders a three-item block, consisting of name, value, and help text. This is the "pda" version - it gets called for clients that are pda's, and stacks the help text above the name/value, so it displays nicely on a pda - the normal version strings them side-by-side. The html designer's come back to me and said "that's great, but I've got instances where there is no help text - and I'd like the tr to not appear when there's no help text". I really don't want to have to pull this whole thing into python - at the moment, the guys doing html have control over this, it's the smallest item they do have control over, and with it they can fairly significantly change the layout of the site (in conjunction with styles etc). Ideally, I need some way to put a conditional into the macro, so that the first tr is only rendered if there's content for the help slot. Is this doable? KevinL

FTP login fail with VHM

Hi all, I have computer (W2k) that running Zope with VHM (simple virtual mode without apache). If I have defined some mappings in that VHM, then FTP login fails for any user (defined for subweb only) except superuser. Console says that Login success that is curious. VHM mappings: LSH/www/www.k-net.cz *.k-net.cz/www/www.k-net.cz Zope runs on servers: w2k.sit.k-net.cz (web), LSH.sit.k-net.cz (development) FTP clients are connects from w2k.sit.k-net.cz (MS terminal server) and from LSH.sit.k-net.cz (local computer where I develop webs). Boths connections on both servers fails. If VHM mapping is empty, or when I running locally with filled mappings (then LSH.sit.k-net.cz have name LSH only) without any network (dialup only) then FTP login is OK. FTP access is done via ftp://ip_address:8021/www/www.k-net.cz What I am doing bad? It is caused by internal M$ DNS (it runnings on same machine as Zope)? Many thanks, J. Lukesh

In adition to extract metadata from the image, the product extension makes Photo to store all image instances in the jpg format, thus making them viewable by all browsers. The original file keeps its own format. Hi all, Today I want to start Zope and it says "host not found". Non-live edits to live site

I went live with part of my site in Zope and all went well (thanks for the mountains of help from this group). But I've ran into a bit of a sticky wicket that I hadn't thought of until now. We (me - Developer and our Designer) primarily use external editors on Win98 and FTP to do what we need to do, then upload the changes back to Zope (I use Xemacs, she uses DreamWeaver) - however the version control object doesn't catch FTP transactions, so whatever we upload is live, thereby eliminating the ability to test new things (particularly new scripts - which don't work with version control anyway). My question is - short of setting up a ZEO cluster (which I'm not sure would solve it anyway), or having a zope install on our desktops, how can I setup some ability to do new things to the site without them being live right away? -jim
