RE: [Zope] Vhosting

Hello all, Okay, so I read the links you gave me. http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Books/ZopeBook/2_6Edition/VirtualHosting.s tx http://www.zope.org/Members/Jace/apache-vhm http://www.zope.org/Members/bowerymarc/squid-zserver-virtual Starting from scratch, I created a zope user on my OpenBSD box, with a home directory of /home/zope. I then ran # /usr/local/bin/zope-instance /home/zope as root, to create an instance of Zope. # chmod -R zope:nobody /home/zope # su zope # /home/zope/start & To start Zope as user zope. I then logged into the site, created my /site1 and /site2 folders, and created a Virtual Host monster with mappings of: site1.ucdavis.edu/site1 site2.ucdavis.edu/site2 At this point, going to site1.ucdavis.edu goes to the main website, while going to site1.ucdavis.edu:8080 goes to the subfolder. So I think my Squid configuration is off. I went through /etc/squid/squid.conf and have the following options enabled (not commented out): http_port 80 acl QUERY urlpath_regex cgi-bin \? no_cache deny QUERY cache_dir diskd /var/squid/cache 100 16 256 emulate_httpd_log on auth_param basic children 5 auth_param basic real Squid proxy-caching web server auth_param basic credentialsttl 2 hours httpd_accel_host my.ip. httpd_accel_port 8080 httpd_accel_single_host on I'm confused about the ACL's in step 4 of http://www.zope.org/Members/bowerymarc/squid-zserver-virtual I don't see an acl of type webserver in squid.conf ... So what should that line be? acl ext-ip-addr site1.ucdavis.edu www.xxx.yyy.zzz/255.255.255.255 And then the ACL is ...? Http_access allow MATCH ext-ip-addr Clearly, the zope side of things are working so far. What is the SiteAccessEnhanced used for? Do I still need a site root in each virtual folder? ZPT and standard_error_message solution
by Andy Dustman 25 Aug '02

25 Aug '02

I ran into some problems using a ZPT for the standard_error_message, and noticed from the archives that others had as well. It took me awhile but I eventually found a cause and solution. The problem occurs if your ZPT standard_error_message uses a template macro, i.e.: <html metal:use-macro="here/main_template/macros/master"> If the error is NotFound (404), then here apparently is nowhere, i.e. not defined, and there the only way to directly acquire the template is by using root, i.e. <html metal:use-macro="root/main_template/macros/master"> (or something similar, depending on your template location) Even then, here is (apparently) not defined within the template, so this doesn't get you much if your template uses here, and it probably does. Solution: Make standard_error_message a DTML method. It can be as simple as: <dtml-return expr="other_error_message(error_type=error_type, error_message=error_message, error_value=error_value, error_tb=error_tb)"> where other_error_message is a ZPT which uses a template. here is defined (on a 404, here is the location of other_error_page). In my case, I ended up using this instead: <dtml-if "error_type=='NotFound'"> <dtml-return missing_error_message> <dtml-else> <dtml-return expr="other_error_message(error_type=error_type, error_message=error_message, error_value=error_value, error_tb=error_tb)"> </dtml-if> The reason for this, I had trouble in the ZPT testing the error_type to see if it was NotFound, and it was easier to test for this in the DTML Method to use a different error page. You could do this with a Python script as well, but you wouldn't gain much if anything. -- Andy Dustman PGP: 0x930B8AB6 @ .net http://dustman.net/andy "Cogito, ergo sum." -- Rene Descartes "I yam what I yam and that's all what I yam." -- Popeye

Recovering corrupt XML Export files?
by Terry Hancock 25 Aug '02

25 Aug '02

Hi, I recently had some problems with my site involving CookieUserFolder, so I was trying to back it out. However, even after removing all CUF folders and the product, I still had cookie authentication coming up (apparently following the information in regular UserFolders (?)). Anyway, thinking that something invisible was going on in the site, I tried exporting and importing a large part of the site. The export seemed to work, but the import failed, initially with a complaint about an __init__() not receiving enough parameters. This was apparently from a DTMLFile class instance. Unfortunately, I hadn't backed up the Data.fs right before doing this (I was unfortunately relying on the export to work -- I know ... I should've known better). Anyway, I was hoping to try to recover this XML export file. I made a copy and tried to chop out references to the CookieUserFolder and DTMLFile objects. I figured I'd probably lose some data, but might be able to get the bulk of it to load. I did this by cutting "item" and "record" elements containing the strings "CookieUserFolder" or "DTMLFile". I did get past the __init__ error, but now am seeing a new one: cPickle.BadPickleGet I should also mention that this XML file is just over 64 megabytes in size -- I suppose I could be running out of memory or something. I don't know enough about how it's parsed to know if that's likely (but surely Zope export files are expected to be large?). I'm also inquiring with my hosting provider, who I think keeps fairly frequent backups -- I may be able to restore a not-too-old copy of my Data.fs file, but I'm hoping to get some recent data out, if at all possible. I don't really understand the structure in the XML export file. It looks really fine-grained, and I'm not sure I can easily extract data based on the original folder structure -- is there any chance of doing that (i.e. finding the most important elements out of the file and restoring just those?). Is there a way to trace the exact point in the export file where Zope failed (as it is, I get a traceback that refers to the importing code, but doesn't tell me what it was chewing on when it choked). I tried to search the Zope site for some information on this, but I'm not really sure what I should be looking for exactly. Well, anyway, any advice appreciated. I feel like an idiot, but maybe I'll learn something useful out of it. Unlocking locked Folder?
by Andreas Kostyrka 25 Aug '02

25 Aug '02

Hi! I've got a small problem with one of my Zope sites: I've deleted a version, but the ZMI still shows some folders as locked by the already nonexistant version? So my question: Is there any way to unlock such a folder other then undoing the manage_deleteObject? Andreas

Hi Ausum, You've helped me enough.... using the code you sent me before I continued to play, and this seems to work... Hi Ausum, The variable in question is as follows... REQUEST.CustomLinkVars contains ['SelectStudentID'] and all the other vars in the code snippet are initialised within the loop. Hope this sheds more light on it! dtml-if fustration!

Hi all, I have a fustrating problem with dtml-if's!! I've tried to work round it in many ways, but there is probably an easy one I am overlooking knowing my luck... Anyway... Consider the following dtml-if statement: <dtml-if SelectSID> SelectSID = <dtml-var SelectSID> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('SelectSID', SelectSID)"> </dtml-if> This works okay, and stores the variable SelectSID in the request for the code to pick up again on it's next pass. However, on the next pass, the variable SelectSID doesn't exist! As the variable is now REQUEST.SelectSID - and the following code doesn't work.... <dtml-if "REQUEST.SelectSID"> SelectSID = <dtml-var SelectSID> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('SelectSID', REQUEST.SelectSID)"> </dtml-if> ...as an error is thrown up if REQUEST.SelectSID doesn't exist! Anybody got a simple answer to my dilemma?!! Many thanks for any help! Regards, Greg Conway.
