FW: [Zope] dtml-if fustration! (right code!)
by Greg Conway 25 Aug '02

Okay, scrub all that... Here's the right code! :) <dtml-in "REQUEST.CustomLinkVars"> <dtml-let Counter=sequence-index> <dtml-let OuterVar=sequence-item> <dtml-if "_.getattr(REQUEST,REQUEST.CustomLinkVars[Counter])"> <dtml-if sequence-start> <dtml-if "REQUEST.Where==0"> WHERE </dtml-if> </dtml-if> <dtml-if "REQUEST.NeedSeperator==1"> AND <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('NeedSeperator',0)"></dtml-if> <dtml-var "REQUEST.CustomLinkFields[Counter]">=<dtml-var "_.int(_.getattr(REQUEST,REQUEST.CustomLinkVars[Counter]))"> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('NeedSeperator',1)"> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> I'm not going to snip anything this time so I don't mess it up in any way!! REQUEST.CustomLinkVars is an array, currently containing (ie) ['SelectStudentID'] but could contain ['SelectStudentID','SelectOrgID','SelectHomeID'], etc. and could also be empty! ['']. When this array is empty, no problems - the whole section doesn't run as it's inside a <dtml-in .. > statement. that's good. The problem occurs when this array DOES contain a value, but the value of the variable it contains does not exist in the request. ie REQUEST.CustomLinkVars is an array containing ['SelectStudentID'], but SelectStudentID is not a variable in the request. I want this line... <dtml-if "_.getattr(REQUEST,REQUEST.CustomLinkVars[Counter])"> ... to test if this variable inside a variable exists inside the request, and act accordingly. BUT it doesn't - it throws up an error if the variable does not exist!! So, hopefully it makes sense THIS time!! many thanks for any help! 2.7 on dev.zope.org
by pieterb＠gewis.nl 25 Aug '02

Hello, Today, I found the page describing the 2.7 release (http://dev.zope.org/Projects/) hidden somewhere on the dev.zope.org website. It might be a good idea to link it directly from http://dev.zope.org in order for more people to find it. I think the dev.zope.org should also give a brief overview of the current direction of the Zope releases. I read the following: at http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/SupportPython22/VisionStatement "The intent is to release Zope 2.7 in parallel with Zope 2.6. Zope 2.6 will provide new features for people who are unable to transition to Python 2.2 right away. Zope 2.7 is being driven by some specific business needs of several companies (not including Zope Corporation). For this reason, we would like to make Zope 2.7 available in August. It's possible that Zope 2.7 will be released before the release of Zope 2.6." It might be a good idea to summarize that at http://dev.zope.org/ Some other remarks about that page: - I couldn't find a way to only bug Brian about the page. Thats why I now email it to the whole community - The footer contains: "(c) 2000, Digital Creations, Inc. All rights reserved", rather outdated ;) Regards, Pieter

Howdy, Windows 2000, Zope 2.5.1 I'd like to move data.fs from \Program Files\Zope\var\data.fs to another location. I tried \Program Files\Zope\start.bat -p "c:\new\location\data.fs" , no good. TIA, Kent

persistence of unpicklable objects
by KevinL 25 Aug '02

25 Aug '02

Is there any easy way to make unpicklable objects created by a python product, persist across product refreshes? When a product is refreshed, it appears that every object the product provides gets re-instantiated - I'm having trouble finding somewhere to stash a reference to the unpicklable object (lists used to communicate with an extra thread holding another object - long story) that doesn't get trashed by a product refresh. XML-RPC and cyrillic text in CP1251 and UTF-8
by Dmitry Litovchenko 25 Aug '02

25 Aug '02

Currently I'm creating Control Panel for Zope site using Microsoft C#.NET which makes programs speaking in native 2-byte Unicode. Also I am using XMLRPC library for C#.NET which seem to function almost properly (almost or I haven't understood something). The problems are: 1. Zope doesn't accept single parametered function calls, only zero or two or more, single parameter calls always fail. 2. Zope doesn't like UTF8-encoded XML request with parameter values containing cyrillic text, I always get failure response from server, but Zope likes UTF8-encoded response and passes its content correctly back to my program. 3. Empty (string "") return value wasn't correctly recognised by XMLRPC library (this is not Zope issue) Workarounds found were: 1. Use second dummy parameter 2. Pack UTF8 cyrillic strings with BASE64 and unpack in receiving Zope method using base64 module and then decode to 1-byte CP1251 encoding using "encodings" module. 3. Use special response string value like "empty" or "none" which means "none" ;) The question is: Are there more straightforward methods to fix this or workarounds found are ok?

Re: REMOTE_ADDR

Please stay on the list. KevinL writes: > Your patch to add support for REMOTE_ADDR to VHM - I can apply it ok to > VHM, but looking at it, it sets a value in REQUEST.environ - are there > threading issues with that at all? REQUEST describes one request. With the standard Zope threading model, only one thread is responsible to handle one request. Unless you do very special things, there are no threading issues associated with REQUEST. Even when you do very special things, the VHM patch should be unaffected, because it runs very early, usually before your application gets any chance to intervene. > Is environ shared across multiple > requests, No. It is local data inside "REQUEST". > and might multiple requests at once munge that up a bit? > Am I > safer dumping the value into REQUEST itself? There is no difference with respect to safety. But "REQUEST.environ" is where "REMOTE_ADDR" is usually placed. You may get surprises when you put it elsewhere... Dieter

Header Problem w/t Zope/Apache/PHP
by Wayne 25 Aug '02

25 Aug '02

G'day all, I have set up my vhost in apache with proxypass and the thing seems to work. because now when i hit the domain http://ludditerecords.com the browser try's to download a file. I then "telnet ludditerecords.com 80" and display header "GET / HTTP/1.1 Host: luddliterecords.com" this comes back that "Content-Type: application/x-httpd-php" this seems to be the problem. Is there a way to change this? or perhaps a way around it (Note:others on the server want php but not with zope) Thankies, Wayne

RE: [Zope] User authentication against Windows Active Directory?

I assume the answer is "via LDAP." http://www.dataflake.org/software/ldapuserfolder http://www.dataflake.org/software/cmfldap/ Sean -----Original Message----- From: Carlos A. RE: [Zope] IE rejects cookies
by Jacob Behm 24 Aug '02

Yeah that's a thought. But I'm behind Apache using FastCGI so it should be running on port 80. -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Maurer [mailto:dieter@handshake.de] Sent: Friday, August 23, 2002 1:15 PM To: Jacob Behm Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: Re: [Zope] IE rejects cookies Jacob Behm writes: > All other browsers work fine. Maybe, IE becomes suspicious for non-standard HTTP ports (8080 instead of 80)? Dieter
