CPU Affinity, was RE: [Zope] Linux vs. UNIX vs. BSD

This sounds better (and I think this is more advanced that the stuff RedHat is doing, using Ingo Molnar's work in the O2 scheduler), because it is (and should be) in this case simply a sysadmin task to make sure your Zope instances (and all the processes tied to a particular instance) is bound to the same CPU. This would also be nice in the case of being able to use a single SMP box to run a ZEO cluster within using UNIX sockets for communication, and binding your ZEO clients (and the ZSS) to respective processors. I haven't tested it, but it sounds nice. cheers, oliver

Sort by content creation date
by Patrick Romano 21 Aug '02

I want to sort a certain number of Kubes by their content creation date, which is DD/MM/YY, but if I do it like that <dtml-in expr="news.objectValues('Kube')" sort="content_creation_date"> the Kubes are sorted by date starting from the left : sorted by DD first. How can I achieve to have it soted by YY without changing the order of my date (DD/MM/YY)? anchors won't work anymore with querystring as href
by myzope＠softhome.net 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

Hello, Not sure if this is a Zope topic. For some reason i use links to different files in the form of a querystring: <a href="?help#topic" target="_top"> should point to the dtml document help, to the anchor 'topic'. but now anchors like #topic won't work anymore. Anybody knows of a workaround for this? Cheers, Dirk

LDAPUserFolder Question
by Meilicke, Scott 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

Hi - I am trying to authenticate against LDAPUserFolder 1.5. I'm using a MS Exchange 5.5 directory (I know, I know...). I can connect, and search for members based on both the cn and sn, but can't authenticate using CMF 1.1 and the CMFLDAP tools. I'm trying to authenticate using the cn. When I do a search, the cn shows as First.Last. When I try to logon using First.Last, I get a logon failure, and the log set at debugging level(9) shows First.Last not found. Any thoughts on being able to authenticate? bobobase_creation_time
by Deepak, V 21 Aug '02

I use the following code to show menu of items ordered by the creation time. <dtml-in expr="a.b.objectValues('Folder')" sort="bobobase_creation_time"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a> </dtml-in> this doesn't do what I expect it to do. The items are reordered almost all times I select one of them. And the reordering is not consistent. Random behavior is seen. Please throw some light.

recovering root from rogue external method
by Tim 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

I had Zope set up on a FreeBSD box, but being too slow i moved it to a faster Windows box (faster hardware with more ram, not faster OS...)... I took the Data.fs over there, and everything seems fine... Except I can't access the root folder of the management interface. The problem seems to be an External method i was monkeying around trying to get working on the other box. I was getting an import error. I moved the script to the windows box (zhtml.py). But now I get "Failed to import class TABLE from module ZODB.zhtml" ... the class is there though? Any hints how i can get rid of this messed up object and stop my root management folder from crashing? (I don't care about recovering the external method -- it never worked... it was an experiment of long ago which i'd practically forgotten about)... It would be ever so convenient to be able to access that root folder again! I was thinking i could list/remove objects from the ZODB programmatically? I just don't have the Zope knowledge, alas... -- Tim Middleton | Cain Gang Ltd | I'd ha' been a better man all my life if x(a)veX.net | www.Vex.Net | I'd known there were things like this. (CSL)

Re: [Zope] DTMLFile, the mysterious animal

Dieter Maurer wrote: > Oliver Bleutgen writes: > > ... > > and now I get a TypeError, "object of type 'list' is not callable" > Again! > > Where is the traceback? Dieter, is this a bug that occured to you? Unfortunately I didn't save the traceback, and I was not able to reproduce it. Add to that the fact that my usage of DTMLFile was wrong, but why this should have caused _that_ error is not clear to me. What happend was that the method objectItems seemed not to be a method when called in the file. Before posting to this list I tried to debug what happend: <dtml-var objectItems> returned the right list <dtml-var "objectItems()"> gave the above error <dtml-var "objectItems"> returned the right list! After the last discovery, I gave up and posted here. Seems like objectItems got overwritten by the result of the method with the same name. cheers, oliver

Newbie product question
by Marie Robichon 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

Hi, In true newbie style I have followed many examples of product making, but have got stuck going further.... I would like to subclass OrderedFolder, then as my product is created add a page template inside it. My code (patchwork of other examples) manages to create the OrderedFolderish item but no page template is created inside it. Please be indulgent I am not a programmer..... My code is below, TIA Marie from Products.OrderedFolder import OrderedFolder from mxm import mxmObjectManager from Products.PageTemplates.PageTemplate import PageTemplate class ESRFFolder(OrderedFolder.OrderedFolder, mxmObjectManager.mxmObjectManager): meta_type = 'ESRF Folder' _allowed_meta_types = ('ESRF Folder','Page Template','Image','File') _properties = ( {'id':'title', 'type':'string', 'mode':'w'}, {'id':'Summary', 'type':'text', 'mode':'w'}, ) def manage_addAction(self, id=None, REQUEST=None): "Add instance to parent ObjectManager" mxmObjectManager.addClass(self, id, ESRFFolder, REQUEST) constructors = (mxmObjectManager.manage_addForm, manage_addAction) def manage_afterAdd(self, item, container): Folder.manage_afterAdd(self, item, container) try: user=REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'] except: user=None if (user is not None) and not ( user.has_permission('Add Page Templates', self)): raise 'Unauthorized', ( 'You are not authorized to add Page Templates.' ) try: self._setObject('contents_html', PageTemplate.PageTemplate('contents_html')) except: pass

Tal:condition problem
by zope 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

Hi All I am trying to execute a macro only if a condition is satisified. The code I am using is: <div tal:condition="python:request.form['id'] == 't' | nothing" metal:use-macro="container/zptmac_memtask/macros/zptmac_taskslist"> List </div> <div tal:condition="python:request.form['id'] == 'p' | nothing" metal:use-macro="container/zptmac_mempending/macros/zptmac_pendlist"> List </div> <div tal:condition="python:request.form['id'] == 'w' | nothing" metal:use-macro="container/zptmac_memweek/macros/zptmac_weeklist"> List </div> <div tal:condition="python:request.form['id'] == 'a' | nothing" metal:use-macro="container/zptmac_memall/macros/zptmac_alllist"> List </div> Depending on which value is passed with the form object i want that a particular macro be called. But as soon as this page is rendered it shows me all the macros irrespective of whether I am sending any value for "id". Is there some way I can check the condition and only show the required macro. I m sure someone working on this particular area dealing with different conditions can help me out. Best Regards John Kunchandy --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
