python ques
by AM 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

Hi all, I realize the following is a python question but my post on comp.lang.python has been languishing there for some time now without any replies, so I just wanted to check if any of you knew a way out of my problem... I am trying to convert XML docs to HTML docs using an XSL file on the fly. The function (external method ) that I have which does it is the following: ## code begin import libxml2 import libxslt styledoc = libxml2.parseFile("page.xsl") style = libxslt.parseStylesheetDoc(styledoc) doc = libxml2.parseFile("xml_file.xml") result = style.applyStylesheet(doc, None) #--- style.saveResultToFilename("-", result, 0) #--- style.freeStylesheet() doc.freeDoc() result.freeDoc() ## code end Now the only problem with this is that result which is an xmldoc object can only save to a file, I looked at the source of libxml.py:xmldoc. It can dump and save in a variety of ways but only to a file or if the arg is "-", as above, to the standard output. I wanted to save the contents of result to a string which I could then send back as part of the RESPONSE object. So I have two ques: 1. If possible, how do I save the contents directly to a string so as to bypass the whole "print open(html_file).read()" thing?? OR 2. How do I trap the output being sent to stdout and capture it into a string?? LOGIN MECHANISM
by chpeer2002 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

What I want to realise: - web-application with zope user login - username, password stored in an Interbase database - session tracking I've been searching for a while how to solve the login problem. Could you give me an answer to the following questions? 1) Is it possible to use the normal acl_user folder together the Interbase database? (How??) 2) Situation with ZODB: given is a web-page where a user can decide on one of two web-apps. He than has to login (zope user) using a web form. When the user logs out and than clicks the "back" button of the browser a few times he comes back to the first page. When the user now decides on the other web-app he is automatically logged in because the username and password are the same for both apps. I would like to force the user to login again. Do you have an idea? 3) Which login mechanism is used at zope.org? (ZODB??) Thanks for any help? Christian

ZUBB in ZPT
by Bryan C. Andregg 21 Aug '02

Has anyone ported ZUBBs dtml methods to ZPT? I'm thinking about integrating ZUBB within a portal and I don't want to replicate work if possible. I also don't have to have to modfy the generic content of the portal. Cheers, -- Bryan C. Session timeout
by Peter Bengtsson 21 Aug '02

How can I in an easy way find out when a session expires? On way would be to store in the session "SessionSetDateTime" and then look at the session_data object and do the math. Before I do that I just wanna check if there already is a way to do this stuff. Is there. Like <dtml-var "REQUEST.SESSION.expiresWhen()"> or <dtml-var "REQUEST.SESSION.minutesLeft()"> --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. cookies and paths?
by KevinL 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

Heya, Is it possible to have two cookies with the same name and different paths? It seems to me that ZPublisher/HTTPResponse.py is keying cookies off the name, and storing things like the path under that. Came up because I'm holding different cookies for different paths in a site - __ac, to be exact - and the userfolder I'm currently using sets a base-level __ac, while I want to set a /path __ac. Trying to expire both is proving difficult - I can expire one or the other, it seems. KevinL

Deiter, I followed this procedure and ended up recieving the following error. It basically says that I dont have the right version of the python installed. I have python2.2 installed. I unistalled zope-zmysqlda-2.0.8 and the py-MySQLdb-0.9.1 and then reinstalled zope-zmysqlda-2.0.8. This installs the correct version of required packages.. It should work...any idea's? SiteRoot <base...> problem
by Eric van Riet Paap 21 Aug '02

21 Aug '02

Can the <base href=.....> tag insert in the <head> block be disabled. I think this is something of the VirtualHostMonster, but I don't see why I would want it and it gives me a problem that I don't know how to solve. I have a multiple language site called quadgames.com , which has the option to change language by linking to the current page with an additional newlanguage=XX parameter. If a page is requested with this parameter than a session variable that stores the current language is modified. This works great! But now I added another site that should serve exactly the same content but with another default language (the site is called: quadgames.nl) . When Zope 'sees' that is a new session and no 'newlanguage' parameter is available then the default language is english (for the .com domain) and dutch (for the .nl domain). Great: this should actualy work if it wasn't for the fact that when the user selects a link (href/picture) the <base...> tag makes that all links refer to either the ipadress of the server or the .com or the .nl domain (whichever I select in SiteRoot). And when the user goes to the other domain it looks (this what I think happens) as if the session info is no longer valid (because we are on another domain now?) and the incorrect language is selected. I could make all links absolute but I don't want to be forced to do this! Does anyone uncerstand what I mean and is there a solution to my problem? kind regards, Eric
