Multiple inheritance and tree data structure problems

Hi, I'm developing a Zope product, ServiceProduct, that behaves as a Node in a Tree data structure. The class hierachy is the following [<--- : extends ; <- - - : implements] Base <---Tree <- - -TreeImpl Base <---- TreeNode <- - - TreeNodeImpl Base <---- Service Implicit,Persistent,RoleManager,ObjectManager,PropertyManager,Item <---- ProductBase ProductBase, TreeNodeImpl<---- ServiceProduct TreeNode<- - - ServiceProduct Service<- - - ServiceProduct So, when I create an new instance of ServiceProduct using the ZMI I found a problem with the constructor. The error message is "unbound method __init__() must be called with instance as first argument" and the code is def __init__(self, id): ProductBase.__init__(self,id,'') try: TreeNodeImpl.__init__(self,id) except Exception, e: print 'Problems with TreeNodeImpl constructor', e # do TreeNodeImpl initialization here if fails self.setNombre( id ) self.parentNode = None self.children = [] self.tree = None I hope that doing the TreeNodeImpl initialization in the except clause will solve this problem. Then, I add child ServiceProduct objects to the tree hierarchy but it seems that the references between parent and child objects change when new calls to the object are done (I use a DTML page for displaying hierarchy info). Even worse, the ProductBase has a method hashCode that shows instance info def hashCode(self): id = str( self ) id = id.replace( '<', '_') id = id.replace( '>', '_') id = id.replace( ' ', '_') return id returns two different results when is called from a DTML page, (sometimes the first and other times the second), BUT I have created only one instance of the object. Finally, I have tested the TreeImpl, TreeNodeImpl outside Zope and it works without any problems. Any idea of where is the problem? The 'constructor problem' is related to the 'references losing' problem? Any help with will be apreciated. Best regards, Manu

Great. We are about to go live in a first release. Is Zope 2.6a1 stable? It has some great features but I feel a bit queasy releasing alpha software on an alpha system...

What's the current status of the ErrorReporter product? (Is there any documentation?) I want to capture Zope errors to my handler--is this the right product?

dynamic navigation menu: comparing context to container

Hi, I have a Python script called select_this() that is supposed to return a boolean indicating whether the current item should be highlighted or not, depending on whether the current context is on that item's path. (One problem I may have in asking my question is I may not be using the correct terminology, so I invite any rewording that would make this more clear. I'm relatively new to Zope.) The problem is that it always returns 0 (False), so I think my problem is that I don't understand what context and container are--or how to compare them. Here's what the script looks like: # Return boolean indicating whether the specified item should be # displayed as selected. current = context while 1: if current == container: break if item == current: return 1 current = current.getParentNode() return 0 Here's the snippet of a ZPT page template where I'm trying to use select_this() to build the top-level of a dynamic navigation menu using the OrderedFolder objects within a content OrderedFolder: <span tal:omit-tag="" tal:repeat="section python:container.content.objectValues(['Ordered Folder'])"> <td tal:attributes="class python:test(container.select_this(section), 'tab_select', 'tab_unselect')" width="120" height="24"> <a tal:content="section/title_or_id" tal:attributes="href python:'/%s/content/%s' % (container.getId(), section.getId())" class="tab"></a> </td> </span> The structure of the site looks like this: /Root /navtest (Folder) /content (OrderedFolder) /a (OrderedFolder) /b (OrderedFolder) /c (OrderedFolder) select_this (Python Script) No matter where I navigate, all three top-level folders are shown with the style tab_unselect. Pointer to ZSQL Method using the UPDATE call

Hi, I have been poking around to try to find the proper syntax to do an UPDATE within and ZSQL Method. I will need to update several fields within the call. I tried using the following: update field_service_log set <dtmlsql-var caller_name type="string"> where <dtml-var service_log_num = service_log_num> It will save but produce an error. Test if an object exists in a folder

Login help

Hi, I am trying out Zope on SuSE Linux 8.0 Professional. The software is bundled with SuSE 8 and is installed by the system installer and automatically started by the system. Because of this, I do not get the Username/Password combination printed at startup. I have examined the inituser file and can see the username, but the password is encrypted. So I used zpasswd.py to change the inituser password, but for some reason I can still not log in. Authentication failed...would you like to try again..blahblah. I have tried this several times with diferrent username password cobinations(real simple ones) so no fingertrouble. After using zpasswd.py I verify that it actually did change the inituser wich it has, but no entry allowed. Any ideas?
