OK. So I decided to compile it from source. now I get the following error at startup: 2002-08-01T14:03:33 PANIC(300) z2 Startup exception Traceback (innermost last): File /opt/Zope-2.5.1-src/z2.py, line 558, in ? Regards JL. ---------- Odesílatel: Lawrence Strydom <laurie(a)midafrica.com> combination printed at startup. I have examined the inituser file and can see the username, but the password is encrypted. So I used zpasswd.py to change the inituser password, but for some reason I can still not log in. Authentication failed...would you like to try again..blahblah. I have tried this several times with diferrent username password cobinations(real simple ones) so no fingertrouble. After using zpasswd.py I verify that it actually did change the inituser wich it has, but no entry allowed. -------------------------------------------------------

ParsedXML and Python-Devel

Hi, please excuse this stupid question but I can't find the answer: where do you get the python devel and how do I install it (Suse 8.0)? (I know it's a stupid question because I found the answer about a year ago when I tried to install ZMySQLDA. But I spent 2 hours now and I can't find it again...) UnboundLocalError (Zope bug?)
by THerp＠apriori.de 01 Aug '02

01 Aug '02

Hi, after some modifications in my project the following error occurred (Zope 2.5.1): I don't understand exactly why this code is run in my case, but looking at HTTPRequest.py, line 640, it looks buggy: while not a=='': a=a.split( ":") a,new=':'.join(a[:-1]), a[-1] attr = new If a == '', new is never assigned. Is anyone around who knows what's going on there, and how to fix the bug? tia, Tobias Diese E-Mail enthält vertrauliche und/oder rechtlich geschützte Informationen. Since it won't work, I did it without document_src() (which isn't needed anyway in my case because the code doesn't change) and called the Template directly via context.aq_parent.components_[container.template](request) (which works fine, being components_ the folder containing the templates, and template the string property containing the id of the DTML method). Returning a zip file (downloaded by user)??
by Aseem Mohanty 01 Aug '02

01 Aug '02

Hi, I have a zip file that I create on the fly which is to be returned to the user. The process goes like this: 1. User clicks on a link. 2. External method creates a zip file and puts it in a temp folder( file system folder not Zope temp) 3. External method (same one) returns the zip file as part of response as type application/x-zip The following is what I do in to get it done:(part 3 i.e.) zip_size = stat(zip_file_name).st_size zip_file = open(zip_file_name) zip_data = zip_file.read() zip_file.close() REQUEST.RESPONSE.setStatus('OK') REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type','application/x-zip') REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Length',zip_size) REQUEST.RESPONSE.write(zip_data) but when I try it out the following happens: - the zip file is created - zip_data has the data (of course) - i am prompted to download something of type application/x-unknown-content - if i save the file it has zero length so what am I doing wrong or not doing here, that needs to be done to get this right?? Just double-click the start.bat file and you should see a MS-DOS window with some output. When the output stops, you can point your browser to http://localhost:8080/ and start playing. -- Martijn Pieters | Software Engineer mailto:mj@zope.com | Zope Corporation http://www.zope.com/ | Creators of Zope http://www.zope.org/ ---------------------------------------------

ANNOUNCE: Pound - reverse proxy and load balancer - v0.8
by Robert Segall 01 Aug '02

01 Aug '02

This is to announce the release of Pound v0.8. This release is mostly about bug fixes. Unless some new suggestions come in, the feature set seems to be rather complete at this point. Changes from previous version: - fixed a serious problem: Pound now is able to detect back-end connections that have timed out (closed by the server) and re-open them if necessary. Previous versions would return a "500 Server error" and log "can't read from xxx" in such cases. This issue was mostly apparent with newer versions of Apache that set time limits on connection times. - fixed the request pattern matching as per the RFCs (all allowed character classes). - fixed a problem with the handling of "HEAD" type requests. - fixed an issue with conflicts between SSL and multi-threading. - added a header indicating the origin of the request (X-Forwarded-For) - added the possibility to pass SSL certificate information in headers. What is Pound (from the Web page) - a reverse-proxy: it passes requests from client browsers to one or more back-end servers. - a load balancer: it will distribute the requests from the client browsers among several back-end servers, while keeping session information. - an SSL wrapper: Pound will decrypt HTTPS requests from client browsers and pass them as plain HTTP to the back-end browsers. - an HTTP/HTTPS sanitizer: Pound will verify requests for correctness and accept only well-formed ones. - an HTTP/1.1 to 1.0 proxy. - a fail-over-server: should a back-end server fail, Pound will take note of the fact and stop passing requests to it until it recovers. - a request redirector - it will pass client requests to separate groups of servers, based on required URL (pattern matching) For further information, download, etc. please see http://www.apsis.ch/pound The software is at version 0.8 (beta quality). Further testing (especially under heavy loads), improvements and suggestions are welcome. Pound is distributed under the GPL. Enjoy and let me know how it works for you. -- Robert Segall Apsis GmbH Postfach, Uetikon am See, CH-8707 Tel: +41-1-920 4904

FW: [Zope] self-referential page design - RESOLVED
by Jeff Sacksteder 01 Aug '02

01 Aug '02

OK- I seem to have a workable solution. Modifying the sql queries in some way was not practical due to the large number of them that would need to be modified. I wanted to adjust the value before it was passed to the individual page components. The start of my DTML document looks like this: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-if input_month> <dtml-else> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('input_month', '2002-07')"> </dtml-if> ...which seems to do what I need. Next I will work out how to automatically insert the current month as the default instead of hand-updating it on the first day of each month. Thanks for your assistance!
