Hi, I installed 2.5.1 and tried to combine apache with Zope by using pcgi. I remember that older versions of the Zope Package were started automatically by the pcgi-wrapper on the first HTTP request. My installation works fine, but only when I start the Zope daemon by Hand (that starts the pcgi socket file)... When I do not start Zope by Hand, I get an "(102) failure during connect"-error and the exclamation point... Can the first HTTP-Request trigger the start of the zope process... and if yes, how do I do that ? --- --- Oliver Pabst .-------------------------. mailto:olpa@sybcom.de : : phone :+49 681 56600600 : project department : SYBCOM GmbH fax :+49 681 56600660 : : http://www.sybcom.de

RE: [Zope] Another strange problem within ZSQL Method

Hi, This is my Pilot project using Zope for my company. I am using MS Access2000 on both machines as well as Windows2000 Pro. >>Have you tried submitting these same queries directly to the database outside of Zope? Yes I can do the same search from Access. The kicker is all the employees will be looking up part numbers by the first six digits. If this died on the seventh I would have never known. -----Original Message----- From: zope-admin(a)zope.org [mailto:zope-admin@zope.org]On Behalf Of Casey Duncan Sent: Wednesday, July 17, 2002 9:03 AM To: McDonnell, Larry; 'Zope@Zope. Another strange problem within ZSQL Method

Hi, I use my pc as the development platform for my Zope pilot. Everything works on my PC. Since this is a pilot, I have the main Zope server on an older machine. After coping over the db and exporting/import the programs I notice a strange problem. I wrote basically a search engine. I started to test this new installation. I noticed that I was not able to retrieve a part number using a wild card. I open the zsql method and started to test. If I entered the following I can see part number inofrmation: part_num 54% As I added more of the variable I was limiting the search and it worked. Until I inputed the following 54-070% worked but 54-0700% : The sql statement is as follows: select * from document_control where (part_num like '54-0700%') and (document_type like 'Numbering'); This did not work and does not until I put the whole number 54-0700-0001. Process Owner Originator Posted Location Y Numbering 54-0700-0001 pes01387.asm panel, rear filter housing A promain1/Current Master\Drawings\54-0700-0001_rev_a.pdf S. zope & oracle & linux
by Maik Jablonski 17 Jul '02

hi, I need to fetch data from a Oracle-DB. I've got DCOralce2, but it complains about some Oracle-Clients [ORACLE_HOME] not installed. My problem: I don't have these clients for linux and can't find them on the net. Is there any chance to get Linux-ZOPE working with Oracle? thanks, maik -- Maik Jablonski __o www.zfl.uni-bielefeld.de _ \<_ Deutsche Zope User Group Bielefeld, Germany (_)/(_) www.dzug.org

Announce StarRave 0-0-10
by Ed Colmar 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

Greetings zope hackers! I am pleased to announce a new release of StarRave, to coincide with the installation on the undisputed king of rave related internet services hyperreal.org This is a big step for StarRave (and zope)... Being that this machine is run by legendary Brian B. (apache, collab.net, etc...) We currently have 6 installs going over there, for different regional areas, and plans to use StarRave for all 18 of them eventually. We have a new appearance (thanks nodeone.com) new simplified install procedures, and a bunch of new admin tools. Again, thanks to everyone who has contributed to make this project great. View a populated StarRave here: www.trust-components.com The live hyperreal sites are: http://www.hyperreal.org:8080/raves/mo http://www.hyperreal.org:8080/raves/pb-cle View the main StarRave Master: http://www.starrave.org Get StarRave for your zope: http://www.zope.org/Members/element/StarRave/ -ed- -- Green Graphics ::: Print and Web Design ::: 510.923.0000

Transient Object Container timeout value
by Michael Fox 17 Jul '02

Hi *, This defaults itself back to 20 minutes everytime the Zope server is restarted? Is it possible to change this default value, so I can resolve this problem everytime the Zope server is restarted? Cheers, Michael

Data aggregation within a tree
by Brad Knotwell 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

Hello all-- My application has two custom objects types (one of them is folderish). I'm trying to add a view to the folderish object that'll aggregate statistics information on the lower-levels of the tree. Specifically, I'd like a flavor for how to do the following: traverse a tree w/o rendering it test an object's type if an object is a specific type: update counters appropriately based on the internal state of the object render the results Since I only want to traverse the tree (not render it), am I correct in presuming dtml-tree isn't my friend in this case and I'll need to work in straight Python instead? Thanks in advance. --Brad

total "hits" in dtml-in?
by A M Thomas 16 Jul '02

16 Jul '02

Hello, I've just put together my first Zope/MySQL database search interface. Gosh that's cool. However, I have a question. Obviously. How can I get the _total_ number of returned results for a <dtml-in> statement (not the number in the current batch)? This is probably so obvious that it's staring me in the face, but I can't find it anywhere. I even tried (quickly) perusing some source code, but maybe I was looking in the wrong place. My main reference has been the Zope book, another Zope book, and searching the web site. I know about the cool dtml-in variables like previous-sequence-start-index, next-sequence-size, etc., but I want to be able to state on my results form "records 21-40 of X shown" - how do I gracefully get X? I know I could do a len() of the query, but that seems like a bad idea because the database would essentially get queried twice - once to get the len, and once to create the <dtml-in> list. Right? Am I missing something? Of course I am. Any help would be much appreciated. Yours, Am

Getting all images in the ZODB 'out' into Apache-land?
by Tony McDonald 16 Jul '02

16 Jul '02

Hi all, Hopefully the subject gives you the gist. I have a really good group of guys here who have been squirreling away images into the ZODB. Many images. Sometimes big images. All over the ZODB. I wish to save them from themselves and have these images made available via Apache :) Can anyone give me a clue how I might do this? The images are all over the place - I'd like to extract them into an external directory structure that I'll plop into Apache. They can then use a judicious combination of the Replace product (great product!) and old fashioned sweat to get the img src="" stuff sorted out.
