move contents?
by Stephan Herschel 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

Hi, When exporting from one Zope and importing to another, what problems can arise? Is importing/exporting restricted to zope-installations of the same version, or can objects be moved say from version 2.4.0 to 2.5.0? What other possibilities are there to move contents from one zope-server to another? Thanks for any answers! regards, Stephan

checking the clipboard
by davis marques 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

I'd like to have the Paste button show up when there are contents on the clipboard to paste (just like in the ZMI). I presume this bit of functionality has to be performed with a Python script. I'm wondering if someone could give me a clue as to how one can check to see if the clipboard has anything on it. thanks D _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

No mod_proxy, can I still use Zope behind Apache?
by felix＠chaptereight.com 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

I would like to get Zope pages served transparently from a mainly Apache-based site - all I have access to are .htaccess files, so I've created a ~/public_html/zope directory and tried to put a RewriteRule entry in a .htaccess file there to send things to zope at port 8080. But I don't know exactly how to construct the rewrite rules and the Apache examples on zope.org seem to require mod_proxy as well as mod_rewrite. Sadly, only mod_rewrite is available on the server. I did also try to use the PCGI script, but with no success. Any help would be appreciated. Felix.

Page templates on the filesystem
by Hedley Roos 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

Hi I am fairly new to Zope (~1week). Is there a way to store page templates on the filesystem? I already know how to accomplish this with DTML, but not with PT. Any help appreciated. problem with NeoBoard and breadcrumbs
by Aseem Mohanty 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

Hi, I call the following method in my standard_html_header and it works fine everywhere except in the NeoBoard page: (simple breadcrumbs) <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('rev', [])"> <dtml-in PARENTS skip_unauthorized> <dtml-call "rev.insert(0, _['sequence-item'])"> </dtml-in> <dtml-in rev> <a href="<dtml-var "_['sequence-item'].absolute_url()">" class="nav_link"> <dtml-var title_or_id> </a> <dtml-unless sequence-end>:</dtml-unless> </dtml-in> I get an infinite recursion error when I try to view any NeoBoard page. Does anybody know why this crops up?? I cant figure out what is there in NeoB that might cause this error as it does not happen anywhere else. Also if I comment out the abovementioned code and put in just <dtml-var "_.len(PARENTS)"> the NeoBoard page shows the right number of parents in my case (4). So why do I get a infinite recursion error when there are a finite number of parents?? RFC: ZMI Bookmarks
by Evan Simpson 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

Just the other day, I hacked up an implementation of transient ZMI bookmarks. It puts an icon next to an object's breadcrumb path that stuffs the path into a session variable, then uses javascript to reload the menu pane. If there are any bookmarks in the session variable, they are listed below the folder tree in the menu pane as links to manage_workspace of that path. So, you click on the little add-a-bookmark icon and a bookmark appears under the folder tree. I showed it to my designer/wife, and she loved it. Then I explained that the bookmarks are kept in a session, so they go *poof* when you restart Zope or your browser. She said "so, make them permanent". Easier said than done, of course. As soon as I started down that path, I got analysis paralysis thinking about bookmark sets, user properties, special bookmark containers, etc, etc. Now, I'm hoping that someone on the list has a clever idea for making these bookmarks persist, in a usefully Zopish way, that doesn't involve dragging in whole other frameworks (i.e. a third-party User Folder implementation). Any thoughts? Cheers, Evan @ 4-am

Vitrual Host Monster Problem - More Info
by James Bragg 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

More Information, I posted yesterday about a problem I was having with the Virtual Host Monster. Sometimes when I access the management screen the Mappings tab is not visible. Apparently, you cannot access the "Mappings" tab from a remote computer accross the internet. However, the Mappings tab displays when you are on the server or accessing the management screen from a computer that is on your local network. Is this by design, or are there security settings that I can set to allow me to access the Mappings tab from a remote PC? There are no visible security settings on the VHM. Thanks in advance for your responses. Regards, -james James Bragg

PropertyManager Support
by Dan Shafer 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

The only thing I can find in the docs about PropertyManager and where it is supported is this somewhat unhelpful sentence. "Certain Zope objects support the ability to maintain a set of arbitrary properties." What are those objects? Where is this documented? How would anyone find this out without asking this list? I can't find anyplace that the Zope docs define which interfaces are supported by which objects, but it's a big ocean out there so maybe I missed a key island. manage_renameObject
by Bjørge Solli 17 Jul '02

17 Jul '02

Hello, hope someone here can help me, this should be possible, but I cant find the solution. I want to let ppl in one role change the names of files in some catalogs. They also need to change Properties of the files. I am considering giving them control of the Zope manage system on the files, but that should mainly be for advanced users, so I would prefer making the interface myself. I have tried with the python code below, but with no luck. I get an access error. How can I do this and witch security permissions must the role have? I don't fully understand what I(or more accurate, another admin) have tried to do below, so an explanation of that would be great too! Please include newbie explanations;-) <python parameter-list:oldid,newid,tittel,contents> #context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_addFile(newid,file=contents,title=tittel) #context.manage_addProduct['OFSP'].manage_delObjects(oldid) context.manage_renameObject(oldlid, newid, REQUEST) print 'DOESN'T WORK!!!!!' return printed </python> regards Bjorge Solli -- http://www.lstud.ii.uib.no/~s0182/smile/Smiles -- Bjørge Solli - Universitas Bergensis, Norway mailto:Bjorge@Kvarteret.no icq#29210281 MSN:bobelloco@hotmail.com Møllendalsv.19, 5009 Bergen, Norway tel:55202853/91614343

RE: [Zope] Photo enhancement
by Meilicke, Scott 17 Jul '02

Windows users can use imagemagick (www.imagemagick.org) - fifth paragraph down on the home page. Scott -----Original Message----- From: Gary Speer [mailto:gspeer@cortech.org] Sent: Wednesday, July 17, 2002 9:33 AM To: rbickers-expires-1027451877.b8cf29(a)logicetc.com Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Photo enhancement Hi Ron - Did you happen to follow the thread in image-SIG about how to make Photo use the new Antialias filter in PIL 1.1.3? I know you prefer Imagemagik, but for us poor windoze folks that don't have a unix emulator, we are stuck with PIL. Anyway, Fredrick suggested adding the Antialias filter to the resize function in photo.py. I did and it works great. All of the generated images look 200% better! <-- snip --> The information contained in this email message may be privileged and is confidential information intended only for the use of the recipient or any employee or agent responsible for delivering it to the intended recipient.
