Hi all, Does anyone know how to determine the disk space usage for all the Zope objects in a particular folder (and in its subfolders, etc.)? I'd like an easy way to find out / let my virtual hosting clients know how much disk space they're using. Obviously, I could recursively add up the sizes of all the images within a folder and its subfolders, and I could go a step further and add up the lengths of any text contents in contained DTML documents and methods, then property values ... then the names of custom properties ... but it just seems like there should be a better way. I don't remember coming across anything like this, though. I tried searches on the Zope site and the Zope cookbook site (as well as this list's archives), but as you know, it's hard finding something when you don't know what it's called... I sent this question to the iMeme users' list and got two pretty good suggestions: 1) Use a product called QuotaFolder, which, based on what I've read about it, adds a get_size() method to various Zope base classes, then calls that method on all objects contained in a folder. This is pretty good (thank you for creating, ivo), but it admittedly doesn't take into account revisions, properties, etc. Also, it makes me wonder whether there's already a more thorough equivalent to "get_size()" already in Zope, that I could call. There should be, shouldn't there? The final worry is that it might be difficult to integrate with my existing product, but this may not be an issue now that I think of it - I'll have to try it to find out. Anybody care to report experience with QuotaFolder? 2) Export the folder, then look at the size of the resulting file. This is something I might actually try (since I'm thinking of automatically backing up my virtual domains this way anyway), but it seems that there should still be a better way. So, how about it, zopistas? Is there a nice, clean way to find the amount of storage space consumed by all the objects within a particular folder? Is there a method to get the total storage used by any ObjectManagerItem-derived object? If not, is something in the works? Many thanks, AM Thanks, AM

Best Python Method to Rename Object

Can someone tell me what the best method to use for renaming an object in both python script and python? Would you use "manage_renameObject" or is can I just do object.id = new_id? Thanks, Chris Bruce

Making __getattr__ accessible

Hi, I have an External Method that returns an instance of a class that implements its own __getattr__ method, but Python scripts inside Zope can't seem to access it (I get an 'Unauthorized' exception). I've tried adding a ClassSecurityInfo instance to declare __getattr__ public, and I've also tried deriving the class from Acquisition.Implicit, but Zope still doesn't like it. Any ideas? I believe that Zopre 2.5.1 requiress Python 2.1.3. The pre-integrated version has some signicant advantages in terms of preventing conflicts.

NeoBoard - Stupid Newbie Questions

Hi All, We're currently evaluating Wankyu Choi's NeoBoard product, and are having a few problems finding our way around. The product looks /extremely/ polished, and appears to have the functionality we require, but there seems to be no documentation beyond a quick HowTo on installation. When you install the product, you are prompted for user IDs for board managers - however, there are no ACLs created in the NeoBoard folder, as far as I can see. Should the board managers be in synch with users created in the normal way? When the NeoBoard product is highlighted in the LH "Tree" pane of the Zope UI, the product appears in the RH "Body" pane of the Zope UI (at /blah/blah/manage_main) - but there is no sign of the standard Zope functionality, and no insight into what goes on "inside" NeoBoard. Am I seeing what I am supposed to see here? The functionality seen in the Management UI (at /blah/blah/manage_main) /seems/ to be "end user" as opposed to "administrator" functionality - am I wrong about this? If so, where /is/ the "end user" view (which I would expect to find at /blah/blah/ - implied index_html)? If not, where /is/ the management UI? And is it controlled by Zope ACLs, or it's own mechanism...or is the user expected to have /already/ authenticated with Zope at this point? As you will have gathered, I am far from having found my bearings with this product! N.B. I have posed this question here - as opposed to on the author's bulletin boards - in order to expose the dialogue to the Zope community. Since this is a new product, I am hoping that others are exploring it right now, as we are... Regards, PhilK

manage_changeProperties

I am not sure if this detailed questions are welcome here, so plz let me know if I should use another list or something.. I get this Type Error: sequence index must be integer when I execute this code: context.manage_changeProperties(id,title=tittel) I guess I'm doing something wrong. All help is apreciated. Hi, I've only done this in DTML, rather than Python scripts.
