RE: [Zope] ZMySQLDA Help

Install gcc? What system are you running on? You need to install two things -- the python adaptor for MySQL and the zope adaptor. In a linux environment I just followed the instructions at Zope.org and everything came up neatly. With other environments, YMMV. I use MySQL-python-0.9.1. and ZMySQLDA-2.0.8 both distributed as tarballs. You do have to compile some C code--hence the need for gcc. Look at the setup.py programs to set configuration stuff. >I just tried and I still can't seem to get it to work it gives me the following >message when I run python2.1 setup.py build: > >error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 > >Anything else I need to do? > >Quoting Dennis Allison <allison(a)sumeru.stanford.EDU>: > >> You need to install it in the Zope version of python. Can't paste or rename some objects
by Chad Nantais 09 Jul '02

09 Jul '02

When I try to rename or paste a folder object, I get this error: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: The id "Pictures" is invalid--it is already in use. Here's the folder structure / Cactus (Folder) AloeVera (CustomPlantProduct) Pictures (PhotoFolder) pic1.gif (Photo) pic2.gif (Photo) Tags (PhotoFolder) tag1.gif (Photo) tag2.gif (Photo) I am trying to either rename Cactus folder to CactusOld or (preferably) copy/paste it to another folder in the site. There are no conflicting Id's named 'Pictures' in my root folder. -- -- Chad Nantais Rednaxel Interactive cnantais(a)rednaxel.com

Object permissions in External Methods
by J. Joy 09 Jul '02

09 Jul '02

I'm not quite sure how to do this, and the documentation that I have been browsing through hasn't been all that helpful, so I hope someone out here can help me with this seemingly simple situation. I want to read an XML file (currently read as a textfile, but will be passed as a parameter) and then change it into a Python Object where one can then dtml-in through the Heirarchy of the Document... this is what I have... -- import gnosis.xml.objectify as xp from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo from Acquisition import Implicit import Globals def xml_to_py(self): object = xp.XML_Objectify('/tmp/sample.xml') returning = object._PyObject return (returning) -- Whenever I run this, I keep getting an unauthorized error with no acceptable login correcting this. I've run into this before, but it was only fixed when I redefined an object that I have created before, not something that is pushed out from a library like this. Suggestions? Re: [ZODB-Dev] zope xron and multithreading

Could you start it by loading an URL instead, using "wget" or "curl"? Xron is a limited product that only allows one thread, but Zope allows several. On the other hand, do you need Zope? Maybe you'd be better off with just StandaloneZODB. Shane

I've moved this discussion from zodb-dev to zope(a)zope.org. What kind of server is PyServer? Is it an HTTP server? Is it an external method? Should it be? It's hard to answer the question without understanding what you're trying to do. RE: [Zope] unexpected hangs and how to troubleshoot

I can't help with your problem, but I can point you to a great list archive... http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=zope They've got a ton of other lists archived as well here: http://marc.theaimsgroup.com > -----Original Message----- > From: Ed Colmar [mailto:ed@greengraphics.net] > Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2002 5:56 AM > To: zope(a)zope.org > Subject: [Zope] unexpected hangs and how to troubleshoot <snip/> > Are there any resources for troubleshooting this kind of > problem? CMF puzzlement
by P Kirk 09 Jul '02

09 Jul '02

Hi all, Just trying Zope and CMF for first time and finding it very hard. My URL is http://pkirk.net.dhis.org/captain and I have the default CMF installed. I can register. But if the new user changes skins, they can no longer clich on the 'Home" link. If they change back, it works again. Anyone know if this is a bug or am I setting up something wrong? Patrick

Re: [Zope] Newbie: Ownership confusion
by Rebecca.R.Hepper＠seagate.com 09 Jul '02

When I log into my portal and go to the page with the snippet of code shown below, I only see the folders owned by 'admin'. All other folders are missing. I do not see an unauthorized exception. When I say "description field", this is what I mean. If I log into the portal and go to 'Folder Contents' then click the 'New' button and add a 'Folder', I get prompted for an ID and a description. This is the description field I am interested in automatically putting data into. I can enter data into the description field of the current folder using context.setDescription("My description goes here"). Now, I guess I just need to find a way to use that on folders other than the current one. Thanks! Am I doing something goofy with my > permissions? What precisely happens, when it is not displayed? * do you see all folders owned by "admin" and the others are missing? This seems unbelievable, given the code above. * do you see nothing but get an "Unauthorized" exception (browser login screen). This would indicate a permission problem. It probably is caused by the attempt to access something non-public outside of "myportal". > Also, is there a way to add a string to the description field of a folder? You do not tell us, what the "description field" is. I expect, it is a property. In this case, you use "manage_changeProperties" to change its value (documented in: embedded Zope Online help -> Zope Help -> API Documentation -> PropertyManager). Dieter

Re: [Zope-dev] creating threads in Zope

Changed "CC:" to "zope(a)zope.org" which is more appropriate for this kind of questions. =?iso-8859-1?Q?Juliette_Colmant?= writes: > I have some python scripts I want to use in Zope. > Some of them are blocking, so I was thinking about > creating some threads into Zope to use my python > scripts. The "ExtProc" product may help you. > Does somebody knows if it is possible and how? >From what you say in another message, your type of blocking seems not to be cured with a separate thread. When executing your method via Xron blocks your Zope system, it will do so even, when executed in its own thread. You need a separate process. Dieter

comparing dates
by Alejandro Fernandez 09 Jul '02

Is there a builtin way to compare dates in zope? Or do I have to do drawn out comparisons like this?: if DateTime(item).greaterThan(DateTime(old)): return old else: return item Thanks, Ale -- Alejandro Fernandez Electronic Group Interactive --+34-65-232-8086--
