Newbie: Ownership confusion

Hello All, Here is what my directory structure looks like: Root Folder - acl_users (contains the following users: admin (has manager role)) - myportal - acl_users (contains the following users: manager (manager role), owner(owner role), member(member role)) - topfolder -- folderA -- lots of subfolders -- folderB --my scripts/forms/html documents etc While being logged into the management screens as admin, I have created a form in root/myportal/topfolder/folderB that will loop through each subfolder in folderA and create a radio button for it. (see example code below) <table tal:define="myhere root/myportal/topfolder/folderA"> <tr valign="top" align="left" tal:repeat="folders python:myhere.objectValues('Folder')"> <td><input type="radio" name="release" value="folders" tal:attributes ="value folders/title"></td> </tr> I run into problems depending on who owns the subfolders in folderA. If admin created the folderA/subfolder, the form will display a radio button for the folder. If anyone else (i.e. manager, owner, member) creates the subfolder, it will not be displayed. Am I doing something goofy with my permissions? Also, is there a way to add a string to the description field of a folder? Any advice or pointers to relevant documentation would greatly be appreciated!! Thanks!

This code presents properties that are defined for each photo. For example, I keep original copies of my photos, and add a 'Disc' property, to tell me what CD the original file is located on. Photo Folder 'view'

I've been playing around with the index_html and view files that came with the Photo Folder Product but I do not see the use for the next piece of code found at the bottom of the 'view' file. I deleted the code and nothing changed when viewing the photos. What does this code do? Zope on Solaris 8?

Hi Why don't you get the source distribution and recompile Zope? It's so easy! Just do a "python wo_pcgi.py" or "python w_pcgi.py" depending on whether you need PCGI. If you need to intall Python aswell there are a few more lines you'll have to write but it basically is no real problem. If you need that please drop me a mail and I'll write them together and mail them to you. regards oliver

Zope on Solaris 8?

My Zope instance won't run, when I issue start, I see it's creating a pid file, and then when I look in a process file, I don't see anything from Zope, and the pid isn't appearing in my process list. So, no logging and I don't have any info here. I saw the download was for Solaris 2.6, this means it's not usable for Solaris 8? Does someone has Zope running on Solaris 8 then? dtml-in over python script

I have a SQL query that I need to wrap in a Python script. Fine and dandy. I'd like the results of the python call to be accessable with dtml-in but with custom field/attribute names. I other words, I want to be able to do this: --- dtml --- <dtml-in MyPythonScript> <dtml-var favorite_food> <dtml-var favorite_color> </dtml-in> And this: --- MyPythonScript --- rawresults = context.query_favorites() results = [] for rawitem in rawresults: food, color = results[0].bigfield.split(',') results.append(???) return results ---- What would I place in the ??? field? I've tried: A dictionary ("{'favorite_food':food, 'favorite_color':color}"). An object (placing a small class in the script. Fails to create the object.) I've also tried adding my attributes to the existing result objects but that also fails. Suggestions? This seems like it should be pretty easy.

Problem with BTreefolder, dictionaries and refresh/restart

Hello all, I have a strange Problem with a little python product I have written. It inherits from BTreeFolder and has an additional Attribute 'test' which is of the type dictionary. When I create a new instance of this Product, I can add a new key:value pair to the dictionary test. -> {'a':'1'} If I restart the server now or refresh my product, this dictionary entry still exists. But if I add a new key:value pair to test (or two, or three) and restart the server or refresh my product, all new entrys are gone. Only the first entry {'a':'1'} persits. If I try to change the first entry and restart or refresh, the changes to the first entry are gone too. 'test' seems to be static after the initial write access. Can anybody help me?
