Hi eric thanks for your answers, but I am encountering problem in understanding it...(forgive me but I'm really new to zope..) this is your code: <dtml-with expr="CMF"> <dtml-var cmf_news> </dtml-with> I don't understand if CMF stands for the name of my cmf_site or for the path to my folder/object and in this case what is the object? DTML Doc : publishing problem

Hi all, I have the following function: user_login__roles__ = None def user_login (Self, REQUEST, RESPONSE, username, password): # Create authorization variable login_goto_path = "/members" login_failure = "/failed" ac = encodestring('%s:%s' % (username, password)) auth = 'Basic %s' % ac user = Self.validate(REQUEST, auth) if user: return RESPONSE.redirect(login_goto_path) else: return RESPONSE.redirect(login_failure) and when I call it in a form in a DTML document this is the error I get: Debugging Notice Zope has encountered a problem publishing your object. The object at http://kandinsky:8080/test_folder/acl_users/user_login has an empty or missing docstring. Objects must have a docstring to be published. I worked through several chapters of Alan Gauld's 'Learn to Program Using Python' with my 15 year old son until we both got stuck. Thanks for the suggestion about Guido's tutorial we will try that and see how we go. Many people on this list have said that DTML is not about to go away. I realise this but I have only a limited amount of free time to learn new things and would much rather put effort into something that gives a long term benefit so thanks for the suggestion. Subclassing OrderedFolder

Ok, so it says in the OrderedFolder blurb that it should be easy to set it as a base class for other folderish objects. I can't seem to make it work. From what I can tell, it seems to be getting hung up on the NoBabelTag stuff and shows the error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: 'None' object has no attribute 'blocks' when I try to bring up the management screen. Does anyone have an example of using OrderedFolder as a base class? Catching Unauthorized

Chris has been vocal and a major influence in my decision to learn how to do Python products and use Python classes exclusively. But, boy, the learning curve looks fairly steep. Tutorial glitch report

While going through the tutorial (Zope 2.5.1 linux), I encountered no conspicuous problems until I got to lesson 8. In lesson 8, I altered the photoAction document as specified in the instructions, by adding ", title=photo_title" after "file=file" (and saving the changes). Then I attempted to view the document by clicking the View tab, whereupon Zope returned an error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'file' is not defined I took a guess at the problem, added double quotes around the "file" after "file=", saved the changes and tried again to view it; the same error was returned; I changed the double quotes to single and voila! a new error was returned: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'photo_title' is not defined Okay, I saved a step this time by going straight to single quotes around "photo_title", saved the changes, clicked the View tab, whereupon a new error was returned: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: Empty or invalid id specified. This time my guess worked the first time: I put something between the (formerly empty) single quotes after "id=", clicked View, and got the expected result. Is this the right place for this kind of report? Steer me to the right place if not. Eric

The best guide to creating Python Products that I have seen is in the fairly new book Zope Bible. Last time I looked, Amazon had it marked down from $50 to $35. Regarding ZClasses -- I did a moderately big project (email newsletters) in Zclasses, and now I'm rewriting it as a Product. Wish I had just done a Product from the beginning. A fairly strong case against ZClasses was made on this list last week, in the posting "ZClasses Must Die". The wonderful thing about Python Products is that they are Python. Win32 binary corrupt?

Three times I downloaded and attempted to install this release: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.5.1/Zope-2.5.1-win32-x86.exe/view and everytime I got a message stating that the file is corrupt. It would be nice to have a md5sum along with the downloads to check integrity upon reception.
