Win32 binary corrupt?
by Steve Stuart 04 Jun '02

04 Jun '02

Three times I downloaded and attempted to install this release: http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/2.5.1/Zope-2.5.1-win32-x86.exe/view and everytime I got a message stating that the file is corrupt. It would be nice to have a md5sum along with the downloads to check integrity upon reception. I'll try again tomorrow. -- Steve Stuart Applied Imagintion, Inc 128 W Wooster St Bowling Green, OH 43402 Tel: (419)352-8373 Fax: (419)353-0285

not elegant
by Bill Kerr 04 Jun '02

still getting my head around the namespace issue, use of dtml-with etc. need to sit down and have a quiet read of a couple of book etc. in the meantime a friend has successfully hacked this solution to my problem of automatically setting up a bunch of users with these requirements: 1. users have viewCopy rights (I wish, seems impossible to implement that aspect because, View Management Right, allows cut, it's not meant to but it does!! ) in parent folder 2. users have child folder setup in their name 3. users have local role management rights in their personal folders the code below achieves all this but is not elegant in the name of elegance, anyone out there want to improve it? -- Bill Kerr this (below) works but it require you set up <dtml-in expr="['user1','user2','xxx']"> and further down in the program dtml-in expr="[user1,user2,xxx]"> {without the quotes} far from perfect solution but ive tried everything possible ?? ------------------------------------------------------------------ <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <dtml-in expr="['user1','user2','xxx']"> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('roles',['viewCopy'])"> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('name',_['sequence-item'])"> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('password','change')"> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('confirm','change')"> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('domains',[])"> <dtml-call expr="acl_users.manage_users('Add',REQUEST,RESPONSE)"> <dtml-try> <dtml-call expr="manage_addFolder(_['sequence-item'],'')"> <dtml-except> </dtml-try> The user <dtml-var "_['sequence-item']"> has been added. </dtml-in> <dtml-in expr="[user1,user2,xxx]"> <dtml-with sequence-item> <dtml-call expr="manage_addLocalRoles(id,['Manager'])"> </dtml-with> </dtml-in> <dtml-var standard_html_footer>

Cannot determine exception cause
by Doug Chamberlin 04 Jun '02

04 Jun '02

Please help a fledgling Zope user who is trying to build his first Zope site! I have a database in which there is a table of "activity groups" which can be obtained from the selectActivityGroups ZSQL. This works fine. The document which produces this page is ListGroups. From ListGroups I can click the Edit button to get toe the EditAGroup page. This also works fine and the selected record's values are transferred correctly. When I click the Save button, the UpdateAGroup document is accessed which, in turn, accesses the UpdateGroup ZSQL. When this is done an error occurs which causes the exception to be raised in UpdateAGroup. 1. How can I detect further what the cause of the exception is? 2. Why does the error message come out "Error while saving group _['dbid']" instead of translating the dbid value? Document ListGroups: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <p> <table width="100%" border=2> <tr> <th>Activity Groups</th> </tr> <dtml-in "selectActivityGroups()"> <tr> <td><dtml-var shortname></td> <td><dtml-var longname></td> <td><dtml-var description></td> <td><form> <input type="submit" name="EditAGroup:method" value="Edit"></td> <input type=hidden name="dbid" value="<dtml-var dbid>"> <input type=hidden name="shortname" value="<dtml-var shortname>"> <input type=hidden name="longname" value="<dtml-var longname>"> <input type=hidden name="description" value="<dtml-var description>"> </form> </td> </tr> </dtml-in> </table> </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Document EditAGroup: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <p> <form action="." method=post> <input type=hidden name="dbid" value="<dtml-var dbid>"> <input type=hidden name="shortname" value="<dtml-var shortname>"> <input type=hidden name="longname" value="<dtml-var longname>"> <input type=hidden name="description" value="<dtml-var description>"> <table width="100%"> <tr> <td><b>ID: </b></td> <td><dtml-var dbid></td> </tr> <tr> <td><b>Short Name: </b></td> <td><input type="text" name="newshortname" value="<dtml-var shortname>" size=32></td> </tr> <tr> <td><b>Long Name: </b></td> <td><input type="text" name="newlongname" value="<dtml-var longname>" size=64></td> </tr> <tr> <td><b>Description: </b></td> <td><input type="text" name="newdescription" value="<dtml-var description>" size=100></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan=2><input type="submit" name="UpdateAGroup:method" value="Save"></td> <td colspan=2><input type="submit" name="ListGroups:method" value="Cancel"></td> </tr> </table> </form> </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Document UpdateAGroup: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-try> <p>_['dbid']</p> <dtml-call "UpdateGroup(dbid=_['dbid'], NewShortName=_['newshortname'], NewLongName=_['newlongname'], NewDescription=_['newdescription'])"> Group has been successfully updated! <form action="ListGroups" method=post> <input type="submit" value="OK"> </form> <dtml-except> Error while saving group _['dbid']. *Simple* Zope product to implement a collaborative Web site
by Stephane Bortzmeyer 04 Jun '02

04 Jun '02

I'm looking for a *simple* Zope (Zope is not really mandatory but I like it and this is a Zope list after all) product to implement a collaborative Web site. A sort of poor man's Web Content Management system. Here are my main requirments: 1) Ability for the registered users to add easily any type of files (.pdf, .dvi, .txt and even .html). 2) Shrink-wrapped software, I don't have the time right now to develop a custom application. 3) (If possible.) History of changes, deletions, etc. I considered Portal For All <URL:http://www.zope.org/Members/dgeorgieff/popoto> which seems fine and CMF which seems overkill. Any suggestion?

Subclassing Folder
by Dan Shafer 04 Jun '02

04 Jun '02

I want to create a new type of folder that, when created, brings some specific properties and contents along with it. I presume I will want to use a ZClass for this, but given all the warnings I've received about their relative fragility, I wanted to check with the list to be sure I'm not either overlooking a better solution or acting in ignorance of a packaged solution.

Additional to Message 91060: Yes, I have inserted a blank line. Here is the source code of the DTML Method (SimpleExample.jnlp): Content-Type: application/x-java-jnlp-file <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <jnlp codebase=http://localhost/ href="SimpleExample.jnlp"> <information> <title>Swing Application - Hello World</title> <vendor>Rags</vendor> <description>Swing Application - Hello World</description> <description kind="short">Swing Application - Hello World</description> <offline-allowed/> </information> <resources> <j2se version="1.3"/> <jar href="SimpleExample.jar"/> </resources> <application-desc main-class="SimpleExample"/> </jnlp> The SimpleExample.html links to SimpleExample.jnlp and the third file in the Zope folder is SimpleExample.jar. What happens: Java Web Start is loaded correctly and than I get a download error when it tries to access the recource "http://localhost/SimpleExample.jnlp", the server returns wrong MIME type text/html. Could you help me? Thanks. Chris

ZOracleDA(dco2)/Win2K - doesn't work from service
by vsbabu＠vsbabu.org 04 Jun '02

04 Jun '02

Hello, I've a setup: Zope 2.5.0 with INSTANCE_HOME Windows 2000 server Oracle 8i 8.1.7 client ZOracleDA (dcoracle2) 1.1 When I run Zope from command line, everything is fine. When it is run as a service, the product doesn't give any error. But when you try to open a ZOracleDA connection, it raises an error in connect.py. The same DB connection works flawlessly when Zope is started using the batch file. I've - cross checked the parameters in the registry and batch file. Same. - Recompiled ZOracleDA binary - Moved ZOracleDA from INSTANCE_HOME/Products to lib/python/Products and back Our sysadmin would like to run Zope as a service. I'm at my wits end with this now! Any hints/suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance - vsbabu

Fwd: Help with Ldap Setup
by Sidnei da Silva 04 Jun '02

04 Jun '02

Howdy people. After a week of hard work, now i can have some time for NZO again. Today, I tried to get ldap membership working, but no clue yet. Well, almost. I have a LDAP Server working, zopeOrg Schema installed in place and tried to import zope_org.ldif. It gave me just one error, seems like it couldnt import ou=cvsaccess. I've lost the message. Attached there is a slapcat of my database. Then i modified the External Method setupZopeOrgMembership to fit my setup and ran it. It just failed in the step where it sets up the skins. i commented this part out and then it worked. But now i have a problem that i couldnt figure out how to fix: On the LDAP User Folder, in the Groups tab i have the following message: ###Error###: Cannot find (|(uniquemember=*)(member=*)) ... And if i try to add a group: An Error occurred: Error Type: No such object Server Message: parent does not exist (2002-05-27 17:34) Seems to be something simple, but all this ldap thing is a little beyond my understanding. I tried to use LDAP User Folder for 6 times until today, and just got it to work once, so, if anyone knows how to fix this (maybe Jens) i would be glad if you can help me.
