ZSQL Method's Precision

Hi: In a PostgreSQL DB I have a Numeric data type with a precision of two decimal places. If I have 1.33 in as the result from my query, it's everything is good. However, if I have 1.30 it reduces the precision to one decimal place and I get 1.3. Not so good when dealing with currency ( I don't want to use the money data dype ). reading text file object

I made a template that changes the location name and content due to the information stored in the title property variable and the file content of a "File" object. I used the dtml tag <dtml-var title> to call the "title" information but I don't know of any dtml tag that would call the content other than calling the "id" of the File object. ex. File object "test" Call method "<dtml-var test>" Could anyone help out. Is there any other ways to call the content of the text "File" object?

Representation for Zope at PyCon 2007

PyCon 2007 will be held in Addison (Dallas) from Feb 23 to 25, and we're fast approaching the talk submission deadline of Oct 31. I'd like to encourage talks about Zope, particularly "how to get started with Zope" and also the new technologies coming out of Zope 3. Information on both of those topics has been in very short supply at PyCons. We're also approaching the deadline, Nov 15, for half-day tutorials taught on Feb 22. Attendees register separately for these and teachers can earn up to $1500 per half-day, depending upon the number of students. The tutorial format would be ideal for getting someone up to speed on either Zope 2 or Zope 3. Teach a basic intro in the morning and advanced material in the afternoon. And if you're nervous about such a commitment, tutorials are a great opportunity to partner with another teacher or class helper. As a longtime advocate of Zope (both 2 and 3) I'd very much like to see extensive coverage this year of getting started with Zope 3. Zope has a PR problem, partly from the immense power that comes with it, and the difficulty in getting your arms around it all. It evokes strong feelings and has a distinct philosophy and design tradeoff that you have to understand before you're productive. And with the recent formation of the Zope Foundation, putting forth your best image and getting new members into the community should be a priority. PyCon is a significant opportunity for the Zope community to evangelize. In the PyCon's I've attended one challenge is breaking Zope down into teaching chunks that can be taught in 30-40 minutes. It is very easy to leave the audience behind in the buzzwords and concepts of Zope. So please don't try to teach all of Zope + Plone in 30 minutes. ;-) ;-) One possible talk I think would fit, would help someone just getting into Zope 3 and I wish someone would tackle is the Zope 3 component architecture - nothing about the web or databases or security. Start with the abstract concept of interfaces and adapters, as exists in the zope/interface package, and then layer on it the idea of registries, as implemented in the zope/component package. And wrap up with the reasons why interfaces are better than abstract base classes and what kind of problems adapters are good at solving, including some _non-abstract_ examples. zwiki users - own color text?

hi all I've had a search thro the mailing list, but can't find out how to set up zwiki so that each user's contribution to a wiki automatically shows up in a particular color, or failing that how the user themselves can change the color of their contribution... i have access to a server running zope (but i can't change or install anything on that server), and can add users etc to the zwiki available on there. any ideas appreciated thanks roy -- Search for products and services at: http://search.mail.com

REQUEST Variables and Caching

Can anyone here give me a quick explanation of how the 'REQUEST variables' field works in the RAM Cache Manager properties? I've looked and all I can find is: ---------------------------------------- This information is used to store the cached copy of a page. This is an advanced feature, for now, you can leave this set to just "AUTHENTICATED_USER". ---------------------------------------- I'm trying to ensure that the cache manager only caches things for users who are NOT logged in.

not allowed to access a particular tuple

This is an external method I wrote to make it easier to iterate over the records returned from searching the catalog. However if I have yield record,item instead of yield item it says that I am not allowed to access a particular tuple during iteration. How can I make it so that the value that it yields is something that a python script object can iterate over? I have also tried doing yield tuple((record,item)) yield list(record,item) and they give the same problem. How I use the script is pretty much for record, doc in catalogIter(context.Catalog(searchterms)): print record print doc Of course what is inside is different from that but it will cause the same problem since the issue happens in the iteration not inside the for loop. import zExceptions def catalogIter(records): "iterate over a catalog safely" for record in records: try: item = record.getObject() if item is not None: yield item except (zExceptions.Unauthorized, zExceptions.NotFound, KeyError, AttributeError): pass

Resolving a url from a path in a virtual host environment

Hi guys, I'm having some trouble tying to get an object from a given path. I'm using virtual hosts, so according to Dieter's great documentation[1], REQUEST.resolve_url should do it. However no matter how creative I get making up urls, I always get a "Different namespace." ValueError. Looking at the source of resolve_url[2] I can see that it tries to ensure being at the same namespace (?) seeing if REQUEST.script is at the beginning of the passed url. So the actual problem is that this attribute always returns "http://127.0.0.1:8080" in my (2.9.4-final) Zope instance, quite independently from my requested url. So: should I be using some other method instead? (if so, I guess my reference is wrong or outdated). Which one? Do I need any special configuration to make REQUEST.script returns my virtual environment? Any additional suggestion?
