adding 'classes->products programmatically w/out the product existing in drop down list

In order to subdivide a large product, I would like to create a directory structure to hold hierarchial class files. Like: Animal ->Mammal ->Aquatic_Mammal ->Terrestrial_Mammal I would have a Animal class that would import: from Mammal import Mammal from Mammal.Aquatic_Mammal import Aquatic_Mammal and so forth. The method that would instantiate the Animal product would add the other products (i.e. Mammal, Aquatic_Mammal...) Each class would contain dtml, zsql methods and so forth and would be accessed via http://www.somesite.com/Animal/Mammal/Aquatic_Mammal/ I have seen this accomplished and I have tried about everything I know. I would not use registerClass because I only want Animal to show up in the 'add product' drop down box. Any direction appreciated. Installation problem: /manage You are not authorized to access this resource

Hello, I have just installed Zope, http://localhost/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi works, but http://localhost/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/manage does not let me in. Here's what I did: I Took a clean RedHat 7.2 install rpm -Uvh Zope-2.4.3-1.i386.rpm rpm -Uvh Zope-pcgi-2.4.3-1.i386.rpm /etc/rc.d/init.d/zope start cp /var/zope/Zope.cgi /var/www/cgi-bin cd /var/zope zpasswd access (Fill in user, passwd, SHA encryption) I searched the docs, the mailinglists, found various things (some things about mod_rewrite rules and mod_fcgi), but I *can* login so I guess most of it is working. My guess is I need to add something to the apache configuration to pass authentication headers to Zope. Correct? I tried: RewriteEngine on ReWriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} ^/(.*) RewriteRule ^/(.*) /var/www/cgi-bin/Zope.cgi/$1 [e=HTTP_CGI_AUTHORIZATION:%1,t=application/x-httpd-cgi,L] But that did not work. Can't edit ZPT through WebDAV or FTP when not a manager

Posted this a few days ago, but haven't received any ideas. Can anyone confirm that they *can* edit ZPTs with WebDAV/FTP as a non-manager with Zope 2.5? I'm willing to dig into the source if I can find get some input on how specific the problem is to versions, setup, etc. -- Synopsis: A highly-privileged non-manager user can edit all content types through WebDAV or FTP *except* PageTemplates. If user is changed to a manager, they can now edit PageTemplates through WebDAV/FTP. Demonstration/Walkthrough: 1) in folder "/foo", create local role "test" 2) in "/foo", give role "test" *all* permissions (in theory, this person would only need a few privileges; to remove any possibility that we're guessing the wrong privileges, select them all) 3) add user "bob" w/role=test 4) create a ZPT document "test.pt" in "/foo" 5) create a DTML DOcument "test.dtml" in "/foo" 5) see that bob can edit both documents using ZMI w/o problem. (therefore, it's not privileges per se that's causing the problem) 6) see that using WebDAV/FTP, bob can edit "test.dtml" (therefore, it's not WebDAV setup per se that's causing the problem) 7) see that using WebDAV/FTP, bob *cannot* edit "test.pt" (!) 8) add manager role to bob 9) now bob can edit "test.pt" through WebDAV/FTP (therefore, it's not simply ZPT+WebDAV that's causing the problem) Notes: I've tried FTP and 3 WebDAV clients (cadaver, WebDrive, Dreamweaver); all return an unauthorized message. This isn't a firewall, client, or locking problem: I can't do it from the server using cadaver; I've tried different client machines; using cadaver, I can't even GET the file (which makes no attempt to lock it.) WebDAV editing of ZPT is a critical feature for my clients. I can't give the editors "manager" role w/o opening huge security holes. Using cadaver w/debug settings, I can get detail on the requests and responses: the forbidden edit request (step #7 above) just re-requests authentication twice and fails. Happy to send the cadaver log to anyone who might find it helpful. Can anyone edit ZPT through WebDAV or FTP with non-managers? Programmatically adding LocalFS objects

I'm sure there's an easy fix for this one, but I sure can't find it. According to LocalFS' source, this should add a LocalFS to the ZODB: <dtml-call "manage_addLocalFS('name', 'title', 'basepath')"> It doesn't work. Here's the error: Error Type: NameError Error Value: global name 'manage_addLocalFS' is not defined I've searched the message boards and found users with the same problem, but no posted solutions. Need PyWinTypes15.dll PLEASE!

I installed LocalFS and now my Zope Webserver won't start at all. First it called for Python15.dll. I found this and put in into system32 but now it needs PyWinTypes15.dll. Slicing strings in ZPT

I want to slice a phone number inside of a page template. I am currently using the following syntax to define the area code portion so it can be used to prefil a text input box: <td align="left" valign="top" tal:define="area python:item.home_phone[:2]; pref python:item.home_phone[4:6]; suff python:item.home_phone[8:]"> I get the following template error.  I think it's because the colon in the slice directive is confusing tal. How do I get the slice functionality without breaking tal? Is there an escape sequence or something? Thx, Chad

zope startup script is failing (2.5.0 on rh linux 7.2)

Seeing a DTML-LET from a Python Script?

Hi all Quick question: if I do this: <dtml-let somevariable="'whatever'"> <dtml-var pythonScript> </dtml-let> how do I get at the value of somevariable in pythonScript? I'd assume by binding the namespace _ and doing _['something'] but that raises a key-error .. The nearest info I could find on this in a websearch is: http://www.zope-forum.org/forum/viewthread.php?FID=24&TID=519 but I couldn't quite figure that out ..
