A possible bug in AccessControl.User

Hi, There's a line(#629) in AccessControl.User, within method validate(), saying: if emergency and user is emergency:.... I find out that, when I log in as emgergency user, 'user is emergency' always fails, even though logically user = emergency = self._emergency_user! I furthor discover that it seems to happen to all extention classes, i.e.: a = b = SomeExtentionClass() a is b will return 0. Well, this's not really a bug, since everything works fine, but there must be something wrong. Either a bug in extention class, or that line in user.py is useless. I'd like to hear some explanation. Data.fs Recovering...

My zope doesn't starts and I believe that my Data.fs file is broken. I replied to seb, because his message summarizes the suggestions I've received. Thanks to all who responded, even if it was only commiseration. I'm looking at webdrive, but we have 500+ plus PCs in nine locations encompassing six countries and three US states, so I'm not sure that's really gonna fly.... Yes, seb, I did search the archives first, but your response prompted me to try again, and I have discovered that Zope 2.4+ includes a workaround for some of the M$-DAV problems. No one apparently noticed that I said I was still on Zope 2.3. I've done some preliminary tests with Zope 2.5 that are successful with Office 2K so far. It won't solve the Outlook problem, but I haven't seen any evidence yet that even SharePoint can do that, so I may be safe there. I do believe that DC or someone else should look at adding SMB to Zope. M$, especially Office, is the standard in the corporate world, and as long as someone with an impressive title but little technical knowledge can claim that Zope doesn't work with some facet of Office, no matter how obscure, they'll have an excuse to remove or refuse Zope. For anyone else reading and wondering about a solution - it looks like WebDrive and Zope 2.5 are the best ideas I've been given so far. Simple Example problem: ZooExhibit ZClass

I am trying to create a simple ZClass as per Chapter 12 of _The Zope Book_. I can create the ZClass, but I cannot add one to my folders. When I go to the root folder and select "Zoo Exhibit" from the "Select type to add..." list, it asks for the id. (So my auto-generated ZooExhibit_addForm DTML Method is working.) Portable way to get to OFS/dtml

Simple question for Python Product developers: Want to make sure that a properties management view in my product can't have properties added, only edited. Looked in OFS/PropertyManager.py and found the reference to property_extensible_schema__. Added to my product: manage_propertiesForm=DTMLFile('../../OFS/dtml/properties', globals(), property_extensible_schema__=0) Which works fine. Question is: what's the best way to handle getting to OFS/dtml rather than this ugly ugly breakable hack.
