How do you pass variables to DTML methods? I attempted to enclose in a dtml-let block but that had no effect.

(Forgot to post back to the list!) Hithere; When starting a new install on the couple Windows machines that I worked with, the first time to start often took a few minutes. I'm assuming that it is compiling all the associated Python modules (forgive me if my terminology isn't correct). At one point it took upwards of 5-10 minutes (for the initial start). Once Zope starts it should show you some additional information such as what port and address Zope will be running at. The screenshot looks very much like it is still working on starting up, to me. Hello! When I try the following: http://localhost:8080 http://127.0.0.1:8080 http://joplop-alpha:8080 the browswer says "page cannot be displayed." If the server is not started, how do I start it? I have already run the start.bat. I put a screenshot of what opens when i run it online: http://lunamanium.com/startbat.gif I don't see any port information on the start.bat command window, so my next question is, if it is started, how do I find out what port it is using? I am glad there is somewhere for me to ask these questions. Thank you very much. Jessica Robinson junkystuph(a)hotmail.com >From: "Lennart Regebro" <lennart(a)regebro.nu> >To: "J. do you have the developer tools installed? jens p.s.: PCGI is a really outmoded way of using zope. use simple apache proxying or rewrite rules instead. Big Downloads via Python Script
by Jens Fellenberg 19 Feb '02

19 Feb '02

Hi, I have the following problem. I want to manage Downloads trough a python script, that checks, if the user has permissions to download this file and then reads this file and returns it to Zope. But when I want to download files, that are bigger than 5 MB it tells me, that the file does not exist. Here's the part of the python script that reads the file. Name is the path to the desired file and the filename: def readfile(Name): if os.path.isdir(Name): return 0 if not os.path.exists(Name): return 0 f=open(Name, "rb") d = f.read() f.close() return d And that's the part of the zope DTML document: <dtml-let Download="here is the call for the python function that at first checks the users permissions and then reads the file"> <dtml-if "Download!=0"><dtml-call "RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Type', guessMimeType(_['Desire']))"><dtml-var Download><dtml-else> <dtml-var standard_html_header> <center> <font color="#FF0000">Sorry, no such File (<dtml-var "_['Desire']">) in <dtml-var "_['area']"> Area</font> <form name=dummy> <input type=button name=back value="back" onClick="document.location='DownloadArea'"> </form> </center> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> </dtml-if> </dtml-let> Hope you can help me. I have upgraded my Zope installation to 2.5.0 and am experiancing difficulties. I am dreading having to recreate my Zope site again! My only add-on products were Yihaw and etcUserFolder. shared data / synchronisation
by Horst Wald 19 Feb '02

19 Feb '02

Hi, a major problem I keep having is how to share data and still avoid conflicts in Zope. I'd like to have somethig like the static variables in C++ or Java. And if I am not mistaken, that is a serious Zope-weakness which causes the many many problems with connecting to databases. If anyone of you can tell me I'm wrong and why, I'd be happy. If not: any idea how to do it? If possible: a clean solution. I am just curious how should I transfer them to Zope? > >Are there any examples besides tutorial of zope based websites? Hi, I might have one for you. I have two java-classes named BlowFishEnc and BlowFishDec for encryption and decryption using the blowfish-algorithm. I found them much to complicated to be translated into Python. They both take two String-args: password and text and return the encoded and decoded text respectively as a String. So I wrote an external module called BlowFish.py which contains two external methods that call the java-classes: BlowFishEnc and BlowFishDec. Here is the code: ________________________________________________________________________ import os def BlowFishEnc(self,PassW,Text): return os.popen('java BlowFishEnc %s %s'%(PassW,Text)).read() def BlowFishDec(self,PassW,Text): return os.popen('java BlowFishDec %s %s'%(PassW,Text)).read() ________________________________________________________________________ Hope this helps Horst _________________________________________________________________ MSN Fotos ist der einfachste Weg, Ihre Fotos auszudrucken und anderen Benutzern zur Verfügung zu stellen: http://photos.msn.de/support/worldwide.aspx
