remote server web caching
by Ed Colmar 19 Feb '02

19 Feb '02

Hey all! I had an interesting idea, that I thought would be pretty easy to implement in zope. I'm bringing it up to see if anyone else had done something similar, or if anyone had any ideas on how to best achieve it. Say I have a zope server at www.myzopeserver.com, and I have configured it to receive a form where the content is an URL. Then the server goes out and loads this page, downloads all the images, then rewrites the image links so they point to the ones stored on myzopeserver.com/cache/ or something. Finally it displays the modified html, which should be indistinguishable from the "real" page. Any thoughts on this? Any problems you can see with implementing this that I'm missing? -ed-

Re: [Zope] Zope Syndication

Tim, Thanks for your reply. I found RDFSummary last night when I somehow landed at the Zope User Group HongKong website. I installed RDFSummary 2.0 as per instructions in the README file. I am running Zope 2.50 on Win2K. Under the Zope Root folder I a test folder where I created an RDFSummary object pointing to Slashdot. The id of this RDFSummary object is called "slashdot". In the "test" folder, I created a dtml method called "index_html". The contents of this object are: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-with slashdot> <h1><dtml-var "channel['title']"></h1> <dtml-var picture> <dtml-in items mapping> <p> <a href="<dtml-var link>"><dtml-var title></a><br> <dtml-if "_.has_key('description')"> <dtml-var description> </dtml-if> </p> </dtml-in> </dtml-with> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> This is a straight copy from the README file. I can inspect/view the "slashdot" RDFSummary object, so the object has successfully Now when I point my browser to http://localhost:8080/test/index_html, I get the following message: Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unsubscriptable object ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Troubleshooting Suggestions a.. The URL may be incorrect. b.. The parameters passed to this resource may be incorrect. c.. A resource that this resource relies on may be encountering an error. For more detailed information about the error, please refer to the HTML source for this page. If the error persists please contact the site maintainer. Thank you for your patience. Has anyone had any luck sorting out this problem? ZSQL Method against Postgresql returns int
by Bryan C. Andregg 19 Feb '02

I have a table in a postgresql database that is type float. Querying this table through a ZSQL Method returns the values of that row as an int. I'm using postgres 7.1, PoPy 2.0.8, and ZPoPyDA 2.0.8. Mac OS X.1.2 and Zope 2.5.0 woes...
by Eckhoff, Damon 19 Feb '02

I'm having a problems on Mac OS X.1.2 I'm trying to build Zope from Zope-2.5.0-src using python2.1_macosx binary distribution and am getting errors. I read jens docs and made sure to use the gnutar to extract the gztar file. Here is the Error: .......... cc -g -O2 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -I/usr/local/include/python2.1 -I/usr/local/include/python2.1 -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I../Components/ExtensionClass/src -c ././../Components/ExtensionClass/src/ExtensionClass.c -o ./ExtensionClass.o In file included from /usr/local/include/python2.1/pyport.h:84, from /usr/local/include/python2.1/Python.h:54, from ././../Components/ExtensionClass/src/ExtensionClass.h:114, from ././../Components/ExtensionClass/src/ExtensionClass.c:61: /usr/include/math.h:191: warning: function declaration isn't a prototype cc -bundle -undefined suppress ./ExtensionClass.o -o ./ExtensionClass.so /usr/bin/ld: -undefined error must be used when -twolevel_namespace is in effect make: *** [ExtensionClass.so] Error 1 Traceback (most recent call last): File "wo_pcgi.py", line 45, in ? Okay... I tried to build Python 2.1.2 from src and couldn't get that to go... so I grabbed python2.1_macosx and installed that. I noticed that when building python the -flat-namespace flag should be set... In the above error... I see -twolevel_namespace... is this my problem? I'm new to OS X and Zope... so my learning curve is steeper than I'd like. Supported platforms and versions of Python
by Wayne Pascoe 19 Feb '02

19 Feb '02

Hi all, I'm looking into Zope as a work project. I have read the docs and would just like to ask about supported Python versions and operating systems. The docs say that you need Python 2.1. I can download 2.1.2 and 2.2. Is 2.2 supported ? The reason I ask if 2.2 is supported leads to my next question. I am trying to get Zope running on Mac OS X. The only version of Python that I can get to compile and install is Python 2.2. Python 2.1.2 does not appear to compile. Trying to compile Python 2.1.2 produces the following output: cc -c -g -O2 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -no-cpp-precomp -I. -I./Include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -o Python/getopt.o Python/getopt.c cc -c -g -O2 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -no-cpp-precomp -I. -I./Include -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -o Python/dynload_next.o Python/dynload_next.c Python/dynload_next.c:30: mach-o/rld.h: No such file or directory make: *** [Python/dynload_next.o] Error 1 Trying to build Zope with Python 2.2 goes through a configure type output and produces the following output: make cc -c -I. -I. -g -O2 -DPCGI_WRAPPER_MAIN -DVERSION=\"2.0a5\" -DSTDC_HEADERS=1 -DHAVE_SYS_WAIT_H=1 -DHAVE_UNISTD_H=1 -DRETSIGTYPE=void -DHAVE_PUTENV=1 -DHAVE_SOCKET=1 -DHAVE_STRERROR=1 -DUNIX -DOPT_NO_STDERR -DCLOSE_FDS ./pcgi-wrapper.c ./pcgi.h:61: header file 'sys/sem.h' not found cpp-precomp: warning: errors during smart preprocessing, retrying in basic mode make: *** [pcgi-wrapper.o] Error 1 Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/local/src/Zope-2.5.0-src/w_pcgi.py", line 39, in ? if __name__=='__main__': main(sys.argv[0]) File "/usr/local/src/Zope-2.5.0-src/w_pcgi.py", line 32, in main import build_pcgi File "/usr/local/src/Zope-2.5.0-src/inst/build_pcgi.py", line 25, in ? do('make') File "/usr/local/src/Zope-2.5.0-src/inst/do.py", line 32, in do if i and picky: raise SystemError, i SystemError: 512 Is there any way to get this to work on OS X? compiling zope 2.5.0 on solaris 2.6 with python 2.2
by jbr＠FIZ-Karlsruhe.DE 19 Feb '02

19 Feb '02

hello, I have tried to compile zope on solaris 2.6 using Python 2.2 I am using Zope-2.5.0-src.tgz 1.) compile problems The first attempt to compile the python extensions failed, because the script do.py wanted to use target boot in Makefile.pre.in. In Python 2.2 the Makefile.pre.in has not such a target and therefore I copied Makefile.pre.in from python2.0/config/Makefile.pre.in a temporary directory and changed in do.py the following line do("cp %s ." % wheres_Makefile_pre_in()) into do("cp /home/jbr/t/t/Makefile.pre.in Makefile.pre.in") compiling without pcgi wrapper was successfull. python wo_pcgi.py 2.) when I try to start Zserver I get the warning below each second and a core dump: br@A7Dsid1 > ./start /opt/gnu/lib/python2.2/FCNTL.py:7: DeprecationWarning: the FCNTL module is deprecated; please use fcntl /opt/gnu/lib/python2.2/FCNTL.py:7: DeprecationWarning: the FCNTL module is deprecated; please use fcntl .... Does somebody knows how to compile zope2.5.0 on solaris ? With kind regards, Juergen Berger

Log in and parameter pass please!
by Greg Conway 19 Feb '02

Hi all, Got a little problem using exUserFolder.... I've got my folder set up and working fine. After a successful login, the the user is moved to the intended destination. So I've got my "add data" form, and I've secured it so it can only be used by authenticated users. So, my user tries to add a record, is redirected to the login screen, logs in, and then proceeds to the data entry page. Except! (here's the problem...) The URL the user is trying to access has parameters. To be specific, it's: http://1.2.3.4/AddBusinessForm?SelectCat=1&Cat=Computers But, when redirected through exUserFolder, the user is actually redirected to only http://1.2.3.4/AddBusinessForm. Anybody got any ideas on how I could somehow preserve the entire string? Many thanks in advance!
