Iterating over meta-entries fields in Metapublisher
by Juergen Osterberg 18 Feb '02

18 Feb '02

dear all, I am using metapublisher: how do I iterate in dtml over one field of my meta-entries in order to change that field in all entries? I tried to use the editEntry method: <dtml-in entryIds> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('f1014038858', 'whatever')"> <dtml-call "editEntry(id=_['sequence-item'],title='',REQUEST=REQUEST,RESPONSE=RESPONSE) "> </dtml-in> and also directly the manage_editMetaEntry method which the editEntry uses. Neither of those worked as I did not manage to pass the variable to the method? Or may be I have not understood the REQUEST stuff yet? Best regards Juergen

[ANNOUNCE] ArielPartners releases CVSFile 0.7
by Craeg K. Strong 18 Feb '02

18 Feb '02

This is the first public release of our CVSFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/CVSFile> product. CVSFile enables Zope content to be served out of files residing in CVS sandboxes, and provides access to common CVS functions through the web in the Zope Management Interface. Why not simply use ZCVSFolder <http://www.zope.org/Members/sspickle/ZCVSMixin>? Because CVSFile stores files in CVS as normal files, rather than as Python "pickles." This makes it easy to use the same content, held in CVS, in both Zope and non-Zope contexts. CVSFile extends ExternalFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/ExternalFile>, and therefore inherits all of its functionality.

[ANNOUNCE] ArielPartners releases ExternalFile 0.9
by Craeg K. Strong 18 Feb '02

18 Feb '02

This is the third public release of our ExternalFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/ExternalFile> product. Why not simply use ExtFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/MacGregor/ExtFile>? Because ExternalFile supports pointing to a file "in situ" like a symbolic link, rather than copying it into some central repository directory. This may not seem like a big deal, until you consider that those files might be stored in a revision control system like CVS. ExternalFile gives you the ability to create a Zope object that points to a file in, for example, a CVS sandbox for its content. This new release is compatible with CVSFile-0-7. It also features "workalike" capabilities. ExternalFile can behave like any of the following: * DTMLDocument * DTMLMethod * Image ExternalFile is usable by itself. It is also the base class for CVSFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/CVSFile>.

Cut and paste this from here to line 132 or so. That is, you want to move POPY_NUMERIC from being one of the cases that falls into res = PyInt_FromLong(... to being one of cases that falls into PyFloat_FromDouble(... Recompile. It will then work. Note: python2.1 and python2.2 exhibit different behavior than python1.5. In python1.5, if you had 2.10 stored, the result would be displayed as 2.1. In the 2.x family it will be displayed as something like 2.100000001. Make sure you pass it through your own formatting routine before displaying. Jim Penny

Re: [Zope] newbie question: restart zope remotely?

In case the machine still runs it would be possible to solve the situation using a remote control program like VNC (http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/) Still this has some security implications because VNC itself doesn't have encrypted communication builtin. RE: [Zope] connet to MS-SQL database with ython script from with in zope
by Stuart Nicholson 18 Feb '02

I think you'll find these are 'r for Record' instances returned from the sql object. From memory you should be able to do things like for r in results: print r['MySQLFieldName'] print r[0] or alternately r[0]['MySQLFieldName'] or r[0][0] to access the first record field values. Where each record contains a field called 'MySQLFieldName' and r[0] gets you the 'first' SQL field value returned from your query as a string, r[1] gets the second SQL field value etc. etc. So to print every field of every record you could do something like: for rec in results: for fieldName in rec.keys(): print fieldName, ' = ', rec[ 'fieldName' ] Hope that helps (and I may be wrong, been a couple of months since I've worked with Zope SQL interface). ZSQL methods return special objects ('pluggable brains' I believe they are called - I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong). Try this to see how to use them from python scripts (dtml docs/methods have some magic that makes it easy transparent)... ------- sql="Select * from LinkArea" results = container.sql_method(the_sql=sql) headings = results.names() # names() gives you the column headings print headings for row in results: for heading in headings: print row[heading] return printed -------- There's also a dictionaries() method on the result object that is very helpful. I know there are more posts on this in the list archives as well. hth tim _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev ) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The information contained in this communication is intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom it is addressed and others authorised to receive it. Hi Tim, I did exactly as you told me to do. The following is the python script sql="Select * from LinkArea" results = container.sql_method(the_sql=sql) for i in results: print i return printed and below is the ZSQL method: <dtml-var the_sql> when i do this, it gives me the instances, something like this.. <r instance at 01674978> <r instance at 015DAED0> <r instance at 01674978> <r instance at 015DAED0> I do not understand this. --madhavi

Re: [Zope] Zope-2.5.0 randomly restarting?
by Sven Rudolph 18 Feb '02

Hello Seb. >> Maybe this is related to another bug... > ... I'm having to do 'hard' restarts to get around the problem. Thats the same thing I have to do. > I hope to investigate it a bit further this week. > However, for me at least, this bad refreshing does not cause crashes. I hope so :-) Remember that I wrote , that the bad-refresh-bug doesn't appear in 2.4.0, with the very same products. The problem appears in 2.4.1 - 2.5.0, what makes me think, that it is caused by the changes (a change) 2.4.0 -> 2.4.1. Maybe the problem is inside my products, and 2.4.1 - 2.5.0 does stricter checks during refresh? ISO-8859_1_Splitter.c is truncate to ISO-885 and is trucate: UnicodeSplitter.c and ZopeSplitter.c too. If i rename the files and launch "python wo_pcgi" all is ok! Please reply to me and sorry for my english! :) Thanks!! -- Giulivo Navigante [Linux Slackware] http://www.fans.carmenconsoli.com
